JASLENE HAD CALLED HIM confirming that he was on the way to the theater. After crying his heart out in front of his aunt, he ate breakfast and ate mint chocolate ice cream while watching gory horror movies. Aunt May wanted to know what was going on but he couldn’t really say it without wanting to cry. Then when it was time he got ready in a nice suit he bought with his aunt for a wedding he had to go a few months ago and waited for James to pick him up.
James had picked him up right on time and they went and picked up the flowers at very nice flower shop and he made sure the nicely wrapped up present was in his bag.
He was silent the whole ride, James didn’t know what to say this time and Jaslene was the one that knew what to say at times like these. It was mostly Jaslene that could tell whether he was ready to talk or vent or not. But now Jaslene was away busy preparing for her big time on stage.
The duo had made to the theater and went in; the place was noisy with parents and guests making their way to their seats. Beau followed James to through the crowd slowly making their way to their own seats, next to Jaslene’s family. They received them with open arm the whole family was excited.
“Hey.” Jaslene’s brother greeted them as they sit down next to him. James nodded at him doing fist bump and Beau shyly waved hi back. When he was younger he had a huge crush on Jaslene’s brother until he realize that he was straight and he saw him more like a brother now.
Once Beau settled in his seat his eyes wandered around but his mind was back to the moment of yesterday. Noticing his hands were shaking, he clasped them together tightly as if it would stop them from shaking. It didn’t help that his anxiety was at its peak and being in a crowded place didn’t help much but he wanted to be there for his best friend. It’s not about me, it’s Jaslene. That thought he repeated in his head over and over again.
Once the red curtain went up he put his focus on the performance in front of him. He wanted to witness his friend on her big debut and he won’t let his thought ruin that for him.
“JAS!” James shouted out once he spotted the dolled up ballerina walked out to greet everyone who came to watch her. Her face brightened up once she saw them. James held the big bucket of flower to her. Beau stood next to James watching them interact. Jaslene was beautiful on stage, her elegance and graceful moves was seen throughout her performance. It was like the stage was made for her. He understood why she loved being under the spotlight dancing her heart out.
“Here. For you.” Beau spoke once it was his turn. He held out a nicely wrapped up present to her. He made sure to get it wrapped up in her favorite color and a simple flower taped on top. Jaslene gasped taking the gift slowly.
“Oh, B. you didn’t have to.” Jaslene said smiling brightly. “Thank you.” She slowly pulled him in to a hug with his permission. He tensed up slightly but relaxed into her hug. “I wanted to.” He said smiling fondly.
“How about we take a group photo?” Jaslene’s mom walked over holding a camera. Everyone agreed and bundled up together for the photo. On the count of three and several photos later they all went out to a Chinese restaurant to eat and celebrate.
When he got home all he wanted was lie in his bed curled up and pout for the rest of the day but his aunt had other ideas.
“B, get your ass up so we can talk.” The said woman sat down on his bed and pulled away his covers. Groaning he raised his head and stare at her with puppy eyes. “Aunt May, I’m tired…” His words came out muffled by his pillow. Aunt May rolled her eyes, crossing her arms and giving him her no nonsense expression.
Sitting up quickly next her Beau crossed his arms hugging his knees. “Now, tell me. Did something happen?” She asked him, he could hear her worry through the tone of her voice. Beau felt embarrassed, he had cried like a child and was depressed over a man that didn’t even really reject him.
“I… Aunt May, I have this guy I like, he’s amazing and very pretty. I think I liked him for almost a year now and he always comes to the coffee shop buying his favorite drink, it’s the first drink I memorized so I can quickly make it for him. Almost two weeks ago I did something and I think he saw it and now he hates me.”
Beau pulled the skin of his index finger as he told his Aunt the whole situation. Aunt May slapped his hand pulling it away to inspect it. “Don’t do that.” She stared at him sternly, gently putting her hand on his hands. “I think you just gave me a whole lot of information yet some are missing but what I did get is that, you like this guy and he knows now, right?”
Beau nodded. His aunt always understood his gibberish or rushed talks and speeches. It made him wonder if she could read his mind sometimes.
“Then, did he say anything to you? What he feels or thinks?” Beau shook his head because he was afraid of Mylo’s reaction he ran away before the guy could say anything.
“I ran… away from him. I panicked!” Beau groaned lowering his head in his arms hiding his face. He heard his aunt laughing making him feel even more embarrassed.
“Well, how about now that you have calmed down, you could go and speak to him. Face to face and get his answer. Maybe it would be as bad as you thought.”
Beau looked up to his aunt smiling face. As if a whole lot of pressure was taken of his shoulders he nodded.
“Okay. I’ll try.”
