When Killian entered the classroom, walking towards his seat, Engel quickly glared at him before it instantly turned into a concerned expression. "You look like shit; are you okay?" Engel greeted him.
"You know how to make a guy feel special, Engel," Killian commented as he took his seat.
Aurora, who was leaning in the middle of Killian and Engel's desk, hummed, "I agree with Engel on this. Are you feeling okay? Maybe, you should go home."
Wow, Killian must look terrible if people love telling him he looks like shit. Gosh, not everyone wakes up every day looking like models. "Jeez, guys, give me more love; I don't think I received enough."
Aurora shrugged while Engel patted his shoulder, "It is okay. You are only showing your true colors."
"Haha," Killian fakely laughed, "it was only some slight teasing; no need to get harsh here. I sincerely surrender." Killian even raised his hands to show he gave in.
"It doesn't work like that, Killian."
"What are you two even talking about?" Aurora confusedly moved her head left and right, trying to catch a glimpse of their secret conversation.
Instead of answering her question, Killian quickly changed the subject. "Engel told me you were looking for me. Is there anything you need?"
"Oh," Aurora jumped up, remembering the reason why she came to this classroom, "remember when we dipped into the enormous sports funding for the art class?"
Killian nodded his head.
The school highly praises sports since they win more awards than the academic clubs (and the other clubs). They give more funding to sports and academics than other things in the school, but sports take the cake on the amount of funding they receive; even dipping into it for something else does nothing.
"Well, a few 'entitled' alphas have a problem with our decision." Aurora rolled her eyes as she remembered the barking alphas. If she did not care about getting in trouble, Aurora would have dealt with them in her own way.
"If they have a problem, they can come to the student council room and speak with me. But, at the available times, of course." Killian replied. He doesn't see the point of them complaining; it is not like they need every penny.
"Okay," before Aurora could continue the conversation, the teacher began to walk in, causing the other students to return to their seats. Aurora stood up, "Well, I will see you after class." She walked away.
It was silent between Engel and Killian as they pulled out their workbooks. When the teacher turned to write on the board, Killian could not stop his mouth from opening and saying, "So, how was the faux date?"
"How was sleeping with Azra, again?" Engel instantly clapped back.
Killian's right eye twitched, "I did not sleep with Azra, and I never will." Again. His brain added at the end, which the lie detector said: that is a lie.
"And I do not like Aurora and never will," Engel answered back.
The silence carried on once more as the teacher started addressing the class. It took ten minutes into the class period before Killian could not hold himself back anymore. "So, that means you do like her," Killian whispered, still facing forward to look like he wasn't talking while the teacher spoke.
"So, you did sleep with Azra," Engel matched his tone with Killian's.
Pinching the bridge of his nose, Killian lost the plot of the conversation. No, honestly, he doesn't know why his mouth keeps putting him in situations like this. He is going to blame pregnancy for his blabbermouth.
"You know what, let's forget the conversation ever happened."
"That will not excuse you from my payback."
Killian silently groaned, "You play a hard bargain, sir."
"And you should not have tried to set me up on a faux date."
"We are at a standstill, I see."
"There is no standstill. All I hear is a person trying to get out his payback."
"Don't I get a free 'out of jail' friendship card?"
"You used it a few months back. You only get one each year."
"I feel cheated, Engel. Cheated."
While they continued to talk, Engel and Killian did not notice their voices turning from a whisper to 60 decibels. The teacher grew annoyed as his expression turned fierce while narrowing his eyes at Killian and Engel. Even the students looked between them, and the teacher, who they (Killian and Engel) hadn't noticed, stopped talking a while back.
"That is your problem, not mine." Engel shrugged.
"Do you want to see me beg while sincerely apologizing? Because I won't do it." Killian mentioned.
"Mr. Huxley and Mr. Grey," the teacher called out as a headache began to grow, "stand outside and reflect on your actions!"
Killian and Engel stood outside near the classroom door. Well, Killian and Engel sat on the ground rather than standing. "You were supposed to be the angel on my shoulder, but you are the devil for getting us in trouble."
"You got us in trouble." Engel pointed out as he set another card on top of Killian's.
Okay, they were also playing a card game instead of reflecting on why they got in trouble.
"Tomato (tom-ay-to), tomato (tom-ah-to)." Killian shrugged, setting down another card.
Engel sighed, "You are lucky I love you."
"I love you too."
"But," Engel paused for a second, "I should put out a new friend application."
"Haha," Killian rolled his eyes as he gave a dry laugh, "no one can compare to me."
Engel hummed in response.
As they played cards, Killian's phone vibrated. He paused the game to grab his phone to see who texted him, which ended up being Azra. The message was a photo. His mind told him to ignore it, but his body grew curious since it was hard to tell what the picture was.
After a second of hesitation, Killian clicked on the message, causing the picture to expand. When Killian saw a shirtless well-toned body that could entice the strongest (mental strength) man, Killian cursed. His face turned utterly red.
Forget what he said earlier; Azra is still the devil on his shoulder.
