Done with tying my shoes. "Mom, I'm at the garden if you need anything okay?"
Noticing me, my mother replied "Ah, let me call the maid to go along with—"
"No need mom, I'm fine going alone!" Cutting her off while running to the garden.
"Really? be safe then honey."
"That boy sure grow fast huh..." Hayla interrupted.
"Yeah right. We didn't even get to teach him anything because he already know most of the things. He even tied his shoes for the first time without anyone's help." Kaera replied.
"You really got a lucky one Kaera. You didn't have to do much after all." Hayla grinned.
"I wonder if that so..." Kaera replied in an upsetting tone.
——
"Pluck!"
I picked a blue flower out of curiosity.
"No matter how many times I've seen them, they sure still look odd..." I mumbled while touching the flower, a glow resurface as a response.
Time flies really fast and before I can notice it, I'm almost 4 years old now.
Just like any other normal kid, I too can already start to walk.
Though I don't think I spent most of these past years living like a normal kid.
Being realised that I've been reincarnated to another world without a further notice. I began to study about this unknown world I've been reborn to.
The library room in this mansion sure helps me a lot with that.
With that being put, this mansion is huge than what I can imagine. It's probably because it's my first time experiencing living in a mansion.
Thinking that, I began to climb up onto the hut's bench and sat on it.
Now that I've seen it again, the dark sky in this world really is beautiful. You really can't compare the sky here with the earths one. It never gets boring staring at those weird star patterns everyday.
Over this past years, I've already come to a conclusion that this planet is orbiting over a small red star called Red Dwarf¹.
Because from what I can remember studying science is that the star called Red Dwarf has a surprisingly low temperature and a small size. So maybe that's why this planet receives such a weak light.
Though if according to science, in this kind of temperature lives would simply be nonexistent. But to cover that up, livings in this world has been blessed by the power of Fis.
'Just like those mana-like stuff huh', that was my first thought when I discovered it from the books.
But the thing is, it isn't really that simple.
Fis is an energy that has already existed within this world nature.
Fis is like a second heart and a third hand to the living here. Meaning that the living here can't live without the existence of Fis.
Just like how earth beings have been living by breathing oxygen, this world beings have been living by making use of the Fis.
That's all the theory I've come up by myself just by reading the library books in the mansion.
I haven't seen much the usage of Fis myself. But what I can tell from watching mother and Hayla using it in their daily life is, it works just like a telekinesis.
Moving things from a distance like how Hayla picked her clothe from afar or manipulating matter like how mother used to heal me back then.
Still, I haven't really gotten the grasp on how to use Fis yet. Though the books has written that every being has a Fis. I wonder if that's just a made up lie.
Thinking of that, I sniffed the flower I just picked from the garden. "Mmm.. sweet."
"Hm?" Suddenly I can feel someone was trying to sneak on me.
"Boo!" Hayla beamed.
Being startled I let out "Gaah!?".
"Hahaha! You totally got scared there!" Hayla laughed.
Staring at the woman annoyingly, I jumped off the bench, then started walking away making my way inside the mansion.
Approaching me, Hayla teased "Hey now~ are you sulking? It was a joke you know? A joke~"
"A very funny joke." I replied while making an annoyed face.
"Now now~" Hayla trying to convince me.
Out of the blue, she suddenly made an amends "For an apology, how about I bring you to our work lab? Kaera and I were about to go there after all."
Now that she mention it, in these past years, I remember that sometimes Hayla would say goodbyes to me on the morning before she went to somewhere.
It looks like she went to works at someplace she called laboratory.
Out of curiosity, I asked "Laboratory? Is there a lot of interesting stuff there?"
"I don't know if the things there matched your interests though." Hayla replied.
"What kind of works do you and mother do actually?" I asked.
"Despite your big sis looking like this, my position is actually quite high in this region, you know~?" Hayla boasted while making a proud face.
"Cool," I replied in an irritated tone "Then, what kind of works does this 'high status' person do?"
"Well, it's kind of difficult to explain. But to sum it up, we do experiments on Fis utilization to increase its usefulness."
"Like what?" I asked.
"As an example, recently one of our worker party succeeds on creating their new prototype of Fis-powered weapon. And there's also the group who succeeds on upgrading the Fis-vision goggle last month. There's a ton of other things as well, but it will took me forever to finish it." Hayla replied.
For a moment there, I really did feel an admire feeling towards Hayla and accidentally let out a "Woah..."
Hearing my breath, Hayla preached. "Hehe~ Now you know just how awesome your big sis right?"
Getting my posture back, I rolled my eye "Yeah right."
Then, I asked again. "What about mother? Does she also has the same work as you?"
"Yup, but unlike me, she has the lead role in our group" Hayla replied.
"Ohh," I let out a small voice. "Then what kind of stuff did mother's group has invented?" I asked.
"That is... a secret!" Hayla smiled wryly "That is for you to see it yourself."
No longer holding back, I stated. "It cannot be helped then, I'll follow you to the lab."
"Then it's decided." Hayla finishing our conversation.
Arriving at the door Hayla then began talking with my mother about the previous matter and I heard a voice "Oh, really?" being letted out by my mother.
My mother turning her head to me and said. "Get ready then Levn, in about 1 hour we'll be going to the laboratory."
——
While the maid was dressing me at the mirror. I looked at my reflection.
A pure white skin with a reddish feature just like everyone around here.
Then I took a glimpse on my face.
Looks like I took after my mother.
But still, if you ask me, I can't tell wether I like my new look or not.
It's kinda... appealing.
You might wonder why I said that in unpleasing way.
In my past life, people would approach me despite the fact that I don't talk much.
Why? Because I'm a bit good-looking, that's what they told me.
And it's tiring to deal with those half-baked conversations and gazes.
Thinking that, a brush can be felt on my head as the maid was brushing my hair.
Moreover, my hair surprisingly has a light blonde colour.
It's not the plain black colour I've grown tired off.
But the thing is, no one in this house has a blonde hair. They all have grey and white hair. There's no one with blonde hair.
Something is not adding up.
Perhaps, am I adopted?
No way that could be the case.
Even I myself, saw the one who gave births to me.
Wait, now that I think about it, I have never seen my own father. Mother has never said a word about it either.
Isn't that a good thing?
I would rather not having a father since that presence can trigger my past life's traumas.
But in spite of that, I'm still curious.
Well, I'll ask mother about it later.
——
"Oh, you're surprisingly early Levn." Mother said in a happy tone.
Noticing my mother I replied. "Ah, yes. Um, mother I have a questi—"
"Levn! Kaera! Hurry up!" Interrupting our conversation, Hayla shouted from the horse carriage.
"Alright!" Mother shouted back at Hayla. Then we went toward the horse carriage that gave off a noble-like impression.
Getting on the carriage, Hayla muttered. "You looks nice on that outfit, Levn."
"It's quite uncomfortable." I replied bluntly.
"Well, it's your first time wearing a suit after all." Hayla chuckled.
"Hihiin!" The coachman whipped the horse and the carriage began to move.
Looking out the window, I look at the buildings. They seems to be designed in classical block and palladian style.
Most of the buildings shows an extensive rectangular, square look with a flat or low hanging roof and an exterior filled with repeated pattern, columns and arches.
Afterwards, I focused my eye at the people wandering around. They all has a pure white skins and hairs with slightly different shades. It's a view anyone would be impressed.
"Still, I'm surprised that our little Levn here wanted to follow along" Mother mumbled. "By the way, what is the actual reason that made you want to come with us?"
"Well, I heard from Hayla is that the laboratory has many things related to the Fis" I said.
"Which means, you are interested in Fis?" Mother asked.
"Yeah" I smiled wryly.
"Well It can't be helped right~? Hearing the action of those past heroes. He must have wanted to learn about Fis too. Aren't every little boy like that?" Hayla interrupted.
"You're not wrong." Mother chuckled.
Huh, what heroes are we talking about?
I've never heard of them.
Is it like spider-man or something?
I may have forgotten about them since I was not interested back then.
Remember... remember...
Oh! It's the tale that Hayla always told when we were in the library together. About how the heroes from every continent came to stop a demon guy called Ausiris from bringing destruction upon this world thousands of years ago.
Now that I remember it, there's also a tale about how the Labyrinth places were created by that Ausiris guy. They also have a second name called 'Ausiris's curse' if I'm not mistaken.
I don't know if that is a true story or just a made-up tale by the people in this world.
But if it's true, then I'm glad the heroes stopped that guy from destroying this world. Because I wouldn't be reincarnated if that happens.
Suddenly, the carriage stopped.
While losing in thought, we were already arriving at the laboratory before noticing.
"Is that the laboratory?" My eyes widened.
"Yeah, isn't it pretty?" Mother grinned.
The building design and textures was not like what I was expecting.
I expected a shabby laboratory but, this doesn't looks like a laboratory at all.
From here, all I can see is a vast garden being separated into four parts by the brick road. Every each of the garden has a different pattern of planted flowers bed, in between of each of them, there are two water fountains. Further on, there stand a massive white building with a cyan coloured roof, half-pyramid roofs on the side and a bonnet roof in the middle, filled with architectures. It looks exactly like a palace.
Inside the door gate, I can already see people with white coats walking around, looking like scientists.
I let out an admiring voice "Woah..."
So this is The Laboratory.
