She quickly grabbed the dagger she had hidden under her clothes and threw it at the Blood Lord. It hit his hand with the energy. He screeched in pain. He turned to Rose as he removed the dagger from his bleeding hand. Kenta complimented her aim, but she was off by a lot.
Just then, a blast of energy burst into the room. It sent Kenta flying across the room and out the wall. The person came through the door and introduced himself as a guardian from Osuku to assist the prince.
He and Rose went to Aidan, who was still unconscious and covered in wounds. Rose held him in her arms as the guardian began to heal him. Rose prayed that he’d be alright. She really cared about him, and she didn’t want to lose him. Her eyes poured tears that landed on Aidan’s face. The prince groaned as he twitched his eyes. They slowly opened to reveal his golden eyes.
“Aidan!” Rose rejoiced.
“My prince!” the Osuku guardian rejoiced.
Aidan lifted his hand and placed it on Rose’s cheek. She began to rub her cheek on his hand.
“Do you still think I’m shallow?” he asked.
Rose chuckled. Her tears slowly stopping. She placed her hand on top of his. “No,” she replied. “you’re not shallow. You’re just…unbelievable.”
Aidan smiled and hugged her. The guardian helped him get to his feet. He then informed the prince of the situation. Apparently, King Jared had been preparing for this day. He immediately sent out an army to assist his son while he remained in Osuku.
A small smile came across Aidan’s face.
“Thank you,” said the prince.
The guardian bowed. He informed the prince that he and Rose would be escorted to safety while the other guardians kept the Blood Lord busy. However, the couple refused. Aidan immediately told Rose to go with the guardian, but she refused.
“If this is your fight, then it’s mine too!” Rose declared.
Aidan smiled.
“My prince seems to have won the lottery,” the guardian praised.
The prince blushed. He snapped out of it when an explosion was heard. Also, he could have sworn his father was yelling. Aidan carried Rose in his arms while the guardian followed behind. They jumped from the hole to the outside. There, they saw Kenta fighting someone. It looked like the king.
“Father?!” Aidan roared.
“My king?!” the guardian shrieked.
The king glanced back at the voices. He jumped back, avoiding the swing of the Blood Lord’s claws.
Aidan asked his father why he was here, and his father just placed a hand on his shoulder.
“I think it’s time we end this. Together,” he said solemnly.
Aidan knew what his father meant, and he was right. This had to end. The two of them glared at Kenta with disdain.
"How pathetic," The Blood Lord smirked. "You still rely on father. You can't do anything on your own, can you?!"
Aidan stepped forward. "You're right, but what is wrong with relying on those who care for you? In turn, I will protect them with my life!"
Just then, his necklace began to glow and out became a dagger. Rose's bracelet glowed as well, and it burned to Aidan’s blade. The two looked at each other and knew what to do. Aidan asked for his father and the guardian to buy him and Rose some time.
Jared nodded and gave Rose his sword. “I always carry a spare,” he said, unsheathing another sword. “Now, go!”
The king and the guardian lunged forward at Kenta. He managed to dodge both attacks, but the two didn’t give up.
Meanwhile, Rose and Aidan began to think of how to use the dagger and the bracelet. Rose’s bracelet glowed brighter the closer the blade came. She removed her bracelet and placed it around the handle of the dagger. It illuminated in purple light, and when it dimmed, the two were shocked. A long, purple scythe appeared in their hands.
“Use it well,” a voice whispered.
The couple heard the voice; their eyes shined with confidence and held the scythe together. Aidan had the scythe and grabbed Rose’s hand. They advanced forward, warning the king and the guardian to split.
Aidan swung the scythe at his brother. He missed but then sent the scythe to Rose using his connection with her. With the weapon in hand, Rose spun it and sent it flying into Kenta. Fortunately, he barely dodged it. The blade then returned to Aidan.
Kenta prepared for one final strike, and the couple prepared for the final match. Both sides ran toward each other. Kenta swung his claws; Rose slid under while Aidan jumped over. When they landed behind Kenta, the couple held the scythe and shouted, “SWORD!”
Suddenly, the scythe transformed into a sword. Its metal blade glimmered but soon became engulfed in red as it pierced Kenta’s heart. His body stiffened. He then coughed small plots of blood. The Blood Lord's body began to crack. He then collapsed to the ground turning to dust.
With its job done, the sword split in two. It returned to the necklace around Aidan and the bracelet on Rose.
“Goodbye, brother,” Aidan whispered.
Rose took his hand. There was silence for a moment, then Aidan turned to Rose and told her how much he loved her.
“I love you too,” she smiled.
Aidan embraced Rose. His hands around her waist and her hands around his neck. The two kissed, promising to love one another forever.
**
Years went by, and Rose moved to Osuku. A marriage blessed by the king himself. On his son’s wedding day, he crowned him King Aidan and his bride, Queen Rose, the rulers of Osuku. The people of both Osuku and the human world rejoiced. A new era was about, to begin with, a human as part of the royal family.
4 years later…
Aidan paced outside the door. His servants looking at him with worriful expressions. They assured him that the Queen would be fine. However, her screams told a different story. Rose had been screaming for what felt like hours. He wondered if it would ever stop, and if it did, would his wife and child be safe?
His question was answered with the cries of a baby. Aidan burst through the door. He saw Rose panting and sweating, holding two crying babies in her arms. He ran over to his wife and the children.
“Congratulations, your majesties,” a servant announced. “A pair of healthy twin boys.”
Aidan cried tears of joy as he held one of the babies in his hands. Rose had the other in her arms. The couple watched their newborn sons drift into a slight slumber.
“What should we call them?” asked Aidan, cradling the small child.
"The one in your arms is Aaron," she smiled. "And this little one is called Nocte."
Aidan chuckled. "I love it."
