The old man would pat the top of Seraphs' head at the response. He'd chant some words until a magical aura enveloped Seraph, which started to clean off all the blood.
'I may be small and cute, but you don't have to pat me like I'm some stray dog.' Seraph would nip at his hand.
"My apologies, I only meant to congratulate you for being able to name yourself. Not many monsters have the capacity to have a name." Henrik would examine Seraph further, checking their mana flow, revealing she has two mana flows colliding. The first is a red mana flow with the lowest quality of mana capacity. The other was a different story. Every time he attempted to seek it out, it would move about hiding its presence. Only a glimpse of black energy would be all he sees. This was undoubtedly unnatural.
'You're not into furries, are you..?' Seraph would say while having a concerned look on her face. Not to say she wasn't a furry, to begin with, just the age gap was a bit much.
"I have no idea what that term means. I was just glancing at your mana flow, nothing more." He'd furrowed his brow, not knowing if that term was an insult or something only animals knew of.
'Holdup, I have mana? Magic?!' Seraph jumps around in glee at the idea of actually having power in a world.
'How do I use it? Do I have to train, read or kill? Come on, tell meeee.' Seraph would be racing between Hendriks legs brushing up against them.
The two rangers laugh at the scene while Hendrik wonders if he should have just kept quiet.
"Well, if you are interested in learning how to use your mana flow, you could form a pact with myself to be familiar." Hendrik decided to sit down to keep Seraph in one place to hold the conversation.
We're doing a what now?' Seraph would sit in front of Hendrik tilting her head to the left.
"Forming a pact as my Familiar. It's where monsters or magical creatures like yourself use us as a conduit to improve your magical capabilities while I can summon you to aid me in combat or such." He explained, trying to make it not sound like he's turning me into a slave.
'So if I accept, I'll be kind of stuck to you until you die, or we part ways? But I'll be able to gather magic and stuff on the way?' She'd groom her right paw and rub her head to gain a sense of what was going on.
"Something like that. I know the decision is sudden, but It's better than me just bringing you to the kingdom where they probably call you a demon spawn or something." He'd stroke his beard while closing his eyes, remembering a few of his familiar falling to such a fate.
'Ok, sure.' Seraph would pounce on Hendriks lap and roll into a Lil fluff ball, forcing him to stay put.
"Really, that fast? Aren't you worried I'll be taking a part of your freedom away?" He was both surprised and concerned at how fast she accepted his offer.
'Don't worry, I'm open to exploring how being a familiar can be. Plus, if you're an adventurer, my freedom won't be that restricted since I can just nag at you. Oh, and if I sense you're trying to sacrifice me or some crap, I'll kill you. Sounds fair?' From the fluff ball, two eyes emerged looking at Hendrik. From the purple slit, irises were a small presence of killing intent.
"In that case, we have a pact. Give me your paw." Hendrik extended his hand towards the fluff ball.
The fluff ball extends a paw that holds onto his hand. After a few moments, golden chains emerge from Hendrik while Black chains with a purple fire extend from Seraph. Each chain clashed against each other, causing magical sparks in the air until both chains intertwined.
Hendrik was breathing heavily, he had some pacts that took more of a toll than others, but this one was in another league. Even if the fox cub had red mana flow, the more elusive mana flow hiding under it gave him no quarter to mess up.
'Um, are you alright old peep?' Seraph would boop his face with her right paw.
"Yes yes I'm fine. It was just a little rough of a pact to sign. Almost like I was making a pact with two souls." Hendrik would laugh off at his statement and pick up Seraph, placing her on his right shoulder.
"Now that we're in a pact together, let's head back to the adventurers guild to get you registered, then we can grab something to eat." Hendrik would start weaving a spell which prompted the two rangers to come close to him and, in a flash of blue light around them, faded into a city nearing dusk.
'Holy crap, was that displacement magic? No, wait, that blue light was weird... Tell me, you secretive oldie!' Seraph brushed her tails against his neck out of excitement for magic being so versatile.
"Calm yourself, and It's a form of gravity magic that lets you bend reality in a small way, for example, us traveling a short distance of 400 kilometers." Hendrik would pat Seraph's head, attempting to calm her outburst.
'You call that short? Damn, I really need to learn magic soon... how many types of magic are there?' She'd return into her fluff ball state with eyes popping out front while two tails wagged behind the shoulder.
"There are many forms even I haven't learned, but the basics are earth, fire, water, and air magics. Then those are more specialized versions. Fire being Plasma and forge casting, Earth having Metal and Construction casting, Water holding Weather and Creation and finally air controlling lightning and light manipulation." Hendrik explained while looking for the adventurers guild. After some time, they reach the doorstep of what many would consider the Whitehouse if it was made of wood and colored brown and green.
