It has been a few weeks since my birth. I have adapted better to my "new situation", better than I had thought, although it is still strange to be a baby again and even more so when I am aware of it.
I can't do anything alone and I always need help, it is very difficult to move, I can't even walk or crawl, I can only wait in my crib for a maid to take care of me. Despite all the inconveniences of being a child, I enjoy it, I really enjoy it. Being around mom is nice, anything I do being around her is fun, from morning walks to bedtime, for some reason it always brings back nostalgia of a distant past.
I wasn't alone wasting time and enjoying my new life, as I wandered around the house in mom's arms I discovered a few things: apparently we have a certain degree of prestige in the place where we live; there are not many houses around, and it is very cold although I hardly feel it; I have no brothers or sisters and I have not visited my "father" even once; despite living in such a big house there are not many people in it, there is just us and two maids, I think their names are Rudith and Saraa, that is what I can understand since I do not understand much of the language they speak. The best for the end, the big news that changed everything; I am not human.
After a few days after my birth, my vision gradually improved and I could see my mother and her huge blue-black horns on top of her head more clearly, the same with Saraa and Rudith. The two maids are dressed in the same way, but their respective aprons are different, both are wearing: black sandals, dark brown pants and white t-shirts with long sleeves. As for their aprons, Saraa's is dark blue with some embroidered roses and Rudith's is black with several small white dragons flying. All three of the girls around me are beautiful.
It was quite a surprise to see Mom's horns and the maids' horns, I don't deny it. I don't quite know what I am, but I'm pretty sure not a human. If I base it on the knowledge of my past "self", some video games and anime, I would say I'm a demon or something like that, but the truth is I'm not sure and I can only wait to see if in the future I manage to find out.
It frustrates me the idea of not knowing anything about the place where I am and because of my limitations not being able to investigate, unfortunately I can only wait.

A few months later...
It's been a while since I got here and some things have changed: I can finally talk! It's just single words, not forming a sentence and mispronounced, but I can speak. Thanks to Saraa, Rudd and my mother, I was able to understand and speak better the language here, there is still a long way to go but it's a great progress, all by trial and error. Another great news is that I can walk, well crawl, but this is enough to do what I wanted to do for a long time: investigate my house.
Today is the big day, I memorized the time when mom takes her nap and when the girls clean the other side of the house, there is no better time than this. Let's get to work.
I take a look around and check that it's all clear. After a few attempts, I manage to climb up the crib and get out of my room. For my benefit, the doors have no handles, so I advance slowly and always attentive. A long hallway appears before my eyes: to the right are several doors and to the left is a fence that covers the hallway, behind it is mom's room that connects to mine. During the walks with mom I have gone through a good part of the house, but I hardly ever went into these rooms and the ones on the second floor, I spent my most time in her room, in the living room and in the yard. I continue moving forward to the first door and open it, it's the bathroom: there's a mirror and a sink made of very nice stone, a clear place to wash and a space for necessities. Nothing impressive, I keep moving forward.
I am in front of the second door, I open it: nothing. There is literally nothing, it's just an empty room, did this room belong to someone? Why don't they use it? I don't have time to waste, so I advance to the next door on the other side of the corridor, but on the way something attracts my attention completely: some hand-painted pictures hanging on the walls near the empty room, they are very beautiful. One of them is a green meadow where the wind blows fiercely while several dragons fly towards the horizon, another is a red-haired girl and a smaller blonde girl having fun chasing a woman with long white hair, no doubt they are Saraa, Rudith and mom. They are just two of several others hanging on this side of the hallway as well as the other. Right in the middle of the stairs leading down to the second floor, there is a giant painting of two people. I lower the scleras and look at it: I recognize my mother at first glance, but the other person I don't know who it is. It is strange to look at him because he looks like me, or rather, I look like him. After a while observing the painting and lost in my thoughts, I leave things as they are and continue with the mission.
I follow the clues that lead me to the other corridor, here there are also different types of paintings from large to small, but they do not attract my attention as the previous ones. I open the first door of this corridor and I find another bathroom like the previous one. I continue forward to the next door, when I open it I see several wooden boxes with different types of vegetables and fruits, several bags with grains, different herbs, among other things. It is the warehouse where they keep the food, I am not hungry at the moment and even if I wanted to I could not reach anything, so I move forward.
I've been wandering around the second floor of the house for a while and soon Saraa and Rudith will be back, so I have to hurry. I get to the third door and open it, it's a small room: there's a bed, a closet, a shelf and a medium size table. It is Saraa's or Rudith's room. I observe the room for a while, but the most amazing thing I will see here will be underwear thrown on a corner of the bed, I won't get anything of value here. I leave and head to the next room.
The door is ajar, I put my head in to listen and see if anyone is there; suddenly the door opens.
"How did you get here, Rayzel?" asked Saraa with a bit of astonishment.
In front of me stands my maid with a face that is full of doubts, the mission failed and I was discovered, only one option remains: run! I crawl a few meters until Saraa takes me in her arms and carries me to my room. The rest of the day I spent pretending to play and eating a few things with mom. It wasn't a total failure, another day another chance.
It's been a few weeks since my adventure. It didn't go as I expected, but it's worse than nothing. I discovered that there is nothing of interest to me on the second floor, so the plan is this: go down to the second floor and investigate. Simple and concise, just the way I like it. But a problem arose, since my little escapade mom and the maids don't take their eyes off me, they are probably afraid that I hurt myself or something like that, after all I am only a baby of a year and a few months old. I guess I will have to be patient and wait for my chance, when I can walk and go down the huge stairs I will have what I am looking for.

A few months later...
Everything followed its course normally, spent the days having fun with mom and the girls, we all had lunch together and went to have fun in the yard, playing in the grass despite the cold and admiring the scenery, taking my naps and at night listening to the stories mom told me in her room, that was my routine for a while. It was in that place where I was finally able to take my first steps, it was quite hard and I fell several times, but I can finally walk. I was also able to improve my understanding, comprehension and speaking of this language, I still don't know how to read or write, but I will solve that later when I have more information. Now my goal is to resume my mission: to investigate the house.
I have more freedom than before, but I can't take everything lightly, so wait for the perfect occasion. Today is a special day, it's mom's birthday and as a consequence Saraa and Rudith will be busy preparing for the party, plus mom went out this morning. It is the perfect occasion to carry out my mission.
I find myself in the living room playing with some ugly wooden dolls while the girls prepare the appetizers for the party. It's now or never: let's get to work. I let go of the dolls and head for the door that is a few meters in front of me, it's huge and heavy, I won't be able to open it. I don't waste time and go to the next one, it's a much smaller door and has something written on it, but as I don't understand it I ignore it and open it. It is a painting room, there are several small and large paintings all over the room: some blank, others finished and some others to be finished. I think the paintings on the second floor were made by one of the girls in this house, who could it be? I clear all questions and continue looking around the room, there is not much more than paintings, easels, canvases, utensils, chairs and another door. The last one interests me, in the position it's in I'm sure it leads to the other room with the giant door, I'm going to try to open it.
I head towards it and open it. What my eyes see is beyond belief.
"It's a library!" I said in utter amazement.
I have never entered one, in my previous life I was not doing well in my studies and I had the thought that libraries were not necessary since the internet existed, the irony is that now it is my salvation. I need to learn to read and get as much information as I can out of these books, it is such a huge amount that I think it will take me a few years to finish them all: if I manage to read them all, I am not a big fan of reading.
After wandering with my thoughts and passing the awe of the majestic room in front of my eyes, I advance to the shelves full of books.
"How many books will be here, thousands?"
I pick one up at random, it is heavy and its cover is completely red. I put it on the floor and open it, I start turning page by page without understanding a word of what it says. Unfortunately, this book has no illustrations. I return it to its place and take another one, I keep doing the same until I find a book with an illustration on its cover or pages. It takes me some time and a few dozen books, but I succeed. Its color is white, it is not as heavy as the others, and on its cover is what appears to be a person holding a bow. On closer inspection it appears to be a girl, and on her head there is something peculiar: her ears are very long.
"I shouldn't be surprised, after all I have horns," I said with a sarcastic tone. "I may be wrong, but this certainly is an elf..."
"Elf, yes. It's just as you say, sweetheart."
A woman in a long white dress stands behind me.
"Aaah! What a scare, Mom!" I said in exultation.
"Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha. Come here."
She smiles as she takes me in her arms next to the book. I didn't hear her approach, it took me by complete surprise.
"Mom, I want to learn how to read this book."
"Do you think you can handle it? This book is written by a person who knows a lot about elves and his way of writing is very difficult to understand."
"I want to try, I want to impress you."
"All right, I'll tell Saraa to teach you to read and write. You still have a few years to go, but I guess trying now won't do any harm," Mom said with a smile on her face as she stroked my head.
That ends my sneaking around, my missions and fooling around. Now begins the stage of study and learning more about this place I find myself in.
