Josh finishes getting ready for the day. He walks out to the kitchen to see a young brunette boy finishing his breakfast, “Done already?” The little boy just cheers and smirks. Josh chuckles, “Go get ready for school.” The grumbling starts immediately. Josh sighs, “Go on.”
“Yes papa,” he says before leaving.
Josh chuckles taking the child’s dishes to the sink; where a shorter than Josh but wider blue-haired man with a flat mohawk is already washing dishes. “He does that every morning. Is school so boring for him?” Josh asks putting the dishes down.
“Was it ever interesting for you?” the blue-haired man teases.
Josh wraps his arms around the man’s waist, “No. All my fun was after school.” Josh kisses his cheek causing him to smirk.
“So, tell me. How is Steven doing with that new girl you mentioned? He still going puppy dog crazy for her?”
Josh nuzzles into the man’s shoulder, “Actually for him, he is really calm this time. He didn’t run out and buy her a lot of things or turn beet red at mentioning her.” He squeezes the man closer, “Get this though, he’s actually thinking about showing her.”
The man stiffens up and quickly leans in, “Seriously?! After last time~”
“I know. Can you believe it? And he wants to be huge!” Josh snickers with joy that revivals a child.
“I thought he stopped.”
“Steven? Never. He just cut back. Though it has been years since he’s even thought about it,” Josh begins to recall.
“Huh. Don’t forget your breakfast,” the other man points out. Josh grabs everything on the counter and shuffles off the table. “Just a minute, the new woman is she a blonde with a purple streak?”
“Yeah. Why?”
The man comes over to the table while wiping his hands on a towel, “Because that sounds like the woman Mr. Marrigold is renting his place to.”
“So?”
“So, if the boss is renting his place to her that means she’s here for the hospital for some reason. From what you’ve said and the limited stuff Mr. Marrigold has said it doesn’t sound like she’s a doctor or nursing student. I wonder if she’s a rep for something,” he theorizes.
“Daddy come on! We’re going to be late!” a small voice shouts from the hallway.
“Right,” the man tosses the towel in the sink. “Later babe,” he says before kissing Josh’s cheek and hurrying down the hallway.
“Later,” Josh mutters lost in thought. The images of Viola coughing, her soreness, her movements from pain and restrictions all start playing through Josh’s mind. The memory of Steven curling around her during a bad cough so no one can see it comes to mind. “He’s defensive. Maybe it isn’t puppy love this time.”
