Joonanm was led to a smaller but still luxurious room.
“This is your new home.” Alibek proudly stated, putting his hand on the boy’s shoulder.
“Why was I in your room to begin with?”
“Do you prefer my room?” The man responded selfishly.
Joonam backed away nervously. “Just leave me alone.”
“You start tomorrow. Get some rest.”
He couldn’t sleep that night. He could only think about the horrors that would ensue the following morning. The room he would be staying in was nothing like he had ever seen. His head sunk into the large purple pillow, soft to the touch. Maybe this won't be so bad. He thought to himself. It’s not like I have anywhere else to go. The sleeping beauty was awoken by a loud crunch. At the door stood none other than Alibek eating an apple. He was wearing nothing but a gray robe; legs bare in the chill room.
“Y’know if it’s too cold my doors are open.” Alibek smirked.
“What the fuck? No.”
The muscular figure stood astonished by Joonam’s answer.
“Stop by the dining hall when you’re ready.”
The royal quickly left the room leaving neatly folded garb on Joonam’s bedside. He got dressed quickly, somehow knowing how to align the complicated layers. How did he know my size? He worried. A tall woman with long black hair dressed in a maid uniform walked into the room.
“I’m Afet. I will be looking after you. Please follow me.” She said impatiently.
Joonam was led to a long dining table with as many as 20 chairs. Alibek was seated in the corner, waiting for his arrival. At the table were sultans dressed in ceremonial attire. Sitting across Alibek and Joonam was a wealthy Ayatollah eyeing the new resident. One of the sultans stood up.
“Alibek, who have you brought this time?”
“It’s my plus-one.”
“This isn’t a fancy dinner party. There shouldn’t be anyone else in here other than our guest.” The withered man roared.
“Go do something useful, servant.” Alibek quietly stated.
Joonam left slowly without saying a word. As he was walking, he overheard one of the royals.
“How many so-called servants have you had now? Six? Seven?”
Afet was waiting outside the doors, which were real this time. She started walking while Joonam followed.
“What did he mean by a so-called servant?”
The maid sighed. “You’re not the first Alibek has brought to the premise. He doesn’t bring good looking men just to work as servants.”
Joonam stopped in his tracks. “What will he do to me?”
“Don’t worry about it. He’s a real sweetheart. Alibek wouldn’t even think of hurting you.” Afet reassured.
“Just watch out for the rest of the family. You only talk to the prince and me.”
“Prince?!” Joonam cried.
