Asher chased his wolf. After he started running, Asher noticed that he was running. He ran faster to catch up with the wolf.

The wolf looked back, shocked to see him near him. He would have never expected a human to run this fast. He smiled at his wolf’s expression.

His wolf speeded up, and he speeded up, too. When the wolf learned that Asher nearly caught him, he jumped on the log after log and climbed a tree. He looked down at him from a branch. His look said he was smiling.

Asher could exactly climb a tree like that. But he faked his defeat. He stopped running and mimicked his wolf’s growl.

“Not funny. Not fair.” Asher lifted his brow.

The wolf jumped from the tree and stood a foot away from him. The dust must have irritated him. He moved back. His eyes narrowed at Asher. He huffed and walked away. Asher followed him, smirking.

“You are the cutest wolf I ever met,” Asher muttered.

The wolf looked back at him angrily and continued to walk.

“I am planning on keeping you as my pet,” Asher said wholeheartedly.

But the wolf stumbled from his announcement. He somehow managed to save his grace from falling. Asher laughed hard. It’s been so long since he laughed this hard. They walked side by side in silence.

They reached the river in a few minutes. Asher didn’t remove his dress. He jumped into the river and drowned himself.

He drifted peacefully. He held his breath and dived deeper. He swirled and swam inside the river. But a commotion on the riverside caught his attention. He came up gasping for air. He looked at the wolf who was running here and there howling.

“Hey,” Asher yelled at the top of his lungs.

The wolf looked where he dived. Then it searched for him.

When the wolf caught his sight, he slowly calmed himself. Asher couldn’t understand what happened. But the look in his wolf’s eye told him that he was frightened.

He looked at Asher with his soul-sucking eyes. Asher washed hastily and swam to his wolf. Once he reached the land, he looked around cautiously. He wondered what would have triggered his wolf.

“Are you all right? What happened? Why do you get panicked all of a sudden? Huh?” Asher slowly walked towards his wolf, but his ears listened everywhere.

Even though he didn’t catch anyone and the wolf was calm, he refused to let his alertness down.

The wolf jumped on top of him when he got next to him and started licking his face. Asher rubbed his ears and lifted his brow.

No one was around. Sure. But it's not safe to wander alone in a forest. He looked back at the water.

It looked so tempting. But he had Chris and a wolf to take care of. He stood and walked the way he came, cautiously. He checked himself for the sparkle. It's clean. His dress was also clean.

He could feel the chilly air through his wet shirt. The dry leaves stuck in his boots. He removed his shirt. He squeezed the water out of it and wore it back. He did things, but his mind searched for some danger.

The wolf was back to normal, happily padded next to him. He looked at the wolf in confusion. A few minutes ago, it looked as if he was nearly dead. Now it was happy at the top of the world.

Asher shook his head. He looked at the sky. It might have passed three. He nearly spent the whole night in the forest. He kicked a rock. He wondered if he wanted to go back and check on those people.

No. Asher finished his job.

Saved them.

Helped them fight back.

Now, he had to let them live their life. But his heart pulled him towards them. He wondered what his father say if he found out about Asher’s new adventure. He was going to get disowned again. He was sure of that. He huffed at that thought.

The wolf rubbed himself on Asher’s leg and whimpered. It brought him back. He chuckled.

“I am good. Just thinking about my home.” Asher assured the wolf.

He went to the car. But something was wrong. All four of his car's doors were opened. He ran straight to his car and checked inside. His whole car was empty.

“Chris.” Asher looked inside his back seat.

His phone, keys, purses, everything was missing including Chris.

“Is that why you were panicking back there?”

The wolf looked at him in fake innocence. He could clearly see his acting. There was no way a thief stole from him in the middle of the forest.

Then who did this? Was this the work of those monsters? He didn’t care about his phone or things. But Chris. He needed to get his Chris back.

A rustle far away made him listen in that direction carefully. His wolf got tensed, too.

Both Asher and his wolf looked in that direction. The sound was minimal. In fact, it was nothing to human ears. A human would never notice it. But due to his animal instinct, he heard it. He wanted to go and check if that person had stolen his things.

The confusing sound was coming in their direction. He braved himself. But his little wolf whimpered and ran into the shadow. It confused the hell out of him.

What was going on around him? He knew which way his wolf disappeared. But he didn’t bother to look where he went. He knew that his wolf would come back to him.

First, he needed to get his brother's pet back, his brother back.

He could hear the sound getting higher and higher. A figure appeared in the shadow. He couldn’t see it properly. Because they were still hiding in the trees. But it was gradually moving towards him.

Asher looked sharply at the shadow. His eyes never left the figure. The figure slowly came into light from the shadow, revealing itself from the trees.
