Miss popular

Dec 03, 2021

Being the popular girl isn't as glamorous as movies make it seem and the stereotype they push on popular kids isn't always true. Most of the popular kids in my school are fun, loving, and will/have punched a person's teeth out for making fun of a classmate. But most of the time we just want to hang out with everyone, but not everyone wants to hang out with us. Though I usually don't mind nor care if someone wants to be left alone. But this one girl she just...catches my attention and I can't help but want to get to know her. Every day she enters from the south entrance of the building at 7:30 and every day she gives me a polite smile not bothering to stop to talk. I've followed her to her first class I've even changed my schedule so I have classes with her but I never get the same class as her. But this semester is the year! I have all of the same classes as her by the power of the gay gods! And now I have every chance to ask her out or at least attempt to reach out to her and I haven't made a single move. I've tried to at least sit with her during lunch but something always happens to keep me from actually achieving my goal either I lose the nerve or someone recognizes me and calls me over to their table and I never make it to her but. I've tried in classes but most of our teachers have assigned seats and I never get seated next to her. I don't even bother in other classes cause she sits in the back which is the universal sign for I don't want to be bothered. BUT! Not all hope is lost! We still have parties, right? What high school doesn't go to parties? Apparently her. She never goes to any party thrown. No matter who's hosting. Finally today I'm just going to talk to her...I just hope I don't die.

I try not to think too much while I wait for her in front of the school. I don't even know what I'm going to say to, hell I don't even know her name. Before I can back a pale-skinned girl catches my eye and I know it's her by her stormy grey eyes and jet black hair. Before I can even look away she looks up at me and flashes her signature smirk. Small, warm, yet mysterious. God damn it say something! "Hi.." I slightly wave wishing I had just stayed quiet.
"Hey." she smiles walking by. Thankfully before I can say anything she walks inside past the heavy metal doors. I heave a sigh of relief, At least I didn't say anything too stupid.
"Taylor, you okay?" a small worried voice from behind me catches me off guard and I let out a loud girly scream. The laughter from my friend tells me it was just as bad as it sounded.
"Jesus, Ryan you scared me," Taylor says clutching her chest.

"Sorry. You seemed to be floating in outer space." Ryan chuckled gently wrapping his arm around Taylors back, he gently lead her towards her next class. "So, is there any reason you were so out of it when Jasmine walked by?" Ryan smirked trying not to smile too much. He'd always noticed Taylor's interest in women but never spoke to her about it opting to be there for her when she decided to go on the journey. Though he figured she'd be in denial having convinced herself she was straight but his friend was quite the opposite. She never outright said whether she was bi or lesbian but she did tell him about girls she thought were cute just like she would when she found a boy attractive. Though he never wanted to push her to tell him anything she didn't want to and definitely didn't want her to think he wouldn't be a good source to come to and talk to.
"No. I just liked her shoes." Taylor mumbled clearly upset about something.

"Yeah, they were really nice work-boots even though you despise them and hate the color brown." Ryan smiled, "Try saying hi or asking for her name. Or how her day is going that's always a great ice breaker." Taylor nods gently pushing Ryan.

The girl every boy wanted and every girl wanted to be only wanted the one person in the entire school who didn't want her or to be her, the quiet kid who just wants to be left alone so the day can go by without there being a total disaster like catching the attention of the whole student body because the head cheerleader likes her.
