Hello to my dear readers, this is the Q&A you guys earned from inksgiving. I will try to answer these as best as I can.
What was your inspiration for creating this story?
When I came up with the idea I was reading a lot of omegaverse stories and I had a thought. What if I put an omega and an alpha together in a living situation in which the omega is terrified of alpas and the alpha is really bad at communicating. That’s what I started with and now I have My Alpha Roommate.
What do you study at college, and does it have some influence on your writing?
So I am an animal and dairy science major with a concentration in production management. I can thoroughly say it has no influence on my writing other than taking time away from it.
Will we know more about the time Mal got out of control?
There is a conversation between Mal and Fly in which Mal explains what happened. It’s actually coming up pretty soon.
Will we get another chapter on Mal's POV?
This is a funny question because it was asked before I started uploading the bonus chapter which is from Mal’s POV. However, I do plan to have more stories from Mal’s POV, but they are all just bonus chapters.
Geez mom's couldn't y'all have warned your kiddos on what their roommate would be?
They did this intentionally so that they wouldn’t reject the idea.
Like come on does the Alpha’s mom just not notice Omegas are scared of her child?
Oh trust me when I say she does notice, but momma wants grandkids, and she’s dead set on her son having kids with her best friend’s son.
And does the Omega’s mom not know Alphas frighten her child?
She is very aware, but her intentions are to put Fly with an alpha she trusts in hopes that Fly will learn to let go of his fears.
Also question, can I kill Fly’s dad? Please?
(I’m not sure if I should consider this a spoiler or not, but I’m going to answer this truthfully anyway)
Unfortunately, you can’t kill Fly’s dad because (like Mal’s dad) Fly’s dad is already dead by the time this story takes place. It’s never mentioned in the story, but Mal’s mom makes a comment about how the bastard got what he deserved in one of the extra chapters that I haven’t released yet and won’t for some time.
So we already basically know what their first impressions of eachother are, so my question is now that they know each other some, what do they think about each other?
(This answer does not include informatin from the Christmas bonus chapter as it takes place after the current time line of the posted story.) At this point they have known each other for barely a day. They still haven’t formed solid opinions of one another yet, but that’s to be expected since they still have more to learn about each other. However, at this point Fly is warming up to Mal. He doesn’t see him as a threat anymore, but he is still worried about what Mal is capable of and is concerned with what Mal thinks of him. At this time, he also finds Mal to be a bit annoying and pushy. Mal is clearly falling for Fly and would do anything to protect the precious little bean. He thinks Fly is cute and thinks his art skills are incredible. This is all I can really say from this point of the story.
I see you did a comic extras for your main story. Do you plan to do something like that for this one at some point? I think it would be pretty cool to see stuff like their first meeting, the scene on Mal’s bed when they were cuddling......both bed cuddles, and of course this here when he sees the waterfall and the kiss.
So I actually plan to turn the Missing Pieces extras into general comic extras for all my stories. I just haven’t done it yet. I have plans to make images for the bonus chapters, but it takes me quite some time to create art that I’m happy with. I’d also like to mention that the thumbnail is actually Fly walking into the dorm for the first time. I plan to do more thumbnails like this as the story goes on. I’ll add the thumbnail image here so that it’s hopefully easier to see.
I also like to note that I’ve changed their designs a little bit since making this thumbnail. The changes can be seen in the inksgiving poster in the announcement update
These are questions that were asked on previous episodes that I have already answered, but I would like to revisit them for people who don’t read the comments as well as take the time to discuss them a bit more.
Are they half-human half-wolf? I saw your cover and they have tails and ears.
The characters are anthropomorphic which at this point in the story should be clear as I mention tail and ear placements from time to time. Not all of the characters are wolf based and even though they haven’t been mentioned yet, not all the characters are Canidae based. However, I would like to discuss where the traits of the characters y'all have met were inspired from. Fly is inspired by African wild dogs, but that's been mentioned in the novel. Linda is also inspired by the African wild dogs and although y'all will never meet his dad, he is also African wild dog based, making Fly a "purebred." (Discussins of pure breds will come up in the novel eventually when Fly meets his best friend.) Mal is inspired by a shaggy mutt with no distinct breed. And although I haven’t mentioned Mary’s appearance yet, she is inspired by the mexican gray wolves which is where I derived Mal’s coloring. His father was a mix breed with long curly hair whose lineage couldn't be traced. And though it’s not mentioned yet, Richard (the R.A) is beagle inspired.
I think Maelstrom’s completely smitten, but he doubts his worthiness. He wants to protect and care for Fly and he says Fly is different. I think Fly’s omega is attracted to Maelstrom’s alpha but he has not developed feelings yet. Maybe they’re mates?
Bond mates isn't something that I've written into this omegaverse since I didn't want to do the “I'm attracted to you because of some bond that controls me” trope. Although alphas in this world can claim mates it’s not some all encompassing bond that makes them bound to one another by love. As mentioned, Alphas can leave anyone they claim. It’s Omegas and Betas that are affected by mating since they will never be able to love someone other than the alpha who claimed them. And this inability to love another isn’t because of love, but rather a chemical and anatomical reaction. It’s not mentioned in the story yet why alphas have this ability so I’ll leave that part to the story.
While I'm here, I'm also going to drop my social media.
