After a few minutes, the king sat up at attention. “I need to go discuss this misunderstanding with him immediately.” He shook his head. “It's silly to sit here fumbling over not knowing his name. I'll just go ask him.”
The knights eyed each other cautiously.
“My King...” spoke one carefully. “If I may... offer a bit of a tiny suggestion.”
“Such as?” The king asked as he stood up, straightening out his jacket collar and then the sleeves.
“You... should probably let him rest for the night.”
“Why?” The king looked at him. “A matter such as this should be dealt with. I see no reason to delay.”
“True but...”
Another knight chimed in. “He was angry with you this last time you spoke, right? Perhaps, a day's rest, or more... Might make him more amiable.”
The king crossed his arms. “You're suggesting that I might have a better outcome if I leave him alone?”
“Certainly.” One nodded. “He's had a lot happen to him all of a sudden.”
The king pursed his lips. “This is nothing out of the ordinary for me.”
“Of course not, my King, but for him, this might be... Exceedingly out of place.”
“Hmm,” the king stared at the table's empty surface for a few moments. Then he looked to the knight's. “Very well. Here's hoping tomorrow morning will yield a better result.”
