Rose reformed almost immediately after the incident. Excitement to see her third geode, turned to chilling horror when a frantic Greg and Pearl told her what happened. Rose cradled the tiny, cracked geode, tears pouring from eyes and onto the fragile shell. She prayed that the healing properties of her tears would be enough to save her youngest, unborn child.
The occupants of the temple waited in tense silence. After Rose had used her healing tears on the geode, it began to softly glow with a dim, pulsating light; signs of a hatching. But, it was far too soon for that! The shell of the geode began to fall away…
They were supposed to be in bed, but all of the commotion downstairs poked at their curiosity. Little Nora and Steven peeked around the corner at the grownups crowded together in the living room. Mama was back, but she hadn’t come to kiss the two goodnight. Was something wrong?
So small. So fragile. But, alive. Tears of grief and fear turn to ones of relief and happiness. Her little Chloe would live.
