Tonight was a full moon and Moon was on her way to go meet up with her mate Storm. The purple molly creeped along the yards until she stopped at a yard filled with daisies. This is it, Moon thought, this is Storm’s place.
“Storm, I’m here,” Moon meowed. She came up closer to the house and started scratching at the door until a gray head popped out.
The gray tom’s purple eyes sparkled. “You came!” he mewed happily. He crawled the rest of the way out of the cat door.
Moon smiled. “I need to tell you something,” she told Storm sternly, although there was excitement in her voice, “I had a dream and this really old cat asked me if I wanted to remake Moon Family.”
“Really?” Storm exclaimed. “Moon Family has been gone for years!”
“I know it sounds crazy, but I really want to do it,” Moon urged. “Do you want to help or not?” She didn’t want to sound irritated, but Storm looked a bit doubtful about all this.
Storm winked at her. “Of course I’ll help! But can we start in the morning?” He yawned before giving Moon a pleading face.
Moon sighed but gave her mate a smile. “Sure, but I’m going to see if Lion wants to join in.” Lion was an orange molly with blue eyes, a lion’s tail, and black markings on her forehead; she’s been besties with Moon since they were kits.
Thankfully, Lion’s house was right beside Moon’s and had strange looking vines covering the porch making the purple molly cringe every time she saw it. Hopping unto the fence, Moon spotted Lion in the yard with a small blue kit on the back of her head.
“Who’s the kitten, Lion?” asked Moon. “Is it yours?”
Before Lion answered, the blue kit hopped off Lion’s head to glare at Moon. “Lion’s not my mom!” she hissed. “I was born on the streets, dirt face!”
“Blue!” Lion shrieked, flicking Blue on the ear. “That’s not how you talk to guests.” She apologized to Moon for Blue’s outburst.
Moon giggled. “That’s fine, Lion, I was actually here to ask you a question…”
“Oh really?” Lion mewed her ears twitched to hear what Moon was going to say.
“Do you want to help Storm and I remake Moon Family?” Moon asked.
Lion blinked a couple times before replying, “Sure, I’ll bring Blue along with us tomorrow then.” She picked Blue up by the scruff and headed inside her house to get a good night’s rest.
Happy, Moon headed off to get some rest for tomorrow as well.
* * *
When the sun started rising, Moon got up and stretched before heading downstairs. The humans who took care of her were busy getting ready for work and school, so it gave Moon the chance to sneak outside.
A cold gust of wind smacked right into Moon’s face when she came outside. Summer was coming to an end, which upsets Moon as she liked the summer, but she shook the thought away as she pounced into Lion’s yard.
Blue squeaked with surprise. “Where did you come from?” Her fur fluffed up from being frightened.
Moon ignored the kit and turned to Lion who was licking the tip of her tail. “Ready to go? Storm’s waiting for us at the corner of the neighborhood.” Her friend nodded, hopping to four paws.
The three mollies padded along the sidewalk and soon angry growls came from the corner of the neighborhood. “What was that?” Blue asked shivering. When she saw a gray tom back out, she shrieked, “Storm!”
Another tom, who was a shade darker than Storm, slashed at his face causing blood to splatter on the sidewalk. Not wanting to see more, Moon dashed to head butt the darker gray tom.
Turning to Storm, she mewed, “Are you okay?”
Storm rubbed his cheek and chuckled, “Yeah, just a small scratch from that dumb tom.” He shot a glare at the gray tom who Moon could see was missing his right eye.
“Who are you?” Lion asked keeping Blue back with her tail so she wouldn’t get close to the rogue.
“Name’s Lost, heard from your idiotic mate that you were rebuilding Moon Family.” His nose twitched.
“Th-that’s right,” Moon stuttered not sure if she wants this rogue to know anything about her plans.
Lost gave a slight chuckle before staring at Moon, sending chills down her spine. "I would like to join...if only I can be Councilor of the Family."
A shocked gasp came from Lion and Moon heard Storm pawing at the ground. The purple molly wanted Storm to be Councilor but if she wanted more members, she would have to throw that dream away. Unless Lost dies early that is...
"Sure, you can be Councilor," Moon answered giving Storm an apologetic look.
"Great, now I can return the favor by giving a pack full of members to start out with," Lost chirped bouncing off toward a pipe that was across the street.
All four cats stood dumbfounded for a moment before slowly catching up to Lost who stood excitedly at the pipe. When he saw the four cats, he beckoned them with his tail to follow him into the pipe.
Blue stuck her tongue out in disgust as she stepped into the pipe. "Eww, gross!"
"Ah, house pets," Lost began, "they'll never know the beauty in things like this."
"Are you making fun of us?" Moon asked annoyed.
Lost didn't answer as he hopped out of the pipe into a large area that was filled with boxes as well, as cats who were all chatting with each other. Moon's blue eyes widened at the sight of this.
"This is awesome!" Blue squeaked hopping on Lion's back. Her adopted mother smiled at her.
Chuckling, Lost hopped onto the biggest box and greeted everyone to each other. The gray tom nodded to Moon to announce all their new names.
The purple molly climbed onto the box beside Lost and cleared her throat. "Everyone, I will be known as Commander Moon, Lost will be Councilor known as Lostleap, our Doctor will be Riverbird, our Guardians with the Brother title will be Stormwing, Littletail, Hawkheart, Michaeltail, and Foxwing. Our guardians of the Sister title will be Puppylove and Peachclaw, ones with the Mother title and their kittens are Lionpool and her adopted daughter Blue and Dovetail and her son Feather. The Trainees who are training for their title are Trainee Tiger and Trainee Ice, and we have no cats who are retired with the Grandma or Grandpa title."
After the ceremony, Commander Moon felt a surge go through her and a voice whisper, "We have granted you nine lives, use them wisely as you lose power as you lose lives."

The new Moon Family settled in a spot where pine trees surrounded the camp showing the moon shining down on them. As Commander Moon was fixing up a mud den for her to live in, a cry from Blue jerked her concentration away.
"Commander Moon, Commander Moon," came the urgent cry of Blue. "Lionpool's having kits!"
What? When was the orange molly ever-expecting kits and who was the father? Commander Moon jumped down to follow Blue into the vine-covered nursery that was being finished by Hawkheart and Trainee Tiger.
Squeezing in, Commander Moon found Foxwing beside her friend and Lostleap who was beaming. Peering down at Lionpool, the purple molly saw an orange molly with white paws like Foxwing and black markings like Lionpool while the other kit was a red tom.
"When did you and Foxwing get together?" Commander Moon asked shocked her best friend never told her these things.
"We've been meeting in secret," Foxwing confessed smiling nervously at the Commander.
All of this was confusing to Commander Moon, so she changed the topic. "What are the names of your kittens?"
"This is Lily," Lionpool pointed at the orange kit.
"And this is Sean," Foxwing pointed at the red kit.
While the adults were talking, Feather poked Blue. "What?" The blue kit asked.
"I want to be the Doctor's Trainee!" The gray and black tom announced excitedly.
"Eww!" Blue hissed looking away.
"Mom, Blue's being mean!"
A sigh came from Dovetail. "Blue, please stop being mean to my son." Commander Moon and the others giggled.
A white molly with pink eyes and wearing a black collar popped her head inside. "Commander, it's almost time for the Monthly Meeting!"
Commander Moon jumped up and raced out the nursery with her Councilor following. Blue hopped on after them. "Can I come?"
"You're just a kitten," Hawkheart pointed out.
"Once you're old enough to take the test in being a Trainee than yes," Commander Moon explained to the young blue kit.
Blue scowled. "But that's 2,000 months away!" Her shoulders hunched and Hawkheart lifted her chin up with his tail.
"You're not the only one; Feather, Lily, and Sean has to wait as well," he reminded her as she stomped back into the nursery.
As the brown tom backed away, his mate Puppylove who was standing beside Commander Moon purred. "I can't wait to have kits of our own." The two mollies giggled.
"We should get going before you guys get caught up in 'kitten talk,'" Councilor Lostleap purred to the three cats.

The group of Moon Family cats stood at the log bridge that led to a huge island filled with other Families that came for the Monthly Meeting. Everyone was amazed that the island could hold this many individuals at one time. As the group made their way down to the island, a short gray tom with black paws blocked them.
"Who are you?" snarled the gray tom.
"I'm Commander Moon of the newly reincarnated Moon Family," Commander Moon meowed.
Another cat teleported beside the gray tom. "Moon Family has been dead for six years." The blue-gray tom held his paw close to a snake necklace.
"Maybe we should see if Shining Skies agrees with this so-called Commander Moon," the Councilor of Misty Family snarled.
Nothing happened and the blue-gray tom nudged the gray tom. "Commander Gray, we should really attack them." He bared his teeth.
Commander Gray hesitated before glaring at Commander Moon. "Leave and come back next month if you really are a reincarnation of Moon Family."
All the Moon Family group groaned and turned around to head on back home. An owl call was heard nearby as the cats got closer to camp. It was then Lostleap stopped in his tracks when he heard a sound.
Commander Moon stopped as well to look back at him. "What's up?" Before her Councilor replied, a voice spoke.
"Don't hurt us..."
Confused Commander Moon replied, "We're not going to hurt you, we're just making our way back home from a meeting."
No reply came and the nearest bush trembled when a head of a purple striped zebra popped up. She examined the group carefully before whispering something in the bushes. Two more heads popped up and were lions. All three smiled at the cats.
"My name's Kasi," said the purple striped zebra, "and these are my friends Maxfire and Brightpool."
"Do you want to join?" Commander Moon asked. Maxfire and Brightpool nodded but Kasi shook her head.
"I don't want to join until I find my husband and daughter," the purple striped zebra dipped her head at Commander Moon who had a solemn look.
Maxfire and Brightpool waved goodbye to their zebra friend as she trotted away. Commander Moon sighed and headed on back to camp with her group. As they got back, Peachclaw welcomed them and lead the two new members on to the guardians' cave.
I hope Kasi doesn't get hurt while trying to find her family, Commander Moon thought while heading over to her own cave.

Commander Moon and her mate Stormwing were taking a morning walk while the morning gathering patrol was out. While walking, Commander Moon stepped on a net that carried her up and trapped her.
"What the?!" Commander Moon screeched in surprise. "Stormwing, help!"
Her mate circled around the net before leaping in the air to slice an opening in the net causing Commander Moon to fall right onto her stomach. "Whoever put that net up will feel sorry," Stormwing growled.
"Aww man, I thought your claws were cut," a whiny voice cried. A dark green reptile hopped out of the bush and picked parts of the shredded net up.
"We're not house cats anymore and who are you?" Commander Moon retorted.
"I'm Jeremiah Jr., the proud son of King Jeremiah," said the child proudly.
Both Commander Moon and Stormwing looked dumbfounded as the two didn't know who King Jeremiah was. Jeremiah Jr noticed their looks and rolled his eyes. "He's the huge reptile that Eddie and his dumb brother keep defeating."
"Oh, that guy," Commander Moon meowed sarcastically.
"I'm going home and telling my Papa about this," Jeremiah Jr informed them. "So don't go and forget my face or my name."
"I'm sure we won't," Stormwing reassured him.
If what that kid says is true, we're going to need to be careful..., Commander Moon thought as her and Stormwing continued their walk.

As the sun started to set, Commander Moon decided to go to bed early so she would be ready for tomorrow. Once asleep, the purple molly found herself in a meadow filled with flowers and wondered where she was at.
"Welcome to the Dreamworld, young one," a spirit voice called to Commander Moon.
"Dreamworld? Is that where the dead cats go?" Commander Moon asked.
The old gray-brown tom chuckled. "No, no, we spirits can roam around the world as we please, but we come to the Dreamworld to visit dreams."
"Oh," Commander Moon meowed. "Why are you here then?"
"Moon Family needs to seek help from more than just cats," the tom started. "A villainous leader from afar has sent one of his minions here to destroy the Families."
"Seek help? As in more members?" Commander Moon asked, confused.
"Not all will become a member," the old tom stated. "But all help is needed or else everyone is in danger."
Commander Moon felt herself trembling a little. "I'll do all that I can, sir."
The tom smiled. "Good luck..."
