“Rules are simple. Whoever he leaves with wins. When we leave, I never want to see your face again. Understood?” Len felt the need to mention the rules again. It was all very silly. Not only the fact that they would let a random human decide who was better, but the game of charming humans was also something any vampire worth their salt should be able to do. Of course, charming worked differently for everyone, but even though Len hated to admit it, Fell and them were most likely on the same level in that regard. Which meant that this ended up solely being a show on looks and preference of type of their prey. Which was… Dumb.
“Yes, however, one small correction. After I leave with the human, I’ll come find you again, and again, and again, and play with you like a little mouse that will always have to be aware of the big bad kitty, Love.” Fell smiled. Genuinely. Len wanted to punch him but kept it to themselves. If anything was worse than the smirking, grinning and fake smiles Fell had complete control over, it was the genuine ones. Seeing Fell genuinely happy was the most utterly terrifying thing Len could imagine, something they wouldn’t even wish on their worst enemy. Which happened to be Fell. So in a way, Len simply just wished for Fell to not be happy, in a very round-about way.
Len gave a sigh. If Fell won, they would probably never get another chance to get permanently rid of him again. It wasn’t like much would change if they didn’t win, but it would only lead to an eternity of constantly looking over their shoulder. Playing with Len seemed to be Fell’s bread and butter, or in vampire terms, blood and lifeforce. The only reason Fell had gone into this, was because Len knew exactly how much he hated anyone looking down on him. But it would only work once.
“After you, Love.” Fell said once again, smiling as he reached out a hand, that Len once again smacked away. They walked, side by side, over to the unassuming human, that would be the star and conclusion of a mostly one-sided war, that had been in the works for hundreds of years.
“Can I buy you a drink?” Fell asked in his smooth voice, as he dumped down on one side of the human.
“Only if I can buy you one first.” The human smiled as he waved over the bartender. Len sat down quietly on the other side, waiting for a better chance. The game was already on, and they wouldn’t let any chance of getting the upper hand slip by.
“Well of course, I’d be delighted.” Fell sent a quick flash of a smile to the human, and by extension, Len, who was keeping an eye on the situation unfolding in front of them.
“A drink for…?” The human started talking to the bartender, but looked to Fell before he continued.
“Fell.” Fell said, as he by accident gave him his real name. Vampires tended to use aliases whenever they were out, simply because it was easier and safer. Especially places they would only be at a single time. And this was a one-time-thing. After tonight, Len would either be free or in eternal hell, but the human wouldn’t be part of either.
“Abryn. Well, a drink for my new friends, Fell, and uuuuuuh.” Surprisingly Abryn took the first step towards Len. He turned to them with an inquiring look. Without much of anything, much less thinking, Len looked Abryn straight in the eyes. Big blue eyes that seemed to have a few green specks mixed in, forming the illusion of an ocean, took away the ability to properly think.
“Len.” Len said, also surprised at hearing their own name.
“And for Len. The usual for me.” Abryn finished, looking up at the bartender, who nodded and went to make the order.
“I see you come here often?” Fell stated, with a question of ‘why’ hidden inside of it. Len was still looking for a better chance, and the drink offering had taken them by surprise, so they kept quiet for now.
“I like this place. It brings… Interesting people.” Abryn said with a small smile in the corner of his mouth, not diving deeper into the conversation.
“Doesn’t every bar in every place have interesting people? In my experience, the night brings along with it a lot of interesting things, simply by having the moon out. People get so easily moonsick, after all. Makes us do crazy things.” Fell didn’t keep any words back. His charm made the things he was saying seem innocent and playful, but Len became uncomfortable. They knew better than to listen for how things were said, and instead listened to the words.
“I would have to agree. I know I feel like doing something crazy tonight, already.” There was a wink in Abryn’s voice. He took a quick look up and down Fell, then changed his direction and did the same to Len.
“Very crazy indeed.” He affirmed himself, as the drinks got placed in front of the three.
“Do you believe the moon is at fault?” He continued to talk, this time to Len, who once again got lost in the eyes of the human, but more than that, got surprised at how he seemed to have completely taken over the situation.
