(No One's Pov)
Angel walked through the door into the casino and over to the bar where Nile was "Hey, what's the purple dragon doing here?" "Ha ha, funny... tell me when the eygptians have their river back" Angel hissed back as Death rushed out the door leading to the employee rooms, behind the bar whilst putting his jacket on. "Why the fuck did someone let me sleep in?!" Death tired snapped, panic in his voice "Death-" "I was just woken up with a call from Aristomache asking me where I was- I was suppose to be at the palace right now" Death interrupted Angel, clearly panicking a bit "I'll get Gamer to Isledale, you go ahead" Angel told the panicking ripper. "Thank you- I owe you" Death told her before running out the front door of the casino just as Gamer walked out into the casino with a raised brow "What's with him?" he questioned, walking out from behind the bar "Early guard shift at the palace whilst there is an overlord family visit, what else?" Angel answered, rolling her eyes. "Ready to head over to Isledale?" the reaper asked "Sure, let's go" Gamer answered, giving the others a small wave before walking out the front door with Angel.
The two walked in silence... silence that seemed to slowly eat at Gamer. "So... there's an overlord family at the palace?" ...yeah, small talk ended up being his only known way to get rid of the awkward silence "Yes, they're from the Threat Region" Angel answered, still looking ahead as they continued to walk. "The Threat Region?" "You know, the most dangerous part of the first ring of Hell?" Angel glanced at Gamer, her brows frowned "You never heard of it?" "Only of the Eclipse and Reaper regions, and that wasn't that long ago" Gamer told Angel as she bit her lip "...promise you'd never go to the Threat Region, especially alone" she harshly asked, making Gamer just more curious about it. "... I promise" the fallen assured the reaper as they found the tunnel Akire had showed them as a quick short cut in and out of Isledale, soon walking into the tunnel. "So, how do you know that the Threat Region is that bad?" Gamer quietly questioned "Death told me the day I woke up, warned me to never go there either" Angel shortly answered Gamer as they continued to walk "So Death's been there?" "He's a demon under the Threat Wing Rule, of course he has" Angel said, answering as if it was that obvious and Gamer should've easily added the two together. "Why... why is it the most dangerous region?" Gamer asked another question "Most of the bad shit that's ever happened in Hell, happened on that region's soil" Angel answered through her teeth, slowly getting annoyed by the questions. "So-" "For a fucking angel, you've got a lot of fucking questions" Angel found herself snapping at Gamer, yet Gamer did not flinch whatsoever "Sorry, it's a bad habit of mine... I've such horrible curiosity, it annoys everyone" Gamer laughed a bit, catching Angel off guard. "What do you mean by that?" she found herself asking the fallen "The sisters of the Light Temple, guard angels.... they always thought I was weird since my questions were guided by curiosity of the 'wrong things', and Michael... he hated my curiosity and found it extremely annoying" Gamer answered.
"Michael? the archangel?" "Yep, the one and only" Gamer confirmed to Angel "He hated how my mind wandered too often, especially if he was talking to me... and even though I was that annoying and he hated me so much... he still considered himself as my 'brother'" Gamer told Angel, and Angel felt a little bad for him. "Well... I think 'wandering minds' and curiosity makes a person more interesting" Angel told Gamer, smiling a bit and surely her words made him immediately smile back as they walked out of the other end of the tunnel, right into a crowded street in Isledale. The two soon made it to the Nerium Mirror, Witchdoctor shoppe, finding Akire in the back writing out a list "Hey guys" "Akire greeted them as she ripped out the list from the small notebook she was writing in "Hey, I have to head back over to the palace so I'll see you later" Angel said "Right, see you then" Akire smiled as Angel walked out of the room and soon after, the shop door, leaving Gamer alone with Akire. "Okay... so where abouts in Isledale are we going?" Gamer asked "Oh no, we're going to the tunnels" Akire corrected him as she grabbed her signature homemade bag, Gamr raised a brow "The what?".
(Death's Pov)
I rushed over to Rochelle and Aristomache, out of breath "You're late-" "Just be glad I'm here now instead of later" Death quietly told Rochelle, quickly straightening himself up before a guard walked through the front door with three people. The tallest was a man with pale brown eyes, warm ivory skin and black hair. The second was a woman with silver eyes, sunkissed pale skin and beautiful dark brown hair reaching down to her hips. Both obviously dressed nicely. "Lord Tyson Bloodworth, Mistress Hera Bloodworth... and I assume this is your son and heir, Ares Bloodworth" "Indeed" Tyson confirmed Aristomache's thoughts as I looked at Tyson's son, Ares. There was not much to exactly say about Ares or his appearance other than that he was very nicely dressed and he wore a cloak with a hood that covered most of his face yet he kept his head low enough so the hood could hide his entire face.
When overlord heirs are outside their house, they have to keep their faces covered at all times... it is believed by many that doing this would keep the overlord heir 'pure' enough until they officially become actual overlords, obviously I believe that this is just a shit excuse to cover up the fact that the overlords want to hide their kids' faces to keep them from being killed or assassinated. Overlords only want their stupid 'pure breed' bloodlines to live on, that's why I think the reason for hiding faces is shit yet Tyson's family however, although being ripper demons, care deeply about each other and Tyson isn't afraid to admit shit and known to stand his firm ground. Anyway, only people who can see the overlord heir's face is their family, the royal family and the Black Councilors.
I could tell though, there was something a little... off about Ares. First of all is his scent, sort of like his father's but different, there was no exact way to pin it either and most of the time, I can easily pick up any scent and know exactly who it belongs to... I can easily read any demon or devil yet Ares... I just had a bad feeling about him and it never left. "You already know the Black Councilor of the Threat Wing, Rochelle Burns" Aristomache stated, gesturing to Rochelle as the councilor bowed her head a bit to the family "And this is Death" Aristomache told them as she gestured to me. Rochelle swiftly summoned her sword and hit me in the back with the hilt of her sword, I immediately arched over with a grunt of pain, pretending that it was meant as a bow of respect. "Forgive me my lord, my lack of sleep had aided my lost of respect-" "Forgiven already my dear boy, now stand up straight" Tyson laughed as I straightened up, Tyson's wife, Hera, looked me up and down "Young looking ripper demon, aren't you? you look as if you're eighteen" "Forty-one actually, I 'aged' a little bit during my first year down here" I corrected her, seeming to sort of impress the two of them. "My queen, would you mind if I borrowed Death for a bit?" Tyson asked Aristomache as my gut turned... sometimes with overlords, that isn't a good thing to hear come out of their mouth, especially if they're talking about you. "Of course, I wish to show your wife and son something in the Eclipse Wing anyway" Aristomache smiled, and a few seconds later... I found myself walking through the Threat Wing of the palace with Tyson and him alone. "You're the one who protects that new fallen, aren't you?" "Yes sir-" "That's quite impressive" he told me "You'd have to have the complete trust of the royal family to be given such a role" he stated "Well I wouldn't say that, only Satan trusted me at the time" I told him, earning a laugh from Tyson. "You know... you could be an overlord" I froze at Tyson's words "Sorry... what?" "You heard me quite clear, Death" Tyson said "You're strong enough to be one and to me, worthy enough to marry one" he told me as I looked at him in disbelief.
"That's impossible- torturers and sinners aren't allowed to be with higher ups-" "Yes... but if multiple overlords agree one is worthy enough, they'll allow them to be married into the family or... help that person become a new overlord" Tyson explained "Death, you are something a lot of overlords in the past have envied and wished to become... and you were lucky that you're naturally like this" he told me. "You've experience absolute hell unlike the others, you've built your strength and heart" Tyson continued "I don't get it- are you offering to make me an overlord or-" "Kind of... but I can already tell your answer is 'no'" well, he's right about one thing. "Sorry to disappoint-" "No need, I understand perfectly. You have friends you consider your own family, you have a home and you already have your purpose... protecting who I hear is your best friend" "...yeah". We turned down another corridor "You ever thought of trying to find 'love', Death?" Tyson asked "No, failed too many times already, not opening myself up to that crap again" I answered "Plus 'love' got me killed and dragged down here in the first place" "Your past life is just filled with death, isn't it?" Tyson questioned, turning his head to me as I nodded my head. "Many overlords are betrothing their heirs and children- I was lucky enough that my own father let me go out and experience the real thing" Tyson told me, looking straight ahead "I'm allowing my son the same, letting him break a rule of two to find his own person" Tyson added before turning his head back to me. "If you let me, I could put word out about you to the other overlords... you'd be a great consort" I nearly choked on my own air after hearing Tyson's words "What?" "You've been trained by the royal family and you're close to them, experience as a palace guard, good business man, experienced absolute hell, strong, protective, plus you've got good looks I'll give you that" Tyson listed. "And-" "I'm sorry my lord, but... I'm not looking to be betrothed or be be anyone's 'husband' and probably not in the near future either" I told Tyson "Fair enough" that's all he said before changing the topic to something else.
(Gamer's Pov)
Akire had lead me down a couple of streets to a brick wall, pushing a brick further into the wall before a trap door in the ground opened up, revealing a staircase down "After you" she said, I hesitantly walked down the stairs with Akire following after me, closing the trap door behind us as old rusted flame-lit lanterns dimly lit up the corridor in front of us. The corridor was lined with bones and skulls of dead demons and devils, likely those from thousands of years ago who use to be Isledale's citizens. "Death said you needed help getting ingredients for some sort of medicine-" "Yep" Akire confirmed what Death told me a week ago yet I was still confused "Then why are we in the catacombs-" "We're going to the Valhallan tunnels... which we're kinda in right now" Akire told me as I raised a brow "What?". Akire rolled her eyes "The Valhallan tunnels? the second ring of Hell?" she could tell I was still very confused "People need to teach you basic Hell geography" she muttered as we walked out of the end of the corridor into a large underground city. "Holy crap..." I said under my breath as I looked around "Never think an angel would look at this place in such wonder" Akire smirked as I laughed a bit "I'm not an ordinary 'angel'..." I told Akire before following her down a market-store-filled street.
An Hour and a Half Later
We've gotten most of the things on Akire's list and were now just walking through the streets of markets, looking at different things being sold such as jewellery, charms, books, nic knacs, protection talisman, food stalls... one of those food stalls selling suspicious 'rare' meat, spices and herbs, and a lot more. Akire even stopped at one food stall and bought two small paper bags filled with what normal people would think is chicken nuggets yet each one were bite-sized and tiny spheres, and the crumbing on it was redish-brown "Trust me... try one" Akire told me, handing me one of the paper bags. I grabbed one out of the bag, it was warm as if it was just cooked. I hesitantly put it in my mouth and... it tasted normal, a little sweet but absolutely fine. "Tastes like chicken, right?" "Yeah..." I answered as Akire smirked "Hell-pig from the greed ring" she told me and I nearly choked "Seriously-" "Yep, and like a lot of animals in Hell, they tend to become quite an 'overpopulation' group of themselves" Akire explained, eating one of the bite-sized bits from her own paper bag. "Tastes good tho, and has a lot of iron" Akire smiled... well she's not wrong about it tasting good, and it's only pig, not like it's person which is what I feared at first. After finishing the food, we continued to walk until we ran into this guy with light brown and grey hair and ivory skin... who apparently Akire knew. "Miss Akire Shards" the hug gave Akire a small hug, smiling and Akire smiled back "Trenton Clemens! Long time no see, how's the nic-n-knacs business these days?" Akire asked "Shop's been a bit slow lately, but I think I've just found my newest best seller" he grinned proudly. "Awesome, may I...?" "Of course!" he pulled out a necklace to show Akire "A amethyst and two small diamonds pendant hung from a pure gold chain necklace" he stated, holding it up as it glistened in the light "It's so beautiful" Akire said in amazement as she looked at it. Trenton then looked at me, wonder and greed shining through his eyes "Excuse my manners, I'm Trenton Clemens and you are?" "His name is Gamer Shadow, he's my friend from Sreeburn" Akire told Trenton "He's a shadow walker" she added as Trenton continued to stare "Is he now...?" he said under his breath.
