CHAPTER 12

TIME TOGETHER

“Anouke. So much time has passed. I’ve lost count of how long. And… The Angels Antagonism may be coming out again soon… A-and… So could Dayle and Akuma.”
“I know. But we’re prepared. No need to worry. If Dayle and Akuma don’t come and it’s just other Demons, we’ve got it, right?”
“Yeah. Yeah, we have.”

They both sighed. “How much time together have we got?” Lex asked suddenly, catching Anouke off guard. “Well… What do you mean? You make it sound like you’re leaving!” Anouke awkwardly joked, nervously laughing whilst he waited for what Lex was going to say next.
“No, nothing like that… Akuma may take me away. Or even Dayle, that shithead.”
“Lex, we will always be together, okay? We won’t let anybody take the other away.”
“Mhm.” Lex mumbled, still unsure.
“Listen, Lex. Listen to me. We’ll be fine. Nobody is going to take the other away. We’ve been using magic, right? I mean, you somehow even beat me! Well, I guess we weren’t putting in 100% effort or power, so… We could try again if that’ll help calm you down.”
“I would agree, but when I’m angst and nervous, I kind of get angry and get pretty violent. Worse than last time when I kept hitting you with constant attacks.”

“If it’ll blow of some steam…”
“No!” Lex demanded. “We’re not doing it.” He thought back to the past. When he was angry after being scolded for being with an Angel. He was using powerful attacks on other Demons in the group. They knew he was the son of the Devil so couldn’t do anything but ignore it, even though it hurt. He was breaking things when Akuma had enough and hit him. Then went as far as punishing him by locking him in his room and binding all the escape routes. It was terrorizing in the situation, though it didn’t sound it saying it aloud.

“Okay…” Anouke said with a croaky voice.
“Sorry.”
