Mattias returned to his cell, with the three items he was provided with. He immediately hid them all inside his clothes. He was later studying the map, later putting it away. About half an hour later, three guards arrived carrying a bed with sheets that were decorated in a radiant jade colour. They had opened the cell door, not really paying much attention to him. Mattias was then gazing at the exit of the cell, he was slightly raised from his seat, he glanced at the guards putting his bed together, and with one sudden move, he escaped from his cell.
He was running at an extraordinary pace, with not a single guard even trying to chase him down. He later got to the gates of the castle, they were firmly shut, and so he ran out of a nearby window. He was outside of the castle, of where it was nearly pitch black outside. He lit a small torch and was looking back at the map. The village he was supposed to go to was to his right, and so he headed his way down there.
When he got there, he armed himself with the knife that he was provided with and was looking around for house which had his target. The village itself was very quiet, with only a few torches lit up on the exterior of the houses. He found the house he was supposed to enter, it was very small, with room for only a couple and a small child. He tried opening the door, but it was locked. He went over to the window, which was really just a square shaped hole in the house. There was one man there, Mattias took a look at the picture he had been provided, and it matched him almost perfectly. Later on, Mattias decided to knock on the door. Within seconds, the man answered.
‘Uhhhh, hello?’ he greeted ‘What are you doing here, this late at night?’ Mattias hid his knife behind his back.
‘I’ve come… to seek refuge’ he answered. ‘I’m homeless, you see’
‘Pffft, I doubt it! You’re dressed like a nobleman! You could probably buy this whole village while you’re at it!’ Mattias was then silent, averting the man’s gaze.
‘I just got kicked out of my home. These clothes are all I have’ the man walked back and had his hands on the door. Mattias kicked it back open as he slammed it on him.
‘What the hell?!’ Mattias leaped straight on him and knocked him to the ground, smashing the back of his head on the floor. He held his knife to his throat. ‘You’re… a… killer?! What I have… done to deserve this?’
‘Nothing, really’ said Mattias. Sweat was pouring from his hands and he was shaking violently. ‘Please, forgive me’
‘What?! Never!’ Mattias closed his eyes and stabbed him in the throat. A woman and a very young boy appeared.
‘What’s going on?!’ she yelled ‘Guards! Guards! Come quickly! My husband’s been murdered!’ as soon as Mattias heard her voice he dashed out of the house, knocking down the door. He dashed out of the village in the direction of the castle, later collapsing once he was away. A portal opened underneath him, transporting him back into the underworld.
Laying on his deathbed due to a terminal illness, Mattias gets greeted by a mysterious woman. His life is saved, but at a cost: he is now a pawn of the underworld.
