Mila froze. Even the speed runner heart stopped for a second. That voice, she knew that voice. ‘Think, think, where did I heard it before?’ she tried to remember, but her brain had shut down completely. She turned around.
A giant shadow was a few feet away from her. ‘Run.’ The self-preservation voice screamed inside the girl brain but the legs didn’t obeyed. The orange almost golden light from the setting sun gave the Shadow a reddish aura. Mila was frozen in fear. The shadow gave one step in her direction.
She screamed from the top of her lungs.
-God Dammit woman!- The creature spoke again.- Fuck! Whatahell are you screaming for? –
His voice was strong, deep, loud and it awoke her from her petrified state. It was all she need to turn around to run back inside, but as cliché as it could be, she stumbled on her own feet.
- Are you out of your damm mind Milla?!- He was getting closer. – Did you hurt yourself?-
He was beside her, crouching down and she could see his face. The world froze for her. Everything stopped, even the almighty sun. The “ Shadow” was a a Boy. No, no, scratch that. A Man. The most beautiful Mila ever saw. His black hair was short on the sides and long on the top. She could tell he would run his hand on it regularly. His browns were almost perfect, they formed a frown on his face. Lips that promised nothing less than passionate and hopefully inappropriate kisses, even the scar under his lower lip was sexy. She wished she could kiss that scar. Of course he had a noose to match. Why aim for less than perfection right? And his eyes, she had heard about the partial heterocromia once, but never saw it so close. Half of the iris was black and the other half gray. ‘Oh my god…’ his body was covered in scars. Some were small, but most of them were longer and deeper, for sure whatever happened to him, must have hurt. A lot. His muscles were proof that he workout on daily bases and she imagined how it would fell to be embraced by those arms, the rise and fall of his chest was alluring. She wanted to sleep there. ‘Six Pack… Check.’ She smiled to herself. His V Line was showing even in his crouching position, her eyes were following the path to heaven when she was brought back to reality by a snap right in front of her nose.
- Are you done checking me out?- He gave her a knowing grinn, and all the blood that were frozen in her body, flushed to her face.
-I am so, so sorry. – ‘ Not really actually.’- I… uh… you gave me a good scary and I well… You …. I…. – She mentally kicked herself ‘ He is not a piece of meat.’- This is embarrassing.- she laugh miserably.
- I bet that is. – He chuckled while standing up and offering a hand to the girl- You sure as hell are strange girl Milla.- He had bright smile.
’Shit. He has dimples!... He is not a piece of meat!’ her inner voice reminded.
- Excuse me? – she was blushing again, but not from embarrassment this time. – Strange? - crossing her arms while raising a brown to the strange man.
- Yup.- He put his hand behind his head. Exposing every muscle available.
‘ Repeat with me Milla, he is NOT a piece of meat.’- I am not strange!- she raise her voice a little.- It wasn’t me who appeared out of thin air! And how the fuck do you know my name?-
-You see Milla, there was I, minding my own business, on my way for a swim, when heard screams coming from the house that is supposed to be empty, came to check it out and found you talking alone…- he pointed to the spot were she had her breakdown a moment before.- And me being the well educated man that I am, asked if you were ok. I think that you can put the rest of events in order alone right? – he was grining to her.- And unless Milla is your imaginary friend… That is how I got your name.-
-Oh…- That was about all Milla could answer. To him, she really must look… stranger… - Sorry. I had a long day. And was distracted…. You really scared me.- she was ashamed ‘ Great! He totally think I am crazy!’- No imaginary friends at the moment. Camilla Wilson… Friends call me Milla.- she extended a hand.
- Vhid…- He placed a kiss on hand Looking straight to her eyes.- Vhid Errdegahr.- Winking he let her hand go.
Goosebumps were dancing happily around Mila’s body. And the butterfly felt more like a wind storm inside her belly. His touch was kind, even if his hands were rough. Again was impossible ignore the felling that he was familiar. Her body was a hot mess with just this little interaction with Vhid. His name was foreign, yet she heard her own voice repeating it easily - Vhid Errdegahr.- Doomed. She was doomed. His dimples would be the death of her! All it took for him to show them up, was her saying his name.
-You are the first one to get my name right at the first try…- and she blushed.- Wait…Fuck me… Don’t tell me that you are Hunter’s little girl?-
She was amazed. He knew her father’s call sign!- Yeah, I am my Father’s little girl!-
-Sorry for ya lost.- he came closer- Hunter was a great man. I respected the old bastard.- he was taller than her. She didn’t considered herself as a small person. Average for the female gender, something around 5’3”. Vhid on the other hand was huge! He bend a little so he could be face to face to her.- When he talked about his little princess I didn’t took it seriously. But damm, he was talking the truth. –
- I am not small! I am compact! It’s not my fault that you grow up more than you should! – Two can play this game. And Mila was going for the kill – I can bet my sexy ass, that you need to be extra carefull not to hit your head around.
Vhid scratched the shadow of a beard on his face looking down at the small woman – Are you always up to put your sexy ass on the line?- he raised his scarred brown to her.
-Only when I am absolutely sure that I am right!- for a second she almost lost it. His sided grin was sexy, dangerously sexy.
- Is that right? – She nodded triumphantly and he leaned to her ear whispering- In that case I better be sure to stick around and make sure that you’ll make the wrong bet.-
Wet. She was a lot of things confused, speechless, breathless, shocked, but above all this she was wet. Her face was red she was pretty sure about it, and she watched Vhid turn around and walk down the now dark river shore.
-It’s getting late Shorty,- he talked without look back.- See you tomorrow.
Standing still she watched his shadow make a turn and a just a couple yards away disappeared into the darkness. A bright light confirmed what she was suspecting. Neighbor. Vhid was her next door neighbor!
- Holy mother of all Shits!-
