RE-Hopetale Underfell
Papyrus stormed around the lower levels of waterfall. His foul mood radiated from him as he searched. Waterfall was unusually quiet for the time of day, but then other monsters did make a point to avoid him when he was like this. He smirked to himself. That was something at least. With a huff Papyrus descended another level. How long was that stupid fish going to keep this up?
Without warning a small stone smacked him in the face. Papyrus growled in agitation. Turning in the direction of the pebbles origin he was quickly pelted with another, then another and again. “WHAT THE HELL!?” he growled. The tall grass in the distance rustled violently. Something clearly wanted his attention. Papyrus stomped over toward the tall grass to find the offending monster. When he found them they were dust. Upon reaching the tall grass the rustling stopped. Papyrus stomped through the vegetation, annoyance plastered all over his face. Annoyance quickly turned to surprise once he saw the small monster curled up unconscious and shivering beside the cave wall. Slowly, warily, he made his way over to them. There at the cave edge was a small baby bones. Papyrus hesitated. How? Where? He thought for a moment and then came to a most startling conclusion. “SAAAANS!!!!”
Sans lay sleeping at his Snowdin station. Bottles of mustard littered about the place, a cold breeze blowing empty food wrappers through the trees. 'A nice, uneventful shift. well that makes a change' he thought to himself as he groggily woke from his nap.
“SANS!!!” his brother's shrill voice cut through the silence like a knife.
“Ah fuck what now?” he said to no one in particular as he turned to see his brother stomping towards him.
Sans was taken aback. Papyrus looked pissed, more than pissed, Sans hadn't seen Papyrus this angry in a long time. It put him immediately on edge.
Stopping just in front of the sentry station Papyrus leaned forward slightly to tower over his smaller brother. Sans looked up at him nervously and chuckled. “h-hey boss. What's up?”
“WHAT'S UP? WHAT'S UP? HOW FUCKING IRESPONSIBLE CAN YOU BE?”
“Uhhhhh?” Oh Papyrus was pissed alright. He only ever swore when something had hurled his anger right over the edge.
Sans racked his brain for what could have gotten Papyrus so worked up all of a sudden, but he hadn't been up to anything... lately.
“FIRST YOU DON'T TELL ME AND THEN YOU LET THEM WANDER AROUND THE UNDERGROUND UNGUARDED AND STARK NAKED NO LESS. AND WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN HIDING THEM? I ALWAYS KNEW YOU WERE LAZY AND IRESPONSIBLE SANS BUT THIS!?!”
Papyrus gestured down to the bundled in his arms. Sans took a closer look. A small turquoise haired skeleton lay sleeping wrapped in his brothers scarf.
'Oh shit' Sans thought to himself. He knew what his brother was getting at.
“Hey! Hey boss. They 'aint mine” he protested, waving his hands in submission.
“WELL THERE NOT MINE SANS. IF I HAD A CHILD I WOULD KNOW. YOU AND I ARE THE ONLY TWO SKELETONS IN THE UNDERGROUND. IF THEY ARE NOT MINE THEN YOU ARE THE ONLY REMAINING SUSPECT.”
“b-but boss I swear I aint-”
“I DON'T WANT TO HEAR YOUR EXCUSES SANS.” Papyrus spun on his heels and stomped back in the direction he had come. “YOU ARE IRESPONSIBLE AND COMPLETELY INCAPABLE OF CARING FOR A CHILD. I AM TAKING CUSTODY OF HER AND I WILL HEAR NO MORE OF IT. DO NOT DARKEN OUR DOOR TONIGHT SANS OR THERE WILL BE HELL TO PAY.”
Sans watched as his brother faded into the distance. He wished he had some witty comeback, or any comeback for that matter. But only three words came to mind.
“What the Fuck?”
