Monsters on Duty

Jan 14, 2022

"UWAHHH!"

So louuuddd!

A green Goblin who's busy scrubing a sharp slab of rock to create a small piece of rock knife keeps mumbling to himself. Irritated and distracted by the noise he can't block to his ear.

"This human ball piss me off!"

He continued scrubing the rock as his patience reached it's limits. He stood up and tossed the rock on the ground and turned around with his eyes scorching on fire. He made a big steps as he walks towards to the human baby that has been crying since morning.

A malicious intent of wanting to struggle a childs neck leaked off from his aura. With the goblins' smiling face of excitement the baby looked at him innocently. Tears in his small eyes and a snot to his cute nose.

"Hehehe... i've been struggling these days because of you human. Today i will take my revenge on you!"

The baby seems terrified when a demon-like goblin started laughing out loud with his hands ready to squish the baby. Yet, a heavy blow smashed the goblins' head.

"F*cker!?" A furious hurt goblin turned his back and ready to kill a bastard who almost sent him to the netherworld.

"Huh? Who you call a f*cker? F*cker." An intimidating bulked White goblin appeared holding a metal of bat resting to its shoulder.

"Y-yurukh!?" Jaw dropped and excitement were visible to Turukh's face.

"Brother you've returned!?" Not believing of what's in front of him he touched Yurukh as a confirmation that he is indeed alive. Breathing and Standing. All limbs intact and blood are running.

"Of course I'm alive? Why? Do you want me to die? Huh!?"

"No! Of course not! I'm hoping that you'll comeback! Since many of our family... didn't make it...to comeback."

A painful flashback made Turukh stopped a little. The days he sends his Brothers, Sisters, Friends and father outside of their premises to guard the gates and hunt down humans who keeps arriving to their world. Killing innocent monsters, taking golds and treasures. Hoarding their estates and branding them as an evil creatures.

The days of him watching everyone to depart, holding their weapons to dive in a battle that's there's no return. It made him swear to kill every humans he encounter the day of his battle to begin. The thing that he can see and touch his older brother in front of him  was actually a big deal for him that it made him cry.

"W-what are you crying? " Yurukh starts to panic since there's already two person who's crying in front of him.

After the crying sessions. Turukh finally calmed as well the baby that's now asleep.

"I told you before i live last day not to forget to change his underlayer. You even forgot to sway the child so it can sleep peacefully." Yurukh keeps nagging at Turukh who's mouth pointed and sulking.

"I-i didn't forgot. I already did what you told me but he keeps crying! I even tried to make it laugh but instead to laugh he cried nonchantly!" Yurukh burst out of laughter as Turukh told him what happened.

Holding his stomach and dying in laughter Yurukh looked at him. "It must be your face."

"Ha!!!?? I am offended!? What's wrong with this face? I'm handsome enough to make goblettes put an edsa revolution outside our house!"

Yurukh didn't stopped laughing that made the baby moved a bit. They both put their hands on their mouth. Carefully and not to wake up the sleeping baby.

"What are you laughing?" Confused Turukh asked his brother.

"N-nothing...i just think that women might actually start a rally and even put you on a pedestal."

"Hehe right."

Both of them fell into silence. The bright atmosphere were now in a serious mode of air.

"Dragons where next." Yurukh blurt out.

"Right. It must be Bakunawa this time." They didn't said anything yet their bodies are shiverring out of fear. Remembering how did they met for the first time the leader of sea dragons.

"S-should we also bring a fish?" Turukh said while sweating.

"Yes it must be a big one—fish!? Idiot!" He smacked Turukhs head because how ridiculous his brother just suggested. There's no way they can survive if they dared to make an offering to the Bakunawa. Worse, both of them are enough to devore.

Every season changes. The guard of the human baby also changed. From Goblins to Orcs, to Wolves, Elves and even to the Dragons. There is no such creature in this land who does not take care of the infant human whom they loathe the most. And this time the next guardian will be Bakunawa.

There's a multiple types of dragons in this realm. Every types has their own leader to follow. Darkness, light, land, air, fire and water. These are the main types of the first dragons. After the leaders and followers, there's a Dragon God they serve. The creator of their tribe. And every millennium, dragon types has increased their numbers that's where thunder, ghosts, skeleton dragons and more was born to the dragon family. There, Bakunawa. Dragon of water and sea holding a beauty that can tame whoever will land their eyes on her. Lured, crumbled into dust and the end of its tamed subject.

Morning came fast. Yurukh and Turukh are now standing on the sea shore. Holding Azrail who's still asleep.

Even if they are nervous they still called the Dragon of the sea.

"We've come to change shifts!" Yurukh  tried his best only to speak not too loud so they cannot anger this Dragon.

A moment of silence has landed. Only the calm noise of the sea they only can hear. They keep looking at the sea waiting for the dragon to rise from the ocean.

"B-brother...they must be still sleeping?"

"Shh! I know. I know. Let's just wait a little bit."

From a far distance of the sea. There's a loud sound under the water. A big wave of sea water splashed as the Serpent like dragon rise from the sea bottom. Dark blue scale with a tint of black gold skin made it shone out of the morning beam. It's read eyes seems piercing their soul.

"You arrived early." Her voice was enough to shaken the two Goblins looking up to her as they speak.

"We're sorry for that." Yurukh maintained his poise as he speak the upper Monster.

"I understand. I shall take the child." The Bakunawa extended her arms to get Sleeping Azrail.

She carefully took him and looked at Yurukh and Turukh before dove into the sea. The two Goblins didn't leave not until the sun finally rose up in the sky and left. In Three full moons, Azrail was guarded by a different monster tribes. And after that, he was sent back to the Goblins again and repeated the same cycle.

The years have passed. The whole Monster tribe raised Azrail. They taught him how to live within the realm. They Watched him crawl on the groud until he stepped his foot on the ground to walk. Listened to his first word. Checked the letters he wrote, and how he can survive in every trials at a very young age.

Deep inside of the forest where there's a green watchful eyes looking from a distance. Mixing in the darkest parts in the woods. A feint presence frightened the cubs of wolves.  Afraid where possibly an attack may occur. A predator ready to struggle it's pray. He has a Vantablack long hair. Short body wearing a loose shirt. It is a dirty look of a typical child who wants to survive in the battle field.

Quickly. His movements was fast. As if the wind had passed through the wolves and captured the red cloth in their territory. A smile escaped to his lips. A smile of a victory behind the exhaustion.

But his smile disappeared when he saw the reaction and stares of everyone. He stood up. Holding tight the cloth he monopolize and returned the stares he got from the kids he's against of. A Stare of a child who strive to survive.

"It's him!" A cub grited its fangs and growled angrily.

Azrail was startled when he saw the cubs ready to attack him any moment.  He hold tightener the cloth and watched the surroundings. The trial have ended. Yet here's the angry participants who wants him beaten to death.

"You should have not entered this trial with us! Dirty Human!"

"How dare you to get your hands to our tribes insignia!"

"Get out of here!"

He was a bit still shocked when he heard those hateful words again. Again and again. Every tribe he goes, there's no one who will not hurt him by words. Thus, he's relieved that no one hurt him physically. Because if that happens, there's no way he can stand with his all limbs intact as a young child.

Azrail looked down as he put down his hands from a fighting stance. The voices of the cubs keeps ringing to his ear. Yet he pretend not to hear. His eyes lost the shine as he looked at them. Indifferent. Alone and hated.

He walked and turned his back to the cubs. Didn't mind to talk back and stopped in front of the black pole. A black smoke suddenly crept up from the dark.

"Well done, Young fella. You have passed the trial of the Black Wolves." The leader of the Black Wolves spoke. It is big compared to others and even his fur are darker. His eyes are red like a blazing fire and it lights when the moon shines.

"Thank you for your guidance Lupe." A four year old Azrail handed the red cloth to Lupe. There are visible scratches from his tiny hands. His Clothes are dirty due to the overnight observation to the wolves territory. Fighting ambush alone, and attacking the main camp of the enemy.

"Tch! Bastard." The Wolf who was ready to bite him earlier with his pack blurt out his hatred. On the other hand Azrail only followed them with stares. Unable to speak thinking not to make things worse. Lupe saw how the another wolves reacted to how Azrail passed the test.

Lupe gathered all of the participants and made a short remarks.

"I congratulate everyone who passed the trial of the black Wolves. To those who are defeated, do not give up until a favorable outcome sees. If you failed once, there's no way you'll lose for the another round. Learn your lesson from today's trial. Do not forget what and where you lacks and study your tactics for a better plan. Black Wolves do not forget the darkness is your shelter. Thus, light is your wisdom for a greater victory. The Light may guide you from today until the day you perish on this land. This trial May be a lesson for everyone of us."

After the closing remarks. The cubs have returned to their barracks and homes. Those who failed the trial will enter again after two days. Lupe Called Azrail who's about to leave.

"Follow me, Young Fella."

"To where?"

Lupe shut his mouth for a moment.

"To where you should be."

In another part of the monster realm. There is a meeting going on between the monster leaders. Inside of the Inner hall. Their Circle was on a serious conversation.

"How's the child." Aelfric. The Elf ruler. The one who asked first their King about Azrails' existance in the realm. He has Gold hair and eyes like blue crystal. A skin white as a snow and elegantly dressed.

"He's doing well every single day." Jareth. The ruler of all Goblins under the Command of his late father to succed the post. He seems look like a kid but he's already living for decades.

"He is just a kid." Anakin spoke and lay down a piece of blue cloth with the insignia of their tribe. The Giant tribe.

"But with his weak and small human body. He accomplished my test in just one week." The frown in his brows didn't subsides and looked the anothers puting their insignia on the long table.

"He...captured every each one of the insignia within rage of three weeks to one day." Gollik the Orc leader was in confusion. Seems looking back at the night when Azrail came out alive at the dungeon holding a Green cloth.

The leaders fell into silence.  Then one of the doors opened. Lupe arrived with the red cloth. Carrying in his mouth and put it down along the other flags.

Worried. Everyone looked at Halos. The first creation of their creator, his majesty the king. The Dragon who can annhilate everything he's spotted in just a one puff of his breath.

"Then...the only Trial left was yours. The dragons seven trials." Aelfric.

The dragon did not speak. The rulers in this room was looking at him with high possibility for the child not to succeed in this last trial. Afraid that if the human holds the fire of the dragon cup, their world maybe save or destroyed by the hands of the child they take in and rise.

The Dragon opened his eyes then left a word that the future will holds.

"A seed you plant, the fruit you'll sow. Whatever will come, we strive it to have."
