Knocking on the large chestnut-colored doors of this grand marble office. I patiently awaited a response.
“Come in.” A muffled voice replied to my knock.
Pushing the wooden doors open with my two hands. He sat there, smug and comfortable in the large chair of his office.
“Captain Kiriya.” I took a knee, placing my arm to my chest.
“Took you long enough.” He smirked. “It brings joy to see you’re an official Front Lines member.”
“Well, I still have a long ways to go.” I sighed.
Rising to my feet, I straightened out my white dress-shirt and seated myself in the vacant chair in front of his desk.
“So why’d you call me in here?”
“Well to congratulate you of course. Today’s your first day after all…”
As our eyes met, his crimson eyes felt as if daggers were piercing me.
Something feels off…
“as well as--” His eyes narrowed.
Raising his hand. Kiriya swiftly shot a kunai towards me. At point-blank range, I had such a small window of time to react. Regardless, I rocked myself back, falling to the ground and flipping the chair over in the process.
Less than a second afterward, the kunai darted over me into the cream wallpaper of the large office.
“Are we really doing this?” I lifted my fists.
He smirked. Raising his hand, revealing several more kunai’s.
Darting forward. I zagged myself around the room as I ran towards him. Evading the kunai’s he aimed at me.
Kicking the desk over, I shot it towards him as it slid across the ground.
Stopping the large wooden desk with a single foot. He shot it back towards me, colliding with my lower body. I was pushed onto my chest, landing on my chin.
“Ah, grr.” I gritted my teeth.
Still persisting, I rose to my feet, finally meeting face to face. A heart-pounding showdown, I could feel the hairs on my skin quiver.
Who’s going to throw the first punch. I thought to myself.
His calm collected facial expression agitated me, and I threw the first swing. Extending my right arm towards him. He weaved below my fist and thrust his own into my chest.
Huffing. I lifted my knee and pushed his head down with my hands. Clashing with my knee, he grabbed onto my arms which held his head and used them to lift himself up. Using both of his legs, he trusted me into the wall. Causing a large bookshelf to crash onto me.
“Aghh.” I groaned in pain.
Quickly shaking this off, I grabbing the massive weights of paper that fell onto me, and began shooting them towards him like darts on a dartboard.
Evading each book with precision. He grabbed the final one, redirecting it towards me. The thick book struck my throat.
“Grawf!” I wheezed.
Kiriya sprinted forward, raising his knee which struck my abdomen.
“Grouah!” I spat blood onto his black slacks.
Pulling me by the back of my head, he threw me onto the turned-over desk. Which split into two.
Struggling to stand, I lifted my fists once again. Insisting I kept going.
Kiriya who stood unphased of my resolve was more worried about the stain on his pants.
Running forward once again. He ducked, sweeping his leg across the floor. And dropping me onto my back.
Thudding to the ground, I let out another painful screech.
“I’m surprised. You manage to hit me this time around.” He said, folding the sleeves of his suit.
“Tsk, did you have to go that hard?”
“What’s the score? Thirty-seven to zero, still?” He smirked. Reaching out his arm.
At this moment, his shadow dawned over me in the dimly lit room. Disregarding my injuries, I found myself drawn towards the slender, yet muscular arm reaching towards me. Slowly lifting my own, I grabbed onto it--
