“Damien is currently in the hospital, the doctor said he’s stable just hasn’t woken up yet,” Tane explained plopping a hand on Beau’s shoulder. “Don’t worry, my boy’s strong, he’ll be awake before you know it.” a supportive squeeze only ended up making Beau more uncomfortable.
“Which hospital is he in?” Beau asks tensing up her shoulders at his touch. Tane finally releases her and reaches for a piece of paper on the bookshelf.
“Here are directions and his room number” He hands it to her with a friendly smile. Beau gave him a small nod of thanks before putting it away in her purse.
“If they’re staying here I need you to grab everything related to the agency, there should be a key in my bedroom that’ll lock my study tight,” Damien said in a rushed voice getting really tired of having to watch Beau witness his parents cry. “My bedroom is upstairs and down the hallway, see if you can sneak away without them following” Beau nods slightly to herself.
“I hate to disrupt our conversation but I left a few things over here and I need them for work.” Beau tried her best to sound casual about it despite her round tomato face.
“Goodness! You’re already spending the night together after a few months?” Kiana's face was shocked and Beau had to hold back defending herself so she wouldn’t accidentally reveal her lie through over-explaining. “I guess young people nowadays don’t want to wait for love.” She sighs “Go ahead dear, grab what you need” She smiles politely as Beau walks up the stairs quickly.
“Why’d you have to go with a girlfriend, now they’ll never get off my back about grandbabies” Damien groaned in embarrassment.
“They shouldn’t have even been here, it's against our contract to have anyone live with us that's outside of the agency, you’re gonna get yourself killed,” Beau whispered in a worried tone as she walked down the long hallway.
“They wanted to move in for a bit and I tried to tell them no but I passed out before I could!” Damien argued back only causing Beau to let out a deep sigh.
“I’m sorry, we’ll figure this out don’t worry.” Her voice turned sorrow-filled again, plucking at Damien’s heartstrings. “Is this the door?” She turned to a very large and grand-looking piece of wood before her.
“That would be the study, my bedroom is next door.“ His hand pointed to which one, she nodded quietly and walked in. Just as decorative and trendy as the rest of the house, though his room was a bit messier. Clothes on the floor, wastebasket filled, laptop open with a dusty screen. “Grab the laptop, there are some papers on my nightstand, and the key should be in one of my dresser drawers…” He trailed off trying to think of anything he might be missing as Beau got to collecting. While grabbing papers off the table, his laptop woke up, the screen showing an article about a new reality tv show. Once Damien realized what was on the screen he quickly slammed it shut with his arm.
“Big fan of Trash TV?” Beau teased before grabbing and slipping it inside her purse.
“Not another word about this…” He muttered as she continued with her mission. She’s grabbed every bit of evidence of the agency from his room, all that was left is to dig for was the key. Scrambling around consciously trying not to make Damien uncomfortable by looking at any private articles of clothing for too long. Soon his hand feels something cold and hard brush against his skin during his blind rummaging. “Found it! Let's go!” Quickly locking up the study and rushing downstairs, Beau was ready to run out of the building.
“Oh honey, you’re leaving so soon? I made us tea!” Kiana’s disappointed voice made Beau feel guilty for all the lies she told. She seems like a very sweet mom who cares about her son despite the insensitive comments she made about Beau’s body.
“I’m sorry, I have to run to work right now!” Beau forced herself to keep walking towards the elevator. Once inside she repeatedly pressed the button in a panic before she let her moral compass take control.
Soon enough she was home and safe, she may have missed a workday but due to the circumstances, she hopes her supervisors let her off easy. Of course, she still has many things to worry about, one arriving at her door now.
‘BANG BANG BANG’
“Who would knocking at this hour?!” Damien exclaimed, exhausted from everything this day had brought him.
“I think I know who…” Beau opens it a crack peaking through to see Caleb raising an eyebrow at her.
“You gonna let me in or what?” He flashed a 6 pack of beer in his boney pale hands.
“Who is that? Don’t let him in! We’re kinda in the middle of something here!” Damien exclaimed already stressed out to his limit and not wanting any other third parties interfering in this situation.
“Caleb now isn’t really a good ti-” Beau started but Caleb cut her off by pushing himself through the doorway. Loudly chewing his gum he scans his eyes across the room for any oddities.
“So.” He spins his heels to peer his tired-looking face into hers. The bags under his eyes made them look droopy and half-open. “Who were you talking to?” He smirks as if he already knows the answer which only made Damien and Beau more fidgety with anxiety.
“To myself” Beau instinctually looked away from the eye contact he was making, he finally stands up straight with a smile on his face.
“Awe, I love your crazy lil noggin” He gives Beau two firm knocks on her head causing Damien to reach up and rub the now sore spot. Caleb plops himself on the couch confidently cracking open a beer and turning on the tv. He pats the seat next to him waiting for Beau to join, which she obediently does. He tilts his head to the side, examining her with his icy blue eyes, wrapping an arm around her shoulders to pull her in for a cuddle. “Caleb I can’t really hang out with you tonight I have paperwork to finish” She tries to get some space between them not wanting to put Damien in an awkward position.
“You don’t remember?” With a dramatic hand over his heart and an audible gasp slipping from his mouth, he acts betrayed. “I reached 10 million followers on my art blog, we gotta celebrate before I get booked up all month for live paintings.” He smiles as Beau looks down guiltily.
“Okay… You can stay but not too long please, I really need to get this done” Beau sighed in defeat much to Damien’s arguments in her head. Caleb lifts her chin gently so she’s looking at him again. A pleased smile spreads across his lips as a red tint begins to fill her cheeks, he leans in closer.
“Good girl” His sultry voice whispers sweetly before placing a soft-gentle kiss on the rim of her ear, causing her whole body to go up in flames.
“I am still here, please stop!” Damien is practically screaming at this point since Beau is only listening to the pretty words coming out of Caleb's mouth. Thankfully she snaps back to reality and lightly pushes him away.
“I-I need to go to the bathroom!” Beau yells out as she scurries away like a frightened squirrel. Locking the door behind her she looks at herself in the mirror.
“Christ Ms. Baez, were you just going to let everything escalate with me in here?!” Damien shouted looking at her flustered yet unkempt appearance.
“I’m sorry! My mind just went blank!” She whimpered back in a hushed tone realizing her boss just saw all that. She bit her lip knowing she has to tell him something else embarrassing. “I need to um…” She trailed off, hiding her face with her hand. Damien let out a loud sigh knowing damn well what she needs since he can feel it too.
“You have to pee don’t you…?” He lets out a frustrated groan, he was hoping he would’ve been back in his own body before that needed to happen, however, he can’t just switch off to give her privacy, he can’t deny her body autonomy, can’t make her choices for her, but he can try to get used to this situation and work together to make them both as comfortable as possible until a solution presents itself, until then Beau will just have to get used to taking care of her needs no matter how exposed she feels and Damien will have to get used to witnessing it.
