“Aight, get outta the truck. We made it, alive” Toby said. I slowly exited his miracle of a vehicle to take a look outside, my surroundings were pretty much the same as they were back in our base. 

In front of me were some massive buildings, mostly all destroyed, some boulders, smoke, and well, yea. That was really it, to think the guy who owned what would now be considered the equivalent of a Bugatti would be in a place like this. 

“Oh what, not what you expected? Damn, I was really hoping you all would look more impressed” Toby chuckled. 

I sarcastically smiled before following him to some rocks. He then gave a proud grin before pulling out what looked like a remote control, he hit a button, and then BOOM! 

The ground in front of me opened up, I mean from the remote control. It was slowly opening, I could see gears attached working to pry it open. How the heck was this possible?

“Come on, show some excitement!” Toby yelled.

I didn't know what to say, no way this dude built this. Nah, he couldn't have. Where did he get the supplies, how did he not die while doing it? 

“I got time on my hands,” he said. 

He proceeded to jump in the hole the ground made while opening up. Barely a second later I heard him land, the hole definitely looked deeper than it was. Knowing that, I jumped in as well. 

It felt horrifying while it lasted, but that wasn't long. I was now standing in the legit replica of the batcave. It looked exactly the same, the thing was crazy! Large screens up front, multiple floors, and it was all underground!

“This is where I stay, it's how I'm not dead. At least a hundred people were with me making this, been a while since they were here though” Toby explained.

Harry carried Jason and jumped down as well, Emma followed him a bit after. They looked even more surprised than I did. 

“A hundred people were with you making this? What happened, Parasites got them?” I asked. 

Toby smiled, “yea, Parasites did get a bit of them. The rest killed each other. That's what happens when you try to make too many alliances”. 

The way he said that, he was talking to us, more specifically Jason. Toby had every intention of killing him, he was just waiting for me. 

“You guys rest up, do what you gotta do. Meet me in a bit though, we gotta talk about the plan” Toby told us before walking off. 

Oh no, things were about to get messy. Now to deal with the whole part about lying to Toby to not get killed. 

“Alright, we are finally here. This looks good, now maybe we talk to Toby about the fact that we haven't made up our minds yet” Jason said. 

“No, that won't work. Toby helped us so we can help him, that's what he wants. If he knows that's not what we want, my guess is he would wanna kill us. Especially you Jason” Emma replied. 

I glared at her, she didn't have to say that. 

“Then let's just make up our minds, I still say we go with him,” Harry whispered.

Jason struggled, but he put his hand up, “me to”.

I found it surprising, but after everything that happened this past year, I found myself nodding my head agreeing with them. All three of us were on board, it was just Emma now.

“Damn it, you guys know this isn't gonna work!” she yelled. 

“It will, trust me,” someone said. 

I looked up ahead to see, Toby! The heck, he was here? Toby laughed, and the guy pulled out his gun, he wasted no time after that pointing it towards Emma!

“Listen, unless you have something to offer, you're not worth helping. You don't wanna work with us on this, then screw you. I can kill you right here, but I'll be nice. Instead, get the heck outta my base!” he shouted. 

“Toby, what are you doing!” I screamed. “It's her choice, not mine,” he replied. 

The expression on Emma’s face changed, I expected her to say something back but no, instead she reached into her pocket and pulled something out. It was also a gun! Where did she get it? 

Without wasting another second, Emma pointed the gun, but not at Toby, she pointed it at Jason? 

“Alright Toby, if I shoot Jason right now, that little monster in him is probably gonna come out as back up, it may be temporarily but it would be enough to kill us all” Emma said. 

Toby dropped the gun, but Emma didn't, her gun was still pointed straight at Jason who looked horrified seeing it. 

“You piece of crap, fine, what do you want?” Toby asked.

“One of those nice trucks you got, med kit, food to last me more then a while, and a few of those weapons you keep stored. That's it”. 

I couldn't believe any of this was happening, it was all too fast to take in. 

“Alright, come with me. I'll get you what you want” Toby said.

Emma shook her head, “no, you go get it. I'll wait”. 

Toby looked pissed but he agreed, with that he was walking away and Emma was still standing in front of us all with the gun pointing towards Jason. 

Emma stared at us, she looked annoyed, but also not surprised. 

“Damn, so you're gonna blackmail Toby and use that to leave? Just like that?” I asked.

Emma nodded, “just like that”.

“I don't know what you guys expected me to do, this entire idea of stopping the Parasites, it wont work. You're all gonna end up dead, and I'm not gonna play along with it” she said.

 For a bit, no one said anything, I just didn't know what to say, but Harry broke the silence. 

“Emma, this isn't gonna work out for you. Think about what you're doing!”.

“There's nothing to think about, I stuck around with you guys this past year because it gave me advantages. Now you guys are throwing that away and getting yourselves killed, that means no more advantages are left for me” she said. 

“And that's all you want, advantages?” Jason asked. 

“No, that's all I need,” she answered. 

Toby came back a few minutes after, he threw a large bag and a key in front of Emma. 

“Take it, and get lost,” he said. Emma scuffed, and after completely checking to make sure Toby gave her everything, she picked it up, turned around, and began walking away. Toby pointed towards the exit, and she silently headed towards it. 

At this point, I was pissed, and I finally said something. “Emma, really?”. 

“Leo, I don’t give a damn about you guys, I really don’t. This way, when you all die, I don’t have to care”. 

That was it, she said nothing else and walked off without looking back again. She was gone, just like that.
