This is the intro to the RPG book, which I feel is a decent introduction to a homebrew setting with a book of a backstory.
Fragged Empire is an rpg game that takes place thousands of years into the future, where humanity has long died off, but it’s genetically engineered descendants live on. Technology and science might have progressed to unimaginable feats, but the ever common problems of resource distribution, power lust, greed, and grudges thrive even amongst descendants who need each other to survive. A massive war between humanity’s descendants has left a galactic empire in shambles, with some societies reeling from the after effects of ravaging armies to the point of nearly total loss of space travel technology. Only recently within the past century, have the surviving civilizations begun the painstaking process of rebuilding and looking back up to the stars and a tentatively optimistic future. The ashes of a galactic empire are grounds for a new beginning, a break from a gilded past and on towards a brighter future, provided they are able to break free from the cycle their ancestors have set in motion down to the core of their DNA
“It is over 10,000 years into the future. Humanity is dead, You are one of many genetically engineered descendants. A catastrophic war has ravaged the known galaxy. After 100 years, your people have just re-entered space. Four surviving peoples have banded together. Each is struggling for survival in the ashes of their creator’s long-dead empire”
