I know a lot of friends who are gay or lesbian whose parent just pretend like that aspect of their life doesn't exists and have same relationship with their son and daughters just like before. Some parents eventually got used to the idea but some has continued to pretend till like their child is in their late 40s which is quite sad. Still, better than shunning or cutting off their child.
Baby steps. A few decades from now, Malaysian kids will be able to be themselves. A few decades after that, Malay mothers will weep when their sons aren't gay. "Who am I suposed to go shopping with? My friends all have fabulous wardrobes thanks to their gay sons! All you give me are grandchildren!"
