The ringing tone of my phone scares me. But soon enough my mom picks up.
"Honey, why did you call? Did you want some eggrolls?"
"No, I don't care about egg rolls, I need you to come to Grandpa's NOW!"
"Ok, I don't know why, but it seems urgent. Goodbye."
She hung up. I am filled with fear and sadness.
"Ben, tears are the words the heart cannot express. Gerard Way."
"Is that going to happen a lot?"
"Yes."
I open the Real News app on my phone.
"Hello, I am Kaya Lamonsoff from the Real News Reporter Department or RNRD. We are getting reports that missiles are going to be shot at the asteroid. If you are watching this then get out near Granny Betty's Grocery Store."
"That's where Mom is! I gotta call her!" But then the worst happened, my phone died. "AAGGHH!!!" I smash my phone on the ground. Tiny pieces of silvery glass hit the ground. "Don't you have a phone?!"
"No."
I looked back at my pancake phone. "No one normal can do that right?"
"Your right." But just then the ground shook. Then the lights went out.
14-year old Ben has found that ever since the 89% of the Earth's population disappeared, strange things have been happening, things he can't explain. What's even more concerning is that his grandfather is weakening. Is he the only one with the power to save them?
