Laughing, the three went to meet some flora mages who prepared bouquets and other works of roses and lily.
The first of three days of festivities aimed at Gaia used to be the quietest, usually devoted to dancing and playing.
In fact, the real festival took place on the forty-fifth day of autumn, the equinox and the second day of the festival of Gaia, the whole city was decorated with plants and flowers in honor of the goddess, this is usually the day when the magicians gather during sunset in the center of the square to enjoy the magic of the equinox and perform your energy protection and cleansing rituals, ensuring peace and security until the winter solstice.
On the third day, the festival lost some of its hustle, but remained busy until the evening, ending with a fireworks display.
In the distance they noticed two mages arguing, one of them a little shorter than Aglia, he had long red hair, his black skin contrasted with the long emerald green tunic held at his waist by a belt of ropes of golden grass, he was waving his hands impatiently. The other mage, Callisto, frowned in annoyance, was taller than the triplets and wore a long, weathered pink coat, her black hair cut short and tousled in a small braid that fell behind her elven ear.
“If we're going to use lily to honor Alys, we should at least use some sage for Arandir.” Said the wizard in green.
“I like Arandir as much as you do, Aradir, but you know that lily and sage don't go well together.”
“Oh my!” Aglia said approaching her friends. “Come on, there's no reason to argue.”
“Aglia!” They both drew their attention to her. “how are you feeling?” Aradir asked approaching, his gray eyes gleaming with concern.
“I'm fine now, don't worry.” She said dismissing the arm that Calisto offered her for support. “It's not a little rain that's going to knock me down.”
“Et mun rox Callisto. Et mun rox Aradir.! They greeted Lilla and Rox lowering their heads, taking their left hand to their chest and then extending it as they raised their heads again.
One of the most common greetings in Merion, especially among mages, is the act of offering your heart and head to the other, showing your trust and often respect for the other mage. This greeting is commonly called Firadhir. The phrase used by Lilla and Rox, in common parlance, literally means "The magic of the stars shines on our meeting", symbolizing the good fortune of a meeting, this phrase is often used between friends who haven't seen each other for a while.
“Et mun Rox farien.” Calisto replied, repeating the gesture.
'How are you, old friends?” Rox asked hugging both.
“Very well, thank you. And what about you?”
“Very good.”
”I heard you had returned to Mirandir, what brought you back?”
“Let's just say things are calmer around here.” Replied Aradir.
Aglia approached the arrangements, they were even more beautiful than those of the previous year, they seemed, in Aglia's eyes, to shine with a glow of their own.
"So how are the preparations going?" She asked, turning to them.
“We were just discussing which flowers we should use.”
“About whether or not to use sage, am I right?" They both nodded in confirmation.
“We decided on roses and lilies, to honor Gaia and Alys respectively, you know? But Callisto and I couldn't agree on which flower we should use for Arandir, sage is the plant, but Callisto insists that ‘It's not a good choice from a decorative point of view.’"
“And I reiterate. Oh! Sage with lilies and roses?” Retorted Callisto irritated. "We're not getting vases of honor, all the pennants will be exchanged for flowering vines, sage is out of the question."
“The festival is for Gaia, but since we are going to honor Alys, we should at least do this favor to Arandir. Also, what do you intend to use?”
“Any plant, as long as it's not sage.”
“Siblings-in-law.” Lilla whispered to Rox, who chuckled.
“Farien. There's no reason to fight, let's all calm down first, I know we can all find a solution to this.” Aglia said in her usual calm.
Aradir and, especially, Calisto took moments to stop looking at one, the other, but some energies, after a few moments, to focus their life on solving the problem.
“Why don't you use gardenia? It will go very well with roses and lilies.”
Callisto brought a hand to her face. “How I didn't think of that before.”
Aglia laughed when she saw that Aradir also looked incredulous for not having remembered the flower that was Arandir's favorite.
“That's what I always say, our little sister is a born leader.” Lilla said, wrapping one arm around Aglia.
“Lilla, be reasonable.”
“I am being a little sister, only you who don't see your qualities.” Implicated nudging Aglia's arm.
"By the way, where did Delfri and Ternia go? They were here until a minute ago.” Asked Aradir.
"Your sister and Delfri slipped away while we arguing." Callisto replied.
“Talking about me?” Said a female voice from behind the triplets.
The three turned to a mage as tall as Callisto, with black hair and skin a little lighter than Aradir's, her youthful face outlined an amused smile. Beside her was a brown-skinned mage with short turquoise hair that matched his cyan suit perfectly.
“Ternia!” Lilla exclaimed.
“Farien! How long! Et mun rox.” She said, using the usual gesture of greeting.
“Et mun rox.” The three repeated in unison.
“You three.” She laughed approaching Aradir and Calisto. “I went over to Cass's stall hoping to distract them with some food.” She said taking two baked pastel from a package “An apple pastel with roses for my beloved Callisto and one with grape and honey for my dear brother.” She said, as if to please.
Both began to eat the pastels immediately.
“Divine.”
"I told you it would work." She chuckled to the other mage.
Delfri approached and greeted the triplets. “It's a great pleasure to meet you, I'm Delfri. Calisto, Aradir and Térnia talked a lot about you, especially you, Rox? Am I right?” Calisto watched with amusement while Ternia waved for Delfri not to say anything else.
Aglia and Lilla had a certain worried tone, but as soon as they saw Rox's blush, Lilla couldn't help but burst out laughing.
“Callisto!” Rox exclaimed, shooting her a death glare.
Calisto just shrugged. “By the way, Rox, I'd like to talk to you.” Rox looked at her suspiciously “It's no therapy session, I just want to ask you something.”
Rox sighed and waved, Calisto got close enough for only Aglia and Lilla to hear and with a mischievous smile asked:
“My little sister Cass has been talking about you a lot, how are things going between you?”
Rox was so flushed that the little brown skin he had inherited from her sisters was now visible, at that moment all he wanted to do was stick his own head in a hole and don’t get out of there for a long time. He took a deep breath, turned around and walked away, Aglia and Lilla said quickly said goodbye and followed him.
“Why?” He finally said as he untied Luxon.
“Oh, little brother, because the fact that you and Cass like each other is as clear as water.”
Rox didn't respond, frustration dominating his expression.
“Don't get carried away by Calisto's teasing, remember why she and Lilla get along so well.” Aglia said placing a hand on Rox's shoulder.
“Hey! I heard that!” Lilla yelled.
They both laughed.
“I know you're confused and unsure. And nobody can make you or Cass do anything, just give it time and everything will be fine.” Aglia said with a warm smile.
“Thank you Ag.” He said hugging her with teary eyes.
Aglia broke away from the embrace and rested her forehead on Rox's. “Everything will be fine.” She said, lower this time and he doesn't enjoy talking about Cass.
Luxon parted them, nuzzling Rox with his muzzle.
“Can we go? We still have a training today.” Said Lilla mounting Luma.
The two waved and together they set off for home, as they rode the crystalline cyan sky of Mérion took on a magenta hue as more and more of Merion's twin suns, seen only as one, hid on the horizon.
