Everyone on the deck had watched in amazement of the fact that the shadowy figure had cut the creature's tentacle off with ease. 

Mysterious boy A: "Show off!"

Ryan: (I don't believe it! That kid, no both the boy with the revolver and the one who just chopped off that tentacle just now, my brother brought those two kids for cheap to guard us but I had no idea they were this!)

 [Flashback] 

Ryan: "Excellent the crew is finally put together and are ready to go sailing off to Glarera’s Rock and--!" 

Charles: "Hold it brother, where we're going, we're going to need way more help than this!" 

Ryan: "Hmm? What are you talking about, you babbling fool? Can't you see we have more than enough hands on deck? We have a bloody militia at our disposal!" 

Charles: "That maybe true but you and I both know where we're going might not be enough for a single militia." 

Ryan: "What are you talking about? Do you not know how much money I put into this?!"

Charles: "It's nothing compared to what we're after Ryan, you know this won't be easy!" 

Ryan: "Hmm? What are you proposing we do then, Charles?" 

Charles: "I say we bring along tighter gloves." 

Ryan: "What?! Wait, you're not proposing we ask them for help now do you?!" 

Charles: "I do." 

Ryan: "You really are the dumber one out of the two of us, brother." 

Charles: “Ryan I’m serious!” 

Ryan: “And so am I! Do you really think I would get on my hands and knees and ask for the help of those selfish, greedy and useless bastard guards who, by the way are responsible for our father’s demises!”

Charles: “Ryan what happened wasn’t--!” 

Ryan: “It doesn’t matter! There’s no way I'll ask for their help. I've got enough men as it is!” 

Charles: “But brother, you already know the tale of Glarera’s rock, how dangerous it is! Are you really going to let your pride and grudge put our safety at risk?! Think about Julia and Luna, your wife and daughter!”

Ryan: “Tch! And what makes you so sure asking them for help will make our chances any better?” 

Charles: “It will I believe it, even if we don’t get the treasure, at least we made it back with our lives.” 

Ryan: “Hmph! Fine, be a fool and do what our father did, see if I care! But know this Charles, I will get that treasure no matter what and I won’t let anyone get in my way!”

Charles: “[Sigh]...” (Ryan.) 

A week later and 2 days before the departure, Ryan and his brother, along with his wife and daughter, were at the port of Meldic viewing the setting up of the voyage Ryan and his brother would soon set out on. 

Ryan: (Hehe, in 2 days we’ll be heading out on our voyage! With a small army at our side! Where more than ready for anything it throws at us now.) "Soon I'll be setting out you two."

Julia: “...” 

Ryan's wife and daughter remained silent. 

Ryan: "[Sigh] why so glum, you two?" 

Julia: "Ryan I…" 

Charles then appeared, placing his hand on Ryan's shoulder and whispered to him.

Charles: “Brother let me introduce you to the two new recruits that will be joining our militia.” 

Ryan: “What?” (Oh right them.) “Fine, Julia, how about you and Luna go find somewhere to relax? I need to discuss something with Charles.” 

Julia: “Luna let’s go and sit by the restaurant.”

Luna: “Ok." 

As the two left, Charles introduced Ryan to the special guards that he hired. 

Ryan: "Charles this is them?!” 

Charles: “Indeed.” 

Ryan: “These are the two big recruits you hired to have aboard our ship?! Two children?!" 

Charles: "Yes brother I was told by an old acquaintance that these two young men were extremely highly skilled and at a low cost." 

Ryan: "Are you ****ing kidding me?!!! You made a tremendous fuss over two bloody children?! I'm done talking to you, Charles! You really are an idiot!” 

Charles: “Ryan wait!” 

Ryan: “Hmph!” 

Charles: (Honestly.) "[Sigh] I'm very sorry about him, you two please try to understand." 

Mysterious boy A: "It's no problem, we just want our pay. Crusaded Defenders Nowell and Lay are on the job!" 

Charles: "Thank you." 

Meanwhile, back with Ryan Maxdell. 

Ryan: (Dammit Charles, bringing along Crusaded Defenders and children on top of that! I'll never put my faith in them!) 

[Present time] 

Ryan: "C--Crusaded Defenders…?" 

Nowell: "Hey Lay above you!" 

Lay dodged the tentacle and dashed forward, but another tentacle rushed in his direction. 

Ryan: "He's going to be crushed!" 

Nowell put on a smile while Lay did a spiral slash, cutting the tentacle in front of him and in back with high-speed precision and movement chopping the tentacle opponents to pieces.

Lay: (Spinning Crazer)

Ryan: "He's unbelievable! And the tentacles aren't regenerating!" 

Nowell: "Lay's blade is as sharp as ever." 

Ryan: "I've never seen someone move so fast and deadly with a blade!" 

Nowell: "He can get crazier than that, I better offer my assistant on top of it." 

Ryan: (So these are Crusaded Defenders and kids no less! I heard about people like them, special individuals that passed the Grand Security International Test and gained their Grand licence, that test is the most difficult and Excruciating test around with the rate of successfully passing it being 4%, it’s unknown how these people succeed where hundreds of thousands fail, most people just say their inhuman which is why not many take the test to begin with, but never would have even imagined people like them would be this powerful! Then again, I paid little attention to them at all growing up.) 

Ryan then had flashback glimpses of his father, remembering why he set out on the journey to begin with.

Ryan: "Dammit then, why didn't they save him?" 

Meanwhile, Lay and Nowell were fending off against the tentacles. Nowell shot at 3, each holding a mercenary and releasing them. 

Soldier 16: "Thanks, kid!" 

Nowell: "No problem!" 

Meanwhile Lay sliced 4 tentacles ahead of him.

Lay: "..." 

Nowell: (Grrr! So it's a competition for you huh?!) 

Soldier 15: "Everyone look!" 

Suddenly the creature revealed its head to the entire crew. 

Soldier 20: "A shell for a head." 

Soldier 8: "I--it's the Krakus!" 

Soldier 10: "No, it can't be!" 

Soldier 9: "Jeez, that thing is even uglier than I thought." 

Lay: "..." 

Ryan: "No wonder our rockets barely had effect, the Krakus is a legendary creature known for being unstoppable and having a very hardened body especially around the head thanks to that shell!" 

Nowell: "Well its nothing Lay can't handle." 

Ryan: "Fool his blade stands no chance!" 

Nowell: "Relax pops, haven't you seen that Lay's no ordinary guard?" 

Ryan: (How can this boy be so sure?) 

Meanwhile, the Krakus raised 10 of its remaining tentacles up at once above the ship. 

Ryan: "That beast is planning to sink the ship, stop it everyone at once!" 

Nowell: "No leave this to Lay!" 

Ryan: "What?!" 

Nowell: "Just trust us, old man!" 

Ryan: "Why should I, you Crusaded Defenders are the reason my father--!" 

Charles: "Everyone ceasefire!" 

Ryan: "Charles!" 

Nowell: "Lay do the rest!" 

Lay closed his eyes and paused for a moment, concentrating while the deadly squid slammed its tentacles towards the ship, then in a split second Lay cut all the tentacles and the Krakus's shell in one strike.

Lay: (Crazer's touch!) 

Everyone: [!!!!] 

Soldier 7: "Unbelievable…" 

Nowell: (You can say that again.)  

The creature fell and sank deep into the sea while the men shouted and celebrated the Squid's defeat. 

Lay: "[Deep breath]..." 

Lay returned his blade into the sheath. 

Soldier 8: "Hey kid, you're amazing!!" 

Soldier 12: "Yeah, you actually went toe to toe with a creature as legendary as the Krakus and won!" 

Soldier 16: "What's your secret? How are you so strong? Can you teach me?" 

Lay: "..." 

Nowell: "Alright guys shows over we don't do encores or autographs so how about you guys give my partner a breather." 

Soldier 8: "Huh?" 

Soldier 15: "He's right, let's see if there’s anyone around that needs some help so that we can get back to work, guys." 

As the men walked away, Charles, and Luna approached the two. 

Luna: "You both! that was amazing!" 

Nowell: "It's what we do, no biggie." 

Charles: "Are you serious? You both are so strong, especially for children!" 

Nowell: "Hey pops we're 16!" 

Charles: "Sorry my mistake." 

Meanwhile, Luna thought. 

Luna: (That boy with the blonde spiky hair and revolver was the one who pulled me away from my sightseeing, I had no idea he was so powerful, and the one next to him, the shorter boy with the all black clothing and long black hair is unbelievable, just who are these two?) 

Ryan: "You two, come with me." 

Charles: "Brother?" 

Nowell: "Hmm?" 

Ryan: "I want to let you both in on something, and as for you Luna!" 

Luna: "I know I know." 

Luna headed back inside the lower deck.

Ryan: "Are you two coming?"

Nowell: "Sure come on Lay." 

Lay: "..." 

Later in Maxdell's cabin. 

Ryan: (Now to get down to business.) "You two, what are your names?"
