To Be King (Book 1)

Chapter Four

Chapter Four

Jan 26, 2022

Alissa Moore's Point of View:

"Oh my God!"

"What?...what happened?...where's the fire?"

I jumped up from my bed only to hear someone laughing. I looked around through blurry eyes and spotted my sister, Bri, sitting in front of me laughing her ass off. Rolling my eyes I turned away from her and looked through the window, it was still sunny so I couldn't have been sleeping very long. Sitting up I pulled out my phone from my pocket to check the time. It was just as I thought it was just ten minutes past three.

"Let's go to one of those stores to shop for your dress," my sister said...well more like demanded.

"Why would I need a dress?" I asked quizzically.

"Someone kill me," she groaned slapping a hand to her forehead "did you forget about the dance?" she questioned me frustratedly.

In all honesty, I didn't forget about the dance. It's been on my mind ever since we left for Paris. It's just really fun getting Bri all riled up. She's normally a sweet and calm person but when you mess with her and fashion you just crossed a dangerous line. In an effort to lighten the mood I playfully shoved her on the shoulder a small smile dancing on my lips. She didn't seem at all amused by me and my teasing.

"Chill Bri," I cajoled her "I didn't forget about the dance...though I did forget about a dress"

She turned to me all smiles informing me that we would find a beautiful dress here, since this is the city of love and also is a fashion hotspot, apart from Milan of course. She shooed me to go and get ready to leave. I decided to take a quick shower and pulled my hair up into a ponytail. I pulled on some jeans with a comfy top and some sneakers. If we were going shopping I wanted to be comfortable doing it. Bri loved to shop and could spend hours doing it but I preferred to just go in and out of a store. Shopping was exhausting to me. We grabbed our purses and went down to the lobby.

Jacob and left to get us a rental car and pulled up to us. Next thing I knew Bri had Jacob stop the car while she pulled me out since I was complaining that I was tired. Three hours later, six different clothing stores, five different shoe stores and I was officially asleep on my feet. I honestly don't know how Bri does this. I was seconds away from collapsing. Luckily for me, we found the perfect dress and heels and we could finally head back to the hotel.

As soon as we reached our hotel and checked into a room I quickly ran up the stairs went straight into the kitchen and made something to eat. I made some pasta which was quick and easy and ate my share. I left the rest for Bri, Jacob, and John who was busy doing God knows what. After eating I went into my bedroom and closed the door behind me. Stripping down to just my bra and panties I crawled under the sheets and in less than a second I was out like a light.

I woke up to find my sister all dolled up and poking me in the side. Why does she insist on making my life difficult? I just want to sleep.

"What do you want?" I grumbled, annoyed at having my precious sleep disturbed.

"You need to get up," she urged me pulling at my arm.

I slowly sat up wrapping the sheets around me. This is the second day in a row that she's forcing me out of bed.

"What is it?" I questioned again "and why the hell did you wake me...I wasn't finished sleeping"

I jumped from shock when she suddenly started shaking me, with a firm grip on my shoulders. I was already awake was it really necessary for her to shake the life out of me.

"It's the night of the dance," she shouted at me "you've been asleep for a day and a half"

"What?!" I shrieked freaking out. I looked at my phone that was resting on top of the bedside table, I guess I left it there last night or 2 days ago. I opened the phone to see that she was indeed right and I slept for a day and a half.

At least I got a lot of beauty sleep.

Oh shut it I shouted at the voice in my head. Scrambling off the bed I quickly got ready with my loving sister's assistance of course. I rushed to the bathroom to take a quick shower and wash my hair. I brushed my teeth at the same time and wrap myself in a table. I came out and quickly moisturized myself while Bri took out my makeup and got my dress and heels out. I started doing my makeup going for a natural yet sultry look while Bri did my hair.

An hour and forty-five minutes later and I was ready. I looked over at my sister who looked extremely stunning in her off-the-shoulder red gown. Sometimes I couldn't believe my sister was this grown-up. Slipping on my heels and grabbing my clutch, we exited the room with Jacob and John hot on our heels. They looked great in their black suits, Jacob wore a bow tie while John wore a regular tie.

The car pulled up to the old castle in France and I was rather confused about why they chose this location but I didn't question it.

"I'm so nervous," I whispered to Bri who sat beside me unusually quiet.

"It'll be fine," she said looking straight at me.

Smiling at her words I turned to look out the door. There was an alarming amount of paparazzi and I was a bit scared. We had to deal with the paparazzi at home because of having famous parents but I never got used to them. Taking a deep breath I squared my shoulders and kept my head held high.

Let's do this.
