(First Draft) The Sound Of A Dying Butterfly

S2-E1 So...What Was That?

S2-E1 So...What Was That?

Mar 20, 2022

It's been a over a month since Kierra read that mysterious letter that sounded like it or the person was threatning her well being while here in college, while working, while living her life. Since reading that letter, Kierra wanted to go to Arledo about it, but instead, fearing whoever it is or what this may be, she stashes it away under her bed, putting it off as she tried to focus on her life and not worry about senseless threats to a person who has barely touched the world.
As much as it bothered Kierra, she still went about her day, trying not to silently judge people around her, like Arseni and Arledo themselves, Jelena maybe, and even her cocky co worker Raines Narvin.
They were the only ones she truly knew besides her family, but obviously her family has nothing to do with this, so they weren't even connected to it.
As Kierra went about all that month, it wasn't until after exams that she started feeling that worried feeling again, as if a clock is ticking somewhere on whovever did this.
Arseni...Right? It has to be Arseni...

Kierra woke up this day to thinking about this, she had just barely passed her exam but she managed to do it, with a little help....

Season Two, Episode One -------- So, What Was That?

*Yawning*

Getting up this morning was harder than the other days, why today do I feel like such crap?

Getting up and turning my alarm clock off, I immediately open the windows to help wake me up, squinting from the bright sunlight, I turn back to grab my phone that kept dinging on and off, but I was just to lazy to get up and see what or who it is. So grabbing my phone, I read a few messages from Arledo about him wanting to got have breakfast with me.

I replied sure, plus I have been thinking lately, maybe telling Arledo about that letter would help a bit, instead of trying to keep whatever this is to myself, I mean, someone could be stalking me! I don't know who would, but, it's possible.

I also happened to look to my right from where I'm standing, seeing Arseni's made up bed this Saturday morning. Probably gone running again, I assumed, so from this I went to the showers, washed up, cleaned up, and got dressed, ready to go out.

Walking out of the building everything seemed normal as I made my way to the cafe, listening to music until I got there, waving at some people, then making it to the building, I see Arledo at the stairs, smiling at me. "Hey Kierra!"

"Hey Arledo." I hugged him and he told me more about his comics and how they are coming along, then we ordered our breakfast and sat down eating together.

Enjoying our meals, Arledo drops a few smiles to me,  while I try to smile back, not saying anything but contemplating inside whether or not I should really tell him.

"Hey Kierra, is the food that good that it's keeping you quiet?" He laughs after while wiping his mouth from the delicious soft pancakes. I chuckle a little saying softly "Yeah, it is, actually really good." Although I was just thinking about that stupid letter.

"Well, you seem a bit off, is something bothering you? Is it Arseni? School? Work? Home?"

"Hey relax Arledo, it is none of that." I say, trying to get him to calm down.

"Then what is it?" he asks eagerly, "I know it is something..."

"Well..." I start to say while putting my fork and knife down, only finishing half of my pancakes. "I didn't tell you this, or anything for the matter..."

He leans in saying "Speak up a little, your voice is very soft you know..."

"Alright, well" Lifting my voice just right I hope, I say to him "I have this letter, I didn't bring it with me but I can show you later on, but technically, I got this letter last month and it was something horrible, talking about me being terrible and telling me that my life is going to fall, stuff like that, but I don't know who it is from and it has been haunting me for the past month, I mean seriously, I can't get this damn letter out of my mind, and I'm telling you because maybe you can help me figure out who it's from, maybe..."

Taking in a deep breath inside, I'm proud of myself to say it to him. But he looks at me worriedly saying "Oh, that is horrible..."

He leans back in saying "I don't know how we'll figure out who wrote it, especially since you waited a month to tell me so."

"I know, I should have said something, but I just didn't have the courage too." He places his rough hands on mine saying "I'll be here for you always Kierra, we'll figure out who did it."

I smile to him to thank him, then he finishes his food while I wait for him. Then I build up enough courage to say "Do you mind me showing you later? You can come by and I'll show you myself what it says."

"I can do it now, I can come by now, I don't have anything right now." He laughs a little.

"Okay, sure."

We get up and he pays for the food, then we both make our way to my dorm. I go in and it looks well the same, but Arseni is in there now, she is all sweaty and looks tired, but seeing her grabbing her shower bag, I know that's where she is heading too.

She turns to see Arledo and I walk in the room. I greet her and she says good morning to me, then she shifts her eyes to Arledo and says to him "What're doing here?"

"I'm um, helping Kierra out with some of her assignments that she needs to get started on." He smiles, awkwardly, as I look to him noticing, I lowkey side eye him without even realizing it.

She glances at me.

She shifts her eyes to me like she is about to roll her eyes too, with this, I walk towards my bed, getting out my bookbag to make what Arledo said look true. She still stares at me before walking over to Arledo, whispering something in his ear, as I look over to them, I notice that it makes him frown, but she glances back at me without a smile still.

Oh wait, she smiled, then said "Well, I'll see you guys later." She grabs her shower bag I call it and walks out, letting the door close on its own, closing shut it does.

Arledo walks over to the door, looking back to me while taking a deep breath, then he walks over to me saying "She's gone, I heard her walk away." I nod and put my backpack on my bed, then he puts his hands on his hips saying to me "So let's get to it, what's up with this note that is."

I get down and pull out the box it came in from under my bed, with this I take it out and place that also on my bed, then from there I removed the top and took out the baige envelope that the letter is in, I take the letter out as Arledo deeply watches me as I glance up at him for a bit, holding the letter in my hand, giving it to him to read.

As he carefully reads it it seems, he then looks down to me, his green eyes wide, he says to me "This is strange, who would do this to you? We just got here, how are people already holding grudges? I-"

He lays his arms down with the paper, looking around, he then brings it back up and looks at it again as I just watch him before saying "I'm telling you, I don't know where that is from, my life has still been the same ever since I got it, but that doesn't mean this note is not in effect somehow."

"Right."

"Yeah, I need to figure where this is from."

"Where do we start?" Arledo truly questions. I shake my head from his words, shrugging saying "I don't know, I'm justing keeping it to myself, stupidly ignoring it until...I get some lead or something strange happens, because I don't know what to do about this, and I definitely didn't tell me family about it."

"That's going to make them worry for sure."

"Yeah, that's why I'm not telling them, because then they'll all be super protective and cause problems with my whole family when these same people don't even give me the time of day on a regular basis."

Arledo just looks at me. I uncross my arms, looking at the window, contemplating on what to do.

Then I hear behind me.

"Oh?"

I turn around saying "What? What is it?'

"The police maybe, you can take the note to the police station, have them investigate it on whether someone is stalking you or something."

"I can't just go to the police because of a note? Right? Even if I can, I can barely communicate enough to want to do that."

"So you're just going to deal with it?"

"I guess, nothing has changed, I better just live in this peace I have right now, I'm sure it's nothing too serious, plus we know it has to be someone I know, they said they hated me, that has to be someone I've talked too, which is very few people, so, maybe it's someone from my job then? A family member" I look directly to Arledo, "you?"

"Hey, I would never do that Kierra, you know better than to say that." His face looks upset with me saying that about him, but he clears up right after.

"I'm going to leave it alone for now until I truly figure out what is going on with this thing."

Then Arledo's phone dings as he is about to say something. Reading the message, he says to me "Okay, my friends want me to play basketball with them, I haven't hung out with them in a while so, I'm going to go, but let me know what you decide to do with this letter."

"Okay, have fun."

As he is about to turn around, he turns back saying "Oh, try the dean too if have to, if possible you know, or some professors, dorm managers, that could help."

"I will try."

"Okay, see you later."

I wave bye to him, and Arledo walks out and closes the door shut while I take a breather myself. Looking back out to the window, I lean on the edge of it, contemplating my choice for the day.

Then I put some music on and took a walk to calm my mind, it always works, you know.

Welcome back Kierra! Even though this letter sounds like a problem, I'm sure you'll figure it out, right...?

It's interesting how well he must know her to notice that something is wrong.
