Asher wondered if he was imagining things. A wolf turned into a girl. Shifters. His mind answered for him. But the problem is his heart. It was telling him that it is normal. And worse is that his heart telling him that he belongs here.
“So that answers everything,” Asher muttered.
“Look, we…” Fred tried to explain.
But Fable who is a female version of the twins knocked the air out of him. She punched him in the stomach before hugging him.
“Oh, Ethan. Where have you been? I had been searching for you all the places. That bastard said you are dead and…” Fable pointed at Frank and started to brawl her eyes on his shoulder.
“Ethan, Ethan…” Asher saw a child which refused to grow in her.
He placed his hand on the top of her head.
“You know, Ethan would have loved you too. He would have seen you as his own child. Not as a little cousin.” He has no idea why he said that.
His words made her look at his face in confusion. Asher thought that she understood that he is not Ethan. But never expected her response.
“Not little cousin. I am the older one.”
She knocked Asher on his head. Asher looked at her stunned. No one, ever, dared to touch him in his head.
“You became alpha and got a right to forget your own family. Too bad. Ethan. I am the elder one. Next is Fred. Then frank. Then you. You are the baby. Huh. Did some hit you on your head?” She ranted and picked the pup who was proudly sitting next to his leg and rubbed him without acknowledging his shock.
Asher turned to look at the twins.
Fred’s cheeks were red. And Frank looked like he had enough. They are both fed up with their elder sister.
“Asher I am sorry. Even Ethan become alpha, she still treated him like a little brother. Ethan never stopped her. Sorry.” Fred apologized.
“Yeah, it’s great that she didn’t spank your ass for messing up.” Someone chuckled from the crowd.
Their expression was like we know it will happen. We tried to save you but you got caught on your own.
“Fable, this is Asher.” Fred tried to explain.
“Huh?” She scratched the pup's ear and kissed its head.
“Not Ethan, ASHER.”
“No, it’s Ethan.”
‘Woman, you are Alpha’s cousin. How can you not know your own brother after you grew up with him?”
“Exactly, my wolf screams for her long-lost brother when I see him. So it's Ethan. Period. Ethan? Did you get reincarnation or something?” She looked at him to explain why everyone calls him from his birth instead of calling him Ethan.
Asher combed his head. He saw a man looking hungry at Fable. His whole body burned in rage. He removed his shirt and covered her. When he covered her Asher's eyes never left the bastard. The bastard looked frightened and looked down.
Fable looked at the shirt, then at Asher then at the man who assaulted her with his eyes.
“So you are really not Ethan, huh? That man whom you killed with your eyes is my husband. And this is my son Tony.” She pressed her lips and tears started to form in her eyes.
She must have relaxed that her brother is back. Asher doesn’t want to hurt her.
“Think of me as Ethan. I am your brother too.” Asher's eyes softened.
“I had a sister she died in an accident. I don’t remember her but I think she must have been like you.” Asher looked at Fable’s husband.
He smiled. The man nodded his head.
“Sorry, whatever situation we are in. When we see our mates we can never control ourselves. We wolves were designed that way. We come in pair.” The man explained.
That took him to a specific wolf. He looked around the forest. What if?
“Why are you explaining about the wolf, pie?” Fable demanded.
“Hooman,” Tony shifted in Fable’s arm.
He looked sweetly at his mother before slapping her nose. Then hugged her neck only to squeeze it. Fable never bothered. She just kissed his head, but her eyes were on her husband.
“Shit, It’s in the gene now,” Asher muttered and wiped his face.
Frank chuckled. The crowd looked shocked when Frank chuckled. Maybe it is rare. But Asher didn’t care.
Asher had enough adventure for tonight. It is nearly dawn. He can see light. He was tired like hell.
“I am going. He announced.” The crowd murmured.
“Where, Alpha?” Tony demanded.
“To a motel or something. I need to sleep." Asher didn’t have the heart to say that he is not Alpha to Tony. So he just ignored it.
Tony looked like he was about to cry. So does his mother. Before he blinks Fable’s husband was holding her shoulder to comfort her.
He went to the house. Chris was laying upside down lethargically. He went to the cage and tried to break it. It was hard as hell.
“Let me.” Fred came in.
He removed a specific bamboo from the cage and easily opened the lid. Chris came out. He looked at Asher but slithered into Fred’s hand. Fred smiled.
"I miss you too. Brother. We meet again surely." Fred nuzzled at Chris.
Once he had enough he lifted his head towards Asher. Asher lifted him up effortlessly. He picked his purse and key near the table and walked out. His heart bled somewhat painfully. But he refused to turn back at them. He heard their whimper. He went straight to his car but his ears were searching for a specific wolf’s sound. He needed to know something which is already obvious.
He placed Chris next to him and started his car. He smiled painfully at him. Chris must have sensed it. Because he was studying at Asher which he rarely does.
“Ok, bro. Let’s go home.” Asher muttered.
He turned his wheel. But something caught his eye. Someone was running for his life. He looked directly in because of dawn. His eyes widened and he ran. From the dress, Asher understood that it was one of the prisoners who got escaped from the cage.
“Shit”. Asher muttered.
He combed his hair. Asher knows clearly if he escaped, it will bring these people trouble.
