Chapter Thirteen: Blue
Blue was paired with a Hufflepuff named Travis Jones. What an annoying name. “So, it’s really cool that you’re a Hufflepuff.” Travis said. Blue stuck the shovel hard into the soil and contemplated flicking it into Travis’s face.
Travis looked nervous and continued talking. “You know, everyone’s like, stay away from the Malfoy’s. But I don’t know what they’re talking about.” Travis laughed nervously. “I mean, we’re hitting it off.”
Blue glared up at him before returning to shoveling more seeds in. Travis laughed again. “Draco- what an interesting name. Dray-co.”
“Will you shut up?” Draco yelled. Everyone turned to him. They wanted a show. They’d get one. “I’m not a Hufflepuff! This whole school is twisted against me! I’m going to Charms where I belong, in Slytherin.”
He didn’t look up to see Emilia, Natsuki’s or Brie’s expression. He just stormed away. I can’t go to Slytherin's class. I was sorted into Hufflepuff, they’d all think I was pathetic. He ended up just sitting outside the greenhouse. What’ll Father think when he hears that I also skipped out on class? I’m a failure, I’m a disappointment. Blue dug his hands into the grass and tore it.
A shadow fell over the grass and he looked up to see Professor Sprout. “Hey, Draco.” She sat down next to him. “Hogwarts isn’t what you’d hope it’d be?”
“It’s rigged. The sorting hat made a mistake. I’m a Slytherin.”
Sprout sighed. “Maybe that happened. You know, if you were sorted into Hufflepuff that would also be okay. Being a Hufflepuff means that you’re loyal. Hard working. A good sport.”
"Well, I’m not a good sport. So, therefore I’m not in Hufflepuff! I don’t want to be one of you.” Blue sort of regretted saying that. Sprout had been so… nice.
Sprout shrugged. “I don’t know that much about the Sorting Hat’s magic. However, I believe that you were put here for a reason. Until we figure out more about this do you think you could go to these classes? I’ve seen that you’ve made some friends here already.”
They’re not my friends- they did knight me as one of their friends. “Yeah.” Blue stood up.
Sprout smiled. “And Draco, come to my office whenever you want to, it’s right next to the greenhouse, the little hut. I have tea and wafers.” She patted him on the back. “Let’s get you back to class.”
They walked back. Before they got in, Blue paused, “hey, thanks.”
Sprout smiled. “Of course.” They then walked into the class. Blue waved at Travis, “hey.”
Travis smiled very nervously. “Hi?”
Blue sat down and started to dig again. Travis stared for a moment. “C’mon, let’s do the class activity. I can dig and you can put the seeds in.”
Travis nodded. “Uh, yeah. Let’s do this. Teamwork!”
Blue nodded and started digging. “Mhm.”
