Len took a quick look over at Fell who seemed a tiny bit confused as to how he had lost control of the situation after a single sentence, which made Len even more uncomfortable. Fell and Len should, by all means, have the upper hand. It wouldn’t be weird for either of them to be the front-runner of conversation. Most likely Fell, who would have naturally assumed the role, as he was a talker rather than a listener, and Len was a listener rather than a talker. But both knew how to do both. How to make humans interested in listening or telling them their secrets.
So a human completely overtaking and controlling the flow of conversation was rare to the point of being suspicious. However, there was no backing out. An annoyed look left Len as they stopped looking at Fell, and got back to the human.
“I don’t believe we can blame the moon. It is human nature to blame outside forces and not take any responsibility for their own actions, in case something goes too far.” Len said, honestly, forgetting to turn on their charm and relatability. Normally when hunting, they would be another Len. The Len that could get multiple humans to willingly go with them, if they so wished. But somehow their real thoughts once again flew out of them. First a name. Then some thoughts. What would be next? Len wondered with a bit of a forming lump of fear in their throat.
Fell, on the other hand, was fascinated. Seeing the human move and talk almost made rivalry blossom between him and Abryn. However, that was not the goal of tonight. What should have been a simple game and the ultimate revenge had turned into quite an interesting encounter. Even more interesting was it how a mere human managed to make Len lower their guard, Fell noticed.
“Human nature. Haha, you speak as if you weren’t one yourself.” Abryn laughed, as he took a sip of his drink. Clinking of ice cubes sounded in the glass, as he moved it around, pulling Len out of their fear and giving them a moment to gather themselves. Pulling themselves together.
“Haha, maybe I am simply disassociating as I too, feel like doing something crazy tonight, but I am simply not ready to admit it is my own wants and desires. So maybe I too, will blame the moon in this case.” Len had found it. The little switch that turned on the charm and the Len that could convince people to die for them, if they so choose.
“Don’t forget about me, Love. Blaming others is what I do best, and I would hate to be left out of this kind of fun.” Fell chimed in, having taken a slight sip of his drink. The tension kept growing as Abryn smiled and Len found their standing. Even though it sounded like Len and Fell both had found their words, the human was still in control. Making the game harder than they bargained for.
“Oh, I didn’t mean to exclude you. My offer to do some crazy stuff and blame the moon was for the both of you, after all. Didn’t I make myself clear?” Abryn didn’t just have control over the conversation, but the entire situation. Neither Len nor Fell could back down, their pride wouldn’t allow them, but none of them had seen it coming that there was a risk involved in the game they were playing. There was a loophole they hadn’t thought about.
Their prey could choose both. Or neither. Their confidence had blinded them, as they had both seen their own victory painted in very vivid colors. Fell had seen himself leaving with the human, sending one of his lovely smirks to Len in a ‘you’re next’ kind of way, knowing he had won in every sense of the word. On the other hand, Len had seen themselves walking away with the human, after sending Fell the absolutely most gleeful and mocking look they had practiced in secret in front of the mirror, because despite popular belief vampires did have a reflection, for years, all the while mouthing a little ‘See you never… LOVE.’ In a whisper that would only be audible for vampires.
But here they were. Neither having the upper hand, and both having to scramble to keep some sense of control.
“What an enticing offer.” Fell was the first to break the silence. He jumped right onto the road that had been put in front of him. There was no backing down, no backing out, and he would see where this interesting turn of events took him. He knew Len wouldn’t be able to back out either, if he jumped on first.
“I’d have to agree.” Len said, hiding his disagreement behind a pleasant smile and a sip of his drink, that seemed to have been emptied rather quickly compared to the other two’s, that still had more than half left of theirs.
“Why, I’m happy to hear that.” Abryn said, taking his drink and throwing it down his throat in a certain eagerness. He seemed rather pleased with himself as he started to stand up, giving a sign with his finger for Len and Fell to follow.
Fell emptied his drink in one fell swoop before standing up, as a genuine and interested smile started forming on his lips. He hadn’t felt this excited for a while. Len simply stood up, following obediently. There wasn’t much for them to do. As Fell and Len were slightly behind Abryn, they sent each other looks.
Looks of what to do next, as the game clearly hadn’t been settled, nor was it over.
“We simply need to change the rules a bit, Love.” Fell whispered, smirking. He knew what he was going to suggest, but wanted to see if he could get Len to suggest it themselves.
“Whoever can satisfy the human wins…” Len whispered back, as they didn’t like what they were saying. Bedding a human was one thing. Bedding FELL was another. And it annoyed them even more that Fell seemed to have no problem with that idea. It wasn’t as if Len was a stranger to threesomes, foursomes, or even full-blown orgies, but never had they ever wanted to sleep with someone who was actively ruining their lives over and over.
However, pride and the chance of getting rid of him forever won out, and Len lost a tiny bit of themselves in the process.
“Be careful I don’t satisfy you in the process as well. You might just lose on purpose to get another taste.” Fell purred as he took a step forward to get up to the human’s side. Len silently swallowed the urge to puke. They didn’t have anything that could actually come up, as their system didn’t work, but just like the mental goosebumps, the urge to puke felt strong and real. Fell tended to be able to bring out a lot of human urges in Len, and they hated it.
“I could say the same to you.” Len hissed, more out of spite than the actual intention to try and go through on their word. Fell thought to himself he looked forward to it, and smiled at the reaction he had seen coming. Oh yes, this was going to be fun, he thought.
