Three months had passed since Ben’s establishment as a hero. During this time, he had made a new costume, utilizing a white and purple color scheme, the suit covering his entire body save for his mouth, with a purple “x” across the chest and purple lines covering half the limbs, Ben could now conceal his identity and take credit for the crimes he stopped.
However, all Ben had really stopped so far was some petty robberies and helping out with car accidents. He was fine with this, however. It kept his job easy. This was the same until one day he didn’t see coming.
Ben was relaxing in his apartment when a broadcast alert interrupted the show he was watching.
“We are receiving word of the East and West bank on 34th street being completely frozen over!” The reporter said “We have no idea what is causing this, as the story is still developing. Please stay tuned.”
As an ad for a local chain restaurant began to play, Ben stood up and walked to his closet.
“Time for work” He said, suiting up.
Minutes later, Ben was out in the city, flying towards the bank as onlookers stared.
“Is that Galactic Man?” One said
“I thought he was just a myth” Another one chimed in.
Ben walked towards the front of the crowd where cops were standing outside the bank.
“Any idea what’s going on?” He asked
“We don’t need your help” The cop replied in a short tone.
“You sure? You don’t seem to be doing anything”
“We don’t need superheroes. How about you get the fu-”
Suddenly, a blast of ice was sent out the front doors of the bank, causing the civilians to panic. Galactic Man flew up in anticipation of what was about to come out. A man stepped out donned in what appeared to be an eskimo hoodie. He was also wearing goggles with blue visors and had a strap from his shoulder to his hip with white and blue balls. He grabbed one and chucked it into the crowd. Before Galactic Man could react, it burst, causing members of the crowd to freeze in place. The man laughed.
“Outta my way!” The civilians began to run away from the scene as the cops pulled out their pistols and opened fire. The bullets merely bounced off the man’s coat.
“You’ll have to try harder than that!” He threw another grenade at the cops, but Galactic Man kicked it away before it could explode.
“Well well well, if it isn’t the famous Galactic Man. I’ve heard of you”
“Glad to hear it” Ben said as his hands began to glow. Before he could do anything, however, another figure landed in front of Ben. He was completely bald and wore a jumpsuit with four red, blue, white, and brown stripes.
“Stop, villain!” He said. Ben lowered his hands.
“What the hell?”
“I, Elemental, will end your reign of terror!” He shouted. The robber panicked and threw another grenade, landing directly on Elemental’s chest and exploding. As the dust cleared, though, Elemental wasn’t harmed at all.
“Ice is literally one of my powers. You’re pathetic.” Elemental then raised his hand in the air as rocks rose out of the ground, trapping the robber within.
“That should do it” He then turned around, facing Galactic Man.
“You must be Galactic Man! I’m Elemental, nice to meet you!” He held out his hand, which Ben took to shake.
“You also a superhero?” Ben asked
“I suppose you could call me that. I just started a couple weeks back.”
“I see”
"That was Icebox, I've fought him before. He's annoying, but you just gotta dodge the grenades."
Elemental picked up the rock he made and began to fly into the air
“We should team up sometime!”
“Yeah. Sure.”
Elemental grinned and flew off. Galactic Man looked around at the aftermath of the scene.“The more the merrier, I guess”
