Mattias appeared back in the cavern he appeared in when he was first summoned to the underworld. His clothes were stained with blood and the knife he was carrying had blood on it also. The robed skeleton from earlier came to greet him.
‘Splendid work, child!’ Mattias looked at him, looking aghast.
‘I just killed someone’ Mattias was shaking ‘He was an innocent man. And a father, too!’
‘Do not fear! Many people die! Be glad you’re not one who has!’ Mattias glared at him.
‘In a way, I kind of wished I had actually died’ the robed skeleton picked him up.
‘Come on, now! Kryos is waiting!’ Mattias growled and stomped his way down towards his lair, as before he had two women by his side.
‘Congratulations, Mattias’ he began ‘I was actually wondering if you were man enough for this task’ Mattias showed him the knife ‘And you killed him with the knife I gave you, too? Wonderful! You might even become a master assassin at this rate!’
‘Yeah, keep it up, boy!’ cheered the woman wearing the leather leotard. The other woman had a look of concern.
‘I don’t want to be a “master assassin’ said Mattias ‘And that man was a husband and a father’
‘Nonsense!’ Kryos chuckled ‘When you’re eating a chicken do you ever consider that the thing laid eggs and was a mother? You mortals are such hypocrites!’
‘Yeah! Stupid mortals!’ jeered the woman again. There was a brief period of silence.
‘So, Mattias’ Kryos began ‘I’ll be sending you back to the dungeon which you came from. Complete my second task, and you’ll be able to take refuge here. Some of the others are dying to meet you, hahahaha!’
‘With my clothes looking like this, are you serious?!’
‘Oh, don’t worry about that!’ he was then looking at the woman wearing the robes, who had cast a spell on Mattias. His clothes were completely free of blood. As a matter of fact, his clothes were cleaner than they were beforehand ‘Also, you may leave the knife here’ Mattias dropped the knife on the floor. ‘Good’
‘What about the map and the drawing?’
‘Keep them, that’s an order’ Mattias gasped ‘Failure to do so will be a breach of the code. And you cannot destroy them, either. Keep them on your person’
‘You cannot be serious!’
‘Ah, but I am!’ a portal appeared beneath him again. He was transported back to the dungeon’s cell. The bed with green sheets had been placed there. The first thing he did when he was in the cell was that he put the map and the drawing under the mattress of the bed. For the rest of the night, he was lying on the said bed, seemingly incapable of falling asleep for even a second.
Laying on his deathbed due to a terminal illness, Mattias gets greeted by a mysterious woman. His life is saved, but at a cost: he is now a pawn of the underworld.
