While he was about to go up the stairs, Della got down on her seat and asked, "You're back now? You promised me that you would be back right after."
He stopped, looked at her, and responded, "Sorry, I was held up by the farmer man….. I'll make it up to you. Tell me what you want?"
Della looked down and said, "Nothing, I was just….. You should rest. You look tired. I'll tell you tomorrow."
"Alright.... Here for you." He reached out in his pocket for a bag of money and gave it to Della.
"What's that?" Ramy asks.
"Money…. Buy anything you want."
Della looked at him flustered and asked, "I-is this really alright to give to me?"
"Yeah…. Moneys' not a problem."
Ramy approach her and cheerfully said, "Isn't that great? Now we can go out and buy the things you need…"
She was speechless for a moment and looked at him in the eye, then said, "Thank you…."
"You're welcome... Then I'll go rest," he said, extending his arm and patting her on the head before heading upstairs to rest.
"Yes..."
"Come on, Della, finish up your food and let's head out…" Ramy said excitedly.
The two of them headed out soon after Ramy finished up her chores in the kitchen, and as soon as they got out of the door, Ramy asked, "So where do you want to go?"
For five seconds, Della looked hesitant to respond, and then she replied, "I-I don't know."
Ramy looked at her and noticed her depressed look. She tried to liven up the mood by saying enthusiastically, "Hmmmmmm.... Well, let's just go to every store. Don't worry, I'm here. Now let's go!"
Ramy extended her arm to hold Della's arm so that she wouldn't be scared and get lost on the way. As soon as Della held her hand, she smiled and said, "Hang on tight... here we gooooooo! Hahaha,"
The two of them ran along the streets happily while holding hands. The people they passed by all looked at them warmly. After a long run, the two of them arrive at the market shop that sells clothes and accessories. "We have arrived at last..." Ramy said, while catching their breath.
Della looked at the front shop curiously and said, "It's so big…."
"Right? Let's go in. " Ramy said, dragging Della by her side."
As soon as they entered, a sales lady came in and welcomed them, then said, "At you service ladies, what would you like to buy?"
Della was nervous about the sudden approach. Ramy responded calmly, "We would like to see the ledger and choose from there."
"Who will be the one to wear the clothes, perhaps the lady at the back?"
"Oh, yes. We're here for her clothes. "
"Please take a seat over there while I'll get the ledger for you...."
Della was shivering and clutching her hand. Then Ramy asked, holding her shivering body, "Are you alright?"
She was startled that he slapped Ramy's hand. Ramy was surprised, but as she saw the apologetic look on her face, Ramy said, "It's alright, I'm here, no one will hurt you."
"Ladies, here is the ledger. Do call me if you've decided what to buy." The sales lady said, startling the two of them with her sudden arrival.
"Thank you, we will...."
The two of them went silent, and the atmosphere between them was gloomy. Then suddenly, Della asked, "I'm sorry, I slapped your hand away. Does it hurt?"
Ramy looked at her in relief and said, cheerfully, trying to liven up the mood again, "Nope, not anymore..... Here look Della, this one suites you."
The two of them were picking out dresses and normal clothes. Della was new to all of her surroundings and was afraid, but she tried to be brave and ignored the people beside them.
Ramy was happily picking up clothes and accessories for Della when someone came in and disturbed their peaceful time.
Someone stood in front of them and said, "What are you two peasants doing here?"
Ramy got angry and retaliated, "Peasant? Then let me ask you this. What is an ugly person like you doing here?"
"What did you say?"
"I said, what is an ugly person like you doing here?" Ramy replied, furiously and provocatively.
Her minions step in and say, "What did you say to our lady? ugly? You're just a peasant. Don't you know who this person is?"
Ramy stared at her and said emotionlessly, "Nope, never knew her."
Her minions brought out a chair, and glitters flew through the air. Then they said, in unison, "Let us tell you, this is the first daughter of Lord Monic, who is a marquise, lady Flore. Show some respect." Then they take a strange stance to represent their lady.
Ramy didn't care the least bit about their talk and responded, "And? What is a lady such as yourself doing in this humble village of ours?"
"How rude..." Flore's minions said in unison.
"What's got to do with us? You're a lady, so what? Let's go, Della, let's move over there... " Ramy said, dragging Della away. Then suddenly, one of Flore's minions pulled Ramy's hair, and Della got pulled along.
Ramy was furious that she too pulled the minion's hair and the fight started. The two of them scratched each other's faces and pulled their hair strongly without giving each other a rest.
"Help her down!" Flore commanded.
"Yes, lady." The two minions responded by charging at Ramy to hold her down, but they were flown away by Ramy's strong force. The shop was in trouble; the situation was getting out of hand, and many more people came in to watch and gossip.
Della was on the side watching, trembling in fear. Her breath became heavy and she held her chest tightly until she fainted.
"Kyaaaaaaa!! Someone help the child stop breathing!" One of the sales ladies shouted." The people who were there were only watching and gossiping instead of helping.
"What's with all the ruckus?!" shouted the shop's manager. The fight came to a halt, and everyone who had been chatting and creating a ruckus went silent. "What happened?" the shop manager inquires as he approaches the location of the scream.
"S-sir, t-this child has stopped breathing, w-what do we do?" said the saleswoman, panicked.
Ramy rose up and peered around the crowd, then noticed Della on the ground. "Della? Della! What happened to her?" she exclaimed, her eyes welling up with tears.
"Call the emergency team.... As you guys, SCRAM!!" said the shop manager, and everyone fled in terror. Ramy's head was caressed by the shop manager, who murmured in a soothing tone, "she will be fine..... *smiles* trust me."
Ramy nodded in agreement, but grief and anxiety couldn't be brushed off her shoulder. She was mad at herself that she had clenched her fist hard enough for it to bleed, and she blamed herself that this happened.
He put his arm on Della's chest and an aura came out of his hand, then a strong force flowed in the air, giving shivers to the people beside him. The force gathered in his palm and was released onto Della's chest, creating electricity similar to that of a defibrillator. In a few moments, Della coughed and started breathing again.
Ramy felt a little relieved that Della was breathing again and thanked the shop manager, bowing her head, "Thank you very much for saving Della….."
"No big deal.... Glad she's alright.... The emergency team will come here soon and take her to be examined in case there are other problems. "
"Yes…. Um, excuse me, I've never seen you before. May I know who you are?"
"Haha... I'm this shop's manager. My name is Stevan. Just call me Van. That's my nick name. hahahahhaha….. Oh, it looks like they're here. Take care then, miss…"
"Yes, thank you very much, Sir Van."
"You're welcome..."
"Please get on the carriage. We will go now."
"Y-yes…."
Ramy got on the carriage with Della, who was unconscious by her side. The carriage headed to the clinic at the back of the guild place. As soon as they arrive, they immediately see a doctor, to be precise, a mage doctor who is not any different from a normal one. Della was put on the bed and the doctor began his examination of her body.
"There wasn't any problem. It looks like this child was traumatized enough to cause her to stop breathing. Well, she will be all right. All you have to do is avoid anything that will hurt her mentally... She can stay here, but I suggest that you take her with you so that she will not be confused and scared... There is a carriage outside. Use it.. "
Ramy drifted off for so long that the doctor assumed she wasn't paying attention to him. Then she responded, "Yes…. Thank you doctor, I will do as you say,"
Person C carries Della in the carriage and lets her rest in a comfortable position, while Ramy is in the other space of the carriage, sitting and spacing out again. The driver whipped the horse to move. Their destination was the inn across the marketplace.
Ramy was spacing all the way back, and as soon as they arrived, she shut herself in her room in silence, leaving Della in the carriage. Her parents were worried about her and were also surprised that the emergency people, or a medical mage, basically carried Della on their arm unconscious and asked, "Where should I put her?"
The innkeeper's wife steps in and responds, "Come this way."
They were heading up the stairs when they met Roswald. "What happened to her?"
"Are you the guardian of the child?"
"I am. Why is she unconscious?"
"The mage doctor said she'd be fine if she slept and was well-cared for. I don't know exactly, but you should ask the companion of the child.... "
"Put her on the bed and leave..."
"Yes, of course I plan to... Then I will leave now."
Ramy's mother approached him and said, "I will talk to Ramy about what happened... I'm sorry."
"It's alright… it's also my fault."
"Don't blame yourself too much... you're this child's guardian am I right?"
"No.... I'm not."
"Are you sure you're not?"
"That's right"
"But you're her guardian, aren't you? I'll be heading down, and you should remain by her side."
Roswald couldn't say anything. He had no idea that he was Della's guardian in the eyes of the people. He gave her a sympathetic glance and opening the window to keep her from suffocating inside. He never expected the child he found in the forest would become his companion.
Ramy's mother knocked on the door and calmly called her name, but she couldn't hear her mother's voice outside. She continued clenching her fists and weeping. On the floor, there was a drop of blood. The door was smashed with an axe by her father. She forgot to wipe her tears away since she was so surprised by what her parents had done. Her mother walked up to her and tenderly held her hand.
"Can you tell your mother what happened to the two of you? Were you blaming yourself?" she asked.
To be continued…..
