To Be King (Book 1)

Chapter Three

Chapter Three

Jan 25, 2022

Alissa Moore's Point of View:

Enchanting.

That's the very first word that came to mind when I saw the buildings of France from our jet window. Brianna sat in front of me looking as excited as I felt. Dom was able to convince dad to let us take the jet out this weekend while he focused on changing his mind. I've traveled a lot for my work and France has been one of the places I wanted to visit but not when I had to focus on work. I still can't believe that I'm actually in France. This is my chance to see Rafael. I hope he remembers me.

"We're in France," Bri squealed shocking me out of my daze. She was just as excited as me.

"I know," I replied to her "I can hardly believe it.

"Believe it, big sis," she said pulling off her seatbelt "we're finally here"

I followed her actions taking off my seatbelt and standing up. I glanced behind me to see our two bodyguards Jacob and John walking towards us with our suitcases in hand. I love my brother dearly but sometimes he is a tad bit overprotective and that is how we ended up bringing bodyguards in the first place. At first, he was fixated on there being four of them but I managed to talk him down to two. He wasn't about to let us leave without any at all. He said it was a deal-breaker for him and I was too excited for this trip to argue with him.

"Hey, Jacob...John," I greeted them. It was weird that both their names started with J.

"Good afternoon Ms. Moore," they spoke simultaneously smiling slightly. All my other bodyguards were stiff and almost robotic as they showed no emotion. I'm glad to see they could at least smile.

I groaned out loud at their formality, I swear I hate it when they call me that. It makes me feel like I'm old or like I'm my mother.

"How many times do I have to tell you to call me Alissa...please call me Alissa," I say to them.

"Yes M- Alissa," Jacob replied nervously.

A small smirk crept up on my face to settle on my lips when Jacob made the slip-up. This is about the fifth time that I'm telling them to call me by my first name. I turned around to call Brianna but I was surprised to see that she was already gone. I shook my head in amusement, she's like a little child excited for some candy.

I gingerly walked down the steps of the jet and stood on the ground of the airport. I was actually in France. I don't think it'll ever fully register with me that I was actually here. I looked to my right and easily spotted Bri who was standing next to a sleek black limo. Well, I guess that was our ride that Dom arranged for us. He really thought of everything. I was looking forward to taking local transportation but I guess not. I walked over to her with both Jacob and John in tow.

Just as I reached Bri a tall blonde and handsome young man opened the door allowing us to get in. He had such a pretty face that I found myself wondering how I didn't even notice him standing next to Bri. I was even more baffled when Bri ignored him. She was normally a lot nicer than this but I guess she didn't like him.

Both Jacob and John placed our luggage in the trunk of the limo closing it after them. I stepped inside after Bri secured herself in the plush leather seats. I have to hand it to Dom I was rather comfortable right now but I'd never tell him that and feed into his overprotectiveness.

Jacob and John went to the front seat and settled in the limo. Jacob to my left and John to my right. The blonde-haired man handed Jacob a set of keys and excused himself disappearing among the other persons in the airport. Well, I guess he wasn't staying with us just passing on a key. Are these the things people get paid for nowadays? I have no idea.

"We're going to have so much fun," Bri squealed reaching over to squeeze my hand.

My face instantly softened and a small smile flitted across my lips "yes we will," I squealed in return just as the limo pulled away from the airport.

Bri and I had our faces pressed to our respective windshields as we looked at the scenery of France. The buildings varied in architecture and style. Some were rather old in design while others looked newly constructed. But even with the differences in style one thing remained, it looked beautiful. The buildings in America couldn't compare.

I wouldn't mind living in a place like this. Dom and Bri would have a fit if they knew what I was thinking.

I was okay with the way my life was right now. I wasn't in love with it but I was okay with how things were. I wanted to be in love with my life. I feel as if something was missing but hopefully, I'll find that missing piece soon.

"We're here," Bri shook me as she radiated excitement "Isn't it beautiful?"

I looked to our hotel building and beamed at what I saw. It was stunning. The pictures on their website didn't do the hotel justice. The colors were more vibrant and the garden to the sides of the hotel was a lush green.

"I can't believe you found this place," I told Bri as we climbed out of the limo.

"I know right," she grinned "I am pretty good when it comes to these things"

We went to the reception area and quickly checked in. Jacob and John helped us with our luggage even though we objected. We found a bellboy who loaded everything into a cart and went up the elevator to the penthouse.

Dom insisted that we got this room. It was the most spacious and had multiple bedrooms which was great since we had bodyguards with us.

I took a room and set my suitcase down. I took off my duffel bag and set it on the ground. Flopping down on the bed I closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep.
