The new love birds continued to text throughout the night until Jenna stopped responding around two in the morning. She needed the sleep, and Lyla needed some too but that wasn't going to stop her from getting to her secondary hometown.
"Hey Mel, could you pull into the gas station, I can drive the rest of the way since you've been driving for about ever."
"Alright." She makes the turn to go into the Circle K station, pulling up to one of the gas pumps and getting out.
"You can get more gas, it's almost empty."
"Ight." The other two of Amelia and Alice were sleeping in the back, leaning up against each other to support one another. Both the comedian and her manager smile at the sight, even though they could just be friends this was still a cute scene overall. Plus both of them know what they'll start teasing them about in the morning.
"Mel, get a picture of them." She winks lazily after, the dark under her eyes making her look like a vampire. The girl nods and get's her phone out, quickly snapping a photo and putting a thumbs up through the dark tinted window which somehow Lyla could still see into.
When the gas was cut off from the car she paid and got back in before getting back out, honestly right now, she wants some mini donuts and so that's what she was set to get, along with something for everyone else in the morning but she decides that'll be a McDonald's breakfast, lord was she waiting to have cinna-melts again.
When they're back on the road again she puts on some music to calm herself but it had to be low enough since it was at least three in the morning. The song that comes from the car is I love my life by The Justice Crew. It could describe how Lyla's life was going already, with the new introduction to her next chapter in her love life, it was nice. After the song ends a whole list of different songs play, ranging from April Shower to September.
When she sees the "Welcome to Columbus" sign, she heaves a large sigh, smiling, stopping at a red light while there were only a few cars going home from work and going to work since it was almost five in the morning now.
The sky was getting lighter and the sun was slowly peeking out. This would usually happen in Ohio, a very early sunrise but it was always delightful to see with the skyscrapers making a perfect blacked out backdrop.
If she wasn't in the entertainment business she would surely go into photography at some point in her life.
However they weren't going into Columbus, they were going to Hilliard unless Courtney was going to dawn on that. At least Lizzy would be coming still, maybe she could get a recording of the show and let Victoria see it. As she's getting all her friends together again, both American and Canadian.
Then a missing piece throws a wrench in her plans, she's forgotten one person, Lin. She would be the only one left out of the alt crew.
"Shit." She whispers, hitting the steering wheel slightly, be careful as to not beep the horn.
"Hey, you good?" Amelia asks, stealing some of the strawberry donuts.
"Yeah, just forgot to invite Lin and she's living in Australia right? There's no way she'll be able to--"
"Ly, I got you covered, I talked to Lin yesterday before your show and she's on a plane ride here as we speak." Mel flashes an "okay" symbol before looking at the others, mostly Amelia since she stole more donuts.
"When will she arrive?"
"Round four I think."
"Oh..." Lyla drops the word unconsciously, not even thinking about it, that means that, no, it would work since Jenna would get to Columbus at 5:21 at least, so she would still be able to hangout with the others.
"What's the matter with that?" Alice asks, also stealing a few donuts.
"Nothing, just thought something else was in that time frame."
"Okay... Do you have something you're not telling us?" Amelia reverts her eyes to slits, making her interrogation mode turn on.
"No, it's just that I have something to do with the American's at five, I'll come back for the show though."
"Alright." The car goes silent once again. To Lyla it felt like a ton of bricks were pulled off her shoulders as the lie was sustained.
The rest of the car ride was quiet until they pulled up to the McDonald's in Hilliard.
"Ight what do y'all want?" They were sitting in the parking lot as they knew this was going to take a while, along with the place wasn't even open as it was almost seven in the morning.
"What do they have here?" Alice asks.
"Pancakes, Mcgriddle, cinna-melts, hash browns, that sort of thing."
"What are cinna-melts?" The others nod in agreement.
"It's just like a cinnamon roll or well mini cinnamon rolls that are extra coated in diabetes." Mel and the others in the car chuckle slightly, they were never ready for the girl's humor in the morning.
"Oh then I'll have one."
"I'll have some pancakes." Amelia orders.
"Mel, what do you want?"
"I guess I can have one of those cinna-melts too."
"Alright, I'll be back." She gets out of the car and immediately stretches, being cooped up in a car is already bad enough, but the cracks of her back satisfy her.
She goes inside and orders the food.
"Did you text Jenna?" Alice looks over to Amelia's screen.
"Nope but I will now."
--
Who's this?
I'm Amelia, you must be Jenna correct?
--
"Jesus, you sound so formal." Amelia rolls her eyes and looks at the new message that popped up.
--
Oh! Amelia, it's been awhile hasn't it?
Yep, so I heard that you and Lyla got back in touch
Yeah, we did, what's it to you tho?
Nothing, she's just been talking about it before, during, and a little after her show.
Oh
Well anyway, it was nice talking to you
Same here
See ya
Bye

"That was the most awkward situation I've ever had." The girl sighs and slides down more into her seat.
"Hey at least it wasn't that bad." The sound of the door opening quiets them all.
"What wasn't so bad?" Lyla questions, popping her head into the interior of the car before starting to slide into the driver's seat.
"We were talking about... your show last night." A scoff could be heard from the girl as she got into the car, putting the two bags of food down.
"Mean, you think it was really that bad?"
"Nope."
"Then why did--"
"Just pass the pancakes and we'll talk about this later." The comedian rolls her eyes, taking the pancakes out of the bag and handing them back to the girl in demand.
"Okay?" She hands the everything else back and gets out her own little box that had the childhood favorite of cinna-melts in them. "God it's been four years since I've had these." She comments out loud.
"Did they not have them in Monroe?" Mel asks, opening her own box.
"Well yes and no, we'd have to drive to Dayton before they were made here." She pauses for a second, her fork with one of the small cinnamon rolls only inches from her face. "You guys seem off, what's going on?"
"Well..." Amelia starts.
"She talked to Jenna." Alice blurts out, earning a bop on the head from the other next to her.
"What? Why did you talk to her?"
"Because, we wanted to know what was going on between you two."
"We're just friends Am, that's it, nothing more."
"Then why were you so flustered when you called her?" Amelia spits back.
"Because I was nervous, okay. I didn't know what she was going to-- You know what, we're not going to talk about it." The others back off from the subject, continuing to scarf down their food.
