Shepard walks down the hall to the main infirmary, he was holding something in his hand. The doors opened automatically for him, he walks in. “Hey, Kaiden.” Shepherd smiled. Kaiden smiled back at him. “Hey.” He sounded tired. “Did you get any sleep?” Shepard asked, he set the bottle of wine down. “Some. What’s that for?” He motioned to the wine. “It’s for you. When you get out.” Shepard smiled again, he leans over, pecking a soft kiss to Kaiden’s lips. “Mm.” Kaiden hummed. “Thanks.” Kaiden shifted in the bed, wincing slightly. “You alright?” Shepard asked, his voice full of concern. “Yeah, I’m alright,” Kaiden replied. “It’s just difficult to get comfortable.” Kaiden looked at him. “Mhm. I’ll go now, so you can rest.” Shepard stood. “No.” Kaiden grabbed his hand. “Don’t. Don’t leave, just stay here for a bit.” Kaiden pleaded. “Alright.” Shepard sat back down, he kissed Kaiden’s hand, he ran his fingers through Kaiden’s hair. Kaiden closed his eyes a fell asleep. Kaiden felt safe now. Like nothing was going to hurt him ever again.
