I was never good at starting stories.  The words just couldn’t ever fall in the right places.  Maybe I should start the begining with an ending.  Sounds a bit poetic, huh?  Now let's start how all good stories start. With someone dying.

Maybe something like this

“Sorry for bleeding on you.” A grunted as they eased themselves up into a sitting position.

B pressed the gauze pad tighter over A’s gushing wound.

“What was that? I can’t hear you over the gaping hole in your chest.”

B’s hands stayed firm but their voice betrayed her current desperate state.

A looked down at the gushing hole, knowing it was already too much blood.  "You gotta get out of here, they are already on their way. Won't be long for them to get up 5 flights of stairs."  A said looking at the door.

"I can patch you up, I always did in the past right?" B's voice cracking a little at the end.

"Besides if you die then you are skipping out on our deal, remember? You were gonna take me to that diner you always talk about."

Blood kept pouring from the wound, already going through the gauze.

"You can always go without me, just put it on my tab." A said, knowing that they owed several hundred dollars worth, that they wouldn't have to pay anymore.

"We both know that tab is bullshit," B said, tearing another gauze pad open with their teeth "and you are the one who is going to pay for it.". B removed the fully blood soaked pad and replaced it with the new one. "And besides we have some time from the traps we set on the stairwell, so you and I are both getting out of this." A could see the panicking tears in B's eyes.  Not for fear of getting caught, but for the thought of leaving A behind.

BOOM

"That's the first charge going off," A said, spitting out blood, " only 2 more left."

B knew what they needed to do, but the adrenaline and the time spent with A kept them pressing against the wound, trying their best to save their already dead comrade. The sound of boots thundering up the stairs well grew louder. A knew what they had to do too. They knew B wouldn't leave willingly. So they did what needed to be done.

With dying strength, once enough to lift a small car, A picked up the small B and walked them across the room, the stomping of the boots growing closer.

BOOM

The second charge going off shook the building.  The only one left was wired to the entire room, each wall holding five pounds of C4 charges set to go off once the door to the room opened, destroying everything in the room.  A knew it would incinerate all the plans, weapons, and two years of work used to accomplish world changing actions, including A.

A clipped B to the emergency zip line running out the window to the next building over to an escape bag and car keys to a van in a hidden alley providing an escape from this exact scenario.  But this scenario wasn't exactly as planned.  It was planned for two.  But plans change.  A looked into B's eyes, seeing them wide and full of tears.  B saw A's hardened expression, knew exactly what they were doing, and began to claw at them trying to hold on with bloody fingers at any loops or folds in A's clothes.  But none were found.  As the footsteps came right to the outside of the door and pulled B close and whispered in their ear, and threw them out the window just as the door was rammed down.  The explosion threw B and sagging the once tight zip cord, dropping B seven stories, hitting the top of a street light and crushing a white van below.
