“What the hell was that for, you didn’t have to kill him what if he has a family waiting for him,” Darius shouts his outburst in full play now he can properly communicate.
“First off let’s clean you up,” Ensley states before waving her and across from me to him and as her hand left me, I can feel all the dirt and blood vanish off of me. Looking to her I see that her wounds are healed, and her shirt repaired.
“He did have a family and only one of them is still alive and was being taken advantaged of,” turning to him I hope that it clears it up and he doesn’t have a thousand more questions to grill me with.
“What do you mean and how in the world would you know,” I simply point to the boy, he looks at him with puzzlement showing he hasn’t figured it out yet.
“He is the son most likely is relived that their dad is dead,” I say while making my way over to the boy who looks up at me with regret, shame and I see a small part of him hold onto relief.
“How – how did you know, what are you, are you going to hurt me,” He panics and his small body trembles. Giving him a soft smile and a comforting look to show that I can help him out.
“Look kid it wasn’t difficult to figure it all out especially with how he treated you compared to his workers I know that your mum had passed due to the way your father acted. I don’t know how to explain it any easier than that but to answer your other questions it is a bit hard to understand but I’m a werewolf and no were not here to harm you,” looking at him with sympathy and understanding, he looks at me staring with disbelief but seems to overcome it quickly as he relaxes suddenly running to me and wrapping his arms around my waist giving me a tight hug. I can finally see how badly he is hurting from everything not just physically but mentally. Slowly I wrap my arms around him and try to rub soothing circles on his back to help calm him down.
“Thank you.” He mumbles into my shirt as his breathing slowly evens out and he detaches from me to wipe his eyes. Getting a closer look, I can tell that he’s in his early teens, no child or person for that matter should have to go through with what he has put up with.
“Sorry to ruin the moment but what do we do now, what do we do with the kid, and I need answers before you go and disappear again” Darius states.
“Look kid if you need a place to stay you are welcome at anyone of my hotels/apartment buildings there in every country. They will always be available for you no matter what you can go anywhere and for as long as you want, just a small warning there are multiple species living in them,” I hold out my hand quickly glancing to Ensley she smiles and waves her hand as a blue business-like card materialises in my hand. “Just call me and everything will be paid for and organised, you can move in straight away or whenever you want.” Handing him the card.
“Thank you greatly, but for now I think I will stay here and make everything right for now at least and then finally get my life in order.” He smiles and it’s the brightest smile he’s ever made and given someone which lifts my spirits unlike anything else. Nodding I leave him be and watch as he walks into a different room.
“Wait hotels, why do you own them and how, but how much are you going to continually keep from me, what else have you not told me.” He looks like a kicked puppy and a confused one with a million questions swimming around his head.
“A lot.” Ensley states as the two of us walk out of the door into the crisp clear night it only gets cooler as the breeze picks up making me pick up speed to the car. As we arrive, I try and open the passenger seat but realise Ensley’s not letting me in. looking up at her in the eye she shakes her head sending me to the back seat. Giving her a short growl and slamming the door once I’m in laying down on the back seat. Looking in the seat pockets I find my old phone with headphones I turn it on a see that its fully charged. Not caring enough why it’s here I put on my headphones and drown out the world as Ensley talks with Darius.
A few hours later and the first rays of sunlight extend their reach over the white hills, my eyes mostly closed from sleeping try to open as I am being lifted out of the car. Squirming as I don’t like being carried until I calm down as a hand taps on my leg in a rhythm, I am all too familiar with. I hear slight mummering and a door being quickly unlocked, as soon as I am inside, I recognise the sent as my own house. Ensley swiftly carrying me to my room carefully placing me down and before I can move to get up, she whispers a small chant, sleep whisking me away all over again. Trying to fight the fuzzy darkness but it swiftly takes hold of me.
Groggily sitting up I rub the dust from my eyes looking to my small black clock on the nightstand I find that I’ve slept into the afternoon. Soft murmurs come from the kitchen listening intently on what their saying. “but what was the reason she chose this life over one with her family and friends, why become a street fighter and an assassin, surely there were other things to do better things.” He whispers about my life as if he knows every decision, I made was easy, like it was easy to isolate myself from others just to keep them safe. He clearly knows nothing about me, and I plan on keeping it that way. looking out my door I find that both of them are facing away from me on the kitchen table and back door.
“To put it simply she didn’t it might not make sense to you but think of it this way you got to choose the way your life went and how it’s going but hers is more complicated I can’t tell you the details because its her story to share. All I can say Is that try to view the world in a different perspective one in which there isn’t much hope, and a lot has been taken from you maybe then you will understand how the world works in multiple ways,” Mysterious as always, but I understand every word as she lays it all down. The world can take a lot away most of the time only giving back a little and in desperate situations there always arises desperate actions against those you don’t trust or fear.
“That didn’t answer my question and how does any of that help me figure out how to gain her trust and actually like me,” figure it out yourself dummy and pay attention to detail. Slithering out of my room I follow the wall slowly making my way to the glass door.
“Perhaps but – oh never mind, I think you are needing to go back to your pack soon do you agree,”
“Yes.” I have almost reached the door without making a peep, but Ensley abruptly turns around giving me a look that tells me I am not leaving anytime soon and there’s more that needs to be addressed. Turning to fully face her taking a small step from the door.
“I need to heal your wounds that haven’t finished and properly healed,” no, nope, not going to happen not going through this again. I do not need her to help with my injuries they are fine and are not causing me any pain whatsoever.
“I’m fine.” Dryly I spit out trying my best to get out of this house. Reaching for the handle my hand stumbles and only swats at air as Darius steps in front of it. Glaring at him he all but stares blankly looking me over for my injuries, him only seeing the small burn on my right arm. Ok so maybe not small as it covers most of my bicep and shoulder, but really it is not that bad. Instead of moving away he walks towards be forcing me to walk backwards to keep out of his reach. My legs bump into my couch and I look to see my escape options are blocked.
“Hold her down.” Ensley demands and for some unknown reason Darius listens to her, what in the world happened while she made me sleep.
Darius pushes me until my knees give out and I fall onto the cushions, he moves my legs over the side so I’m laying flat across the couch. He climbs over the back and pins my legs together with his then reaches for my arms before he can I use them to try and pull myself out from underneath him, but I don’t budge, and he only puts more weight onto my legs. Efficiently making it easier for him to reach up and hold my arms down by my biceps, he adjusts his grip making sure I can’t reach anything to break free.
“The process may get painful for her especially as black magic was used against her clearly is still in her system,” She looks down at me with a doleful expression. She has done this many times before and on far worse over the countless years, I have gotten use to the painful sting of her magic as it repairs my injuries.
Darius nods in awareness with a twinge of worry but hold be a little tighter and moving his body so he’s more comfortable and let me say its like a brick wall was stacked on me. Ensley puts her hands over my abdomen in an instant their glowing a soft yellow. Feeling my skin stich itself back together and all internal damage repair itself is not pleasant but uncomfortable enough Its painful. Once she is done all that’s left is a small tingling where the wound use to be which will fade overtime. I feel myself sink further into the cushions and his grip gets tighter, I look up at him and focus on his face as he watches Ensley’s every move as her hands move to my arm and he quickly realises he has to move his hand down to my elbow.
As the yellow light of magic touches my arm all I feel is a soaring white pain that makes me choke out a gasp of air before I can get any other sound out, my whines come out in quick successions. Letting my claws and fangs fall into place letting growls ripple out of me giving them full warning to stop and let me go, neither listen. I writhe against him trying to move realising no where for me to go, no gap for me to surge up and push him off all I can do is struggle against him. flexing my hands, I realize I can use my claws against him, holding onto his arms I dig my claws into his skin and feel it tear as the blood slides down my hand. He flinches as I claw his arm repeatedly, my body flinches against his again suddenly the white pain stops, and I fall back panting each breath out as my whines slowly cease including my growls. Craning my neck, I spot Ensley leaning against the wall steadying herself as she watches me, I plead with my eyes to not continue she just ignores me.
“I need to get the black magic out first this time before I can heal your wound hence why this one is going to be even more painful, I’m afraid that this one is going to be the worst and I need a clear line of sight and direct touch for it to work, so Darius if you will.” She states as her breathing comes to evening out again and moves off of the wall standing next to us.
“Don’t you dare.” Is all I can grit out before his hands release me and instantly, I am lifting myself up reaching for his, instead of catching his hands he shoves me back down and I feel his claws as they scape against my skin. His hold on my shirt tight as it takes him only a second to rip it in half, shock overtakes me as I’m left staring up at him seeing his expression change from a mask of cool calm to worry and slight fear, both send a grimace towards each other. Well suppose I better get myself prepared for what’s going to happen.
Spontaneously I’m back to thrashing around and growling and snarling like a feral animal this time around I can’t claw anything as Darius has my wrists pinned, my body doesn’t sit up due to Ensley’s hands on my chest. Sweat clamps to my body making me feel sticky and gross, it feels like my insides are on fire as well as acid crawling around my chest leaking into the rest of my body. Glancing down at my chest I see her hand and the soft glow on my skin early being able to feel her palms due to the acid coiling around. Where the girl left the dagger before her prompt death has left a black area that expands in tendrils reaching out finding places to hook themselves into. As one of them slowly recedes it’s like a thread pulling my skin then a knife slicing with a dull blade. The more tendrils that get dislodged the more my vison blurs and the hotter my body burns from the inside out. I have stopped struggling my growls quieten letting through more of my whines and whimpers, instead I’m wracked with shivers and uncontrollable shaking I can’t tell if its from the pain or intense heat because I can definitely rule out being cold.
“Is this supposed to be happening, it feels like she’s burning from the inside and its almost like her body is going into shock from the pain.” He asks with concern sketched over his face as I blurrily watch him as my eyes try to focus in on him, but my eyelids keep closing without me wanting them to I have to keep forcing them open for them to only close again.
“Yes, this is mainly my magic destroying the black magic and trying to heal the wound fully, she’ll be fine afterwards,” Her voice wavers as she focuses all of her energy on healing me without any complications. A loud ringing starts in my ears drowning out what might be being said.
What feels like eternity is only a couple minuets then the ringing stops everything seeming louder than before my eyelids stop wanting to close on me, a cold wave rushes over me the acidic feeling is gone, same as the moving of it in my chest. Gasping air into my lungs like a fish out of water, suddenly lurching on my side looking to the ground as bile rises than slowly burns as it goes down.
“Fuck you,” I say between pants and nausea sets in full force spilling the contents of my stomach on the floor. Rolling over onto my back putting my arm over my eyes and groaning from the pain as my body feels like a soggy blanket.
“You most likely have a small fever from the black magic, but it shouldn’t last for very long.” Ensley states as she walks over to a chair and falls into it.
“Great.”
