"Did you ever feel like your life is sleep, work and escaping reality through books?" Squeezed his pillow, clearly bothered by her own question.
"Sometimes, but it's not like I can quit. I may have a lot of responsibilities but I got as many privileges." He ran his hands through his long beautiful hair, his loose robe showing his abdomen.
"Still I wish I could live without working, it's so stressful. If it wasn't for Zena and you I would quit!" Puffed her cheeks.
"I know of a way." He had a sly grin.
"What way?" She inquired excitedly.
"All you need to do is…" he stopped mid sentence to increase the suspense.
"Spill it out!"
"Marry me." He mumbled dreamily, not predicting that she would actually hear.
She voiced her thoughts out loud, wholeheartedly considering his proposal.
"Hm,the queen's job is to take care of the king and their children. Basically what a housewife does, but without having to do house chores…"
"Yes,precisely." He nodded anxiously.
"Sahil probably would be a great husband,so I wouldn't need to worry about being mistreated. Plus we get along pretty well and he's cute."
"... you're doing this on purpose to embarrass me,aren't you?"
He questioned bashfully. She ignored his question, continuing to bluntly speak her mind.
"He's handsome, has good manners and is reliable. Though he's an insecure shy overthinker,I like him."
"Stop teasing me,just reject me already." Said pouting angrily.
"I'm not messing around, I want to marry you!" She threw the pillow at him that caught it and tossed it aside.
"Really? Then you wouldn't mind if I did this." He held her chin, they were mere inches apart.
He intensely locked his gaze on hers, waiting for something, anything that could prove her statement. His heart beating fast with anticipation, what if she really likes him?
Her cheeks went crimson red,yet she didn't pull away nor averted her eyes. It was as if she was expectantly looking forward to his next action.
"Sahil." The way she always casually says his name was spellbinding, tempting even.
All his doubts faded away when instead of retreating, she placed her arms around his neck. He gently pressed his lips against hers, pulling her closer. Slightly opening their mouths, their tongues playfully fight each other. Gradually their lips part and they found themselves entranced by their unusual boldness. She rests her head on his shoulder,he strokes her hair. Both of them smiled sheepishly.
A maid became friends with the king after accidentally seeing him cry alone in his chambers. Will this friendship between Adira and Sahil turn into something else?
