Just so you all know this won't be a continuous flow, it would take much too long to tell this story if I wrote down everything to tell you all, but tell you my….our story is just something I feel I must do. Someone needs to know and maybe if it ever happens again, to us or another world maybe just maybe it will help them beat it.
Months have now passed since our birthdays, and since the day we met we have hardly been apart, we have spent every second of the day that we can with each other, it's like we can't get enough of each other. Nights are torture to us, and the fact that we have to wait twelve more years to be married is double the torture. Our parents say it is because they are giving us the east and west lands. They are having our homes built now, and that is why we must wait. Our homes need to be built, and if we want them as big as our main home then it's going to take awhile. Not that that even mattered to me, honestly I wouldn't have even cared if the home was as big as the homes in our villages, but it's not like our mothers would listen to that. Typically Royals have huge families, but for some reason there's only us four. Maybe our parents will have children again soon, I hope they do. I would love to have siblings other than my brother. It didn't matter how many times we have said that a small home will be more than fine. They just brush it off saying that our soon to be charges may view us having smaller homes to mean that we are not as important and therefore to be treated as an equal, and not as their ruler. I mean I guess that makes sense in a way, but still. I guess I can understand that. It's just so frustrating to have to wait. Our homes won't even be finished until it's almost been the damn twelve years we are being made to wait. Some days I wish we were commoners at least then we could be married when we wanted to. I think I speak for all of us when I say that time needs to speed by fast.
*************
Today while walking through the town I noticed something seemed off with a few of the citizens. Some looked as if they had aged a year in one night, but aging stopped after we turn two thousand. Yes,I know it seems a little weird that we are considered adults one thousand years before we stop aging. I don't know why that is. I don't even think our eldest knows, and he is three hundred thousand years old. These guidelines have been in place since the beginning of our race. I passed by many people who on my birthday had looked as they always did, now seemed to have aged hundreds of years. They looked like they could be called our eldest, but in reality they were anywhere from twenty thousand to fifty thousand years of age. I stopped one of them, her name is Maggie. I ask how she feels. She looks at me and shakes her head. “I have not been well, a lot of us have not been well. We are dying every day. Every morning I look in the mirror and see that I have aged a year as though I was a mere mortal. I mean I know they do not agea year overnight but they age every year” She said. I thought silently about what this could be, no disease that I have ever heard of would cause sudden rapid aging.
“Do you remember doing anything different right before this started?” I asked. She couldn't pick out any one thing that stood out to her. I told her that I would inform my parents of this news and investigate it further myself. I talked to many more people who looked to have aged many years. Not a single one of them could think of any one thing that may have started the aging. Before leaving this side I put out that I would like all those who have started to age to write down any and everything they could think of that happened before their aging started and send it to us for review. To show my parents that I was taking my responsibilities seriously, I journeyed to the western lands, and searched for people who have been aging when they shouldn't be. Those that I found and questioned also could not think of one thing, and I asked them too, to also make a list of things that they had done or had happened before the aging started and send it to us. This is truly worrisome. I immediately went home and to my parents office space. “Mother, Father, I apologize for just barging in, but I have some extremely worrisome news about our people.” I said as soon as I entered the room. My Mother and Father looked up at me with worry on their faces knowing I was about to give some very bad news. I never just barge in on my parents when they are in their office.
“What is it sweetie?” Mother asked. “What's wrong?” Father asked at the same time.
I took a deep breath and slowly began, I told them how I had noticed the other day that people were starting to look older when they shouldn't be, and then I told them what I did today, and handed them the few notes I made, and let them know that our people would be sending their own notes soon. “Thank you sweetie. We will look these over, we will see if we can spot a consistency in what they told you.” Mother said. There was nothing more I could do today so I wrote my beloved a letter. He and his sister went home some weeks ago. I left out my discovery, I wasn't sure if my parents wanted to get a hold of his, to find out if the same is happening in their half of the kingdom. So I kept the letter simple. Then sent it with my hawk.
Niklaus and I sent letters every day, and not just one letter it was three or four, or how ever many we can while we learn what our new roles as rulers are, and getting tips on things we shouldn't do, things our parents had tried, and either learned it didn't work, or that the people reacted negatively. My parents repeatedly told me and my brother that sometimes the rules we make that our people don't like need to stay, but that some may not need to be the way they are and can be changed for the better. Our parents would test us, give us scenarios that may happen, like what would we do if multiple villages under our rule suddenly had a spike in numbers, that the birth rate went up. “That's easy.” I said. “Some rulers might put a limit on how many children a couple can have in the home. This is not something I would implement, because our people tend to have big families. I would look over all of my villages and find the ones with low birth rates and give a family a home in the new village. But it could be problematic as well, because people may not want to move from the home they may have grown up in, in that case I may just have extra rooms built onto the family's home to make room for the new family members, this would be no problem because our country is so large we are able to give our people large plots of land. But I believe that no one family should have more land just because their family is bigger. It doesn't seem fair to me.” Both Mother and Father approved of my idea, and my brother agreed with me too. I had been given a week by my Mother to come up with a strategy for that question. I came to them with my answer two days later. Many things happen over the course of the week
