I live in a world of ki and powers, it's common for one to have their traits by age of six because that's when the ki pool extends to the point where you can use it. In fact, I haven’t met a person without a special trait… other than me. Growing up, I was always told by my parents that I was special for not having one and that I was different. Since I didn’t extend my ki pool by six, the kids at school would bully me. Like any other world, this world was driven by power and wealth. Meanwhile, I had none of that, I lived in a shed with my parents, always thankful that we weren’t homeless, although I had looked as if I wasn’t homeless, of course, I wasn’t too tall, I was only 5’2 with shaggy black hair with a black jacket someone had donated to us. My eyes were golden and I wore glasses. The richer and more powerful kids would always pick on me like I was lower than them, which I couldn’t say that I wasn’t, I was living like this until my high school years. Which is when the mysterious day took place, March 21st, I saw an old grandpa who was 4’6 and could hardly walk. I came to help him by on the street but the limping man held on to my middle finger in particular for some reason while we were walking down the street. As soon as we were off the road, he ran faster than the wind. He had one heck of a grip, so I saw my finger and it was pitch black, blacker than any night I've seen, and I was drowsy. I decided that sleeping probably wasn’t the best idea so I went down back to my school, Kuai Academy. The bells were ringing, at my school, they always make the bells make different sounds every time they rang, one of my hobbies was trying to match them by snapping. Today, it rang and I snapped right to the beat, but as soon as I did, I felt nauseous, I looked down at my fingers and I saw that I snapped with my black finger. I went down to the nearest soup kitchen in hopes that they will give me something to think about. That will get things off my mind I thought. I then went to my favorite place, a park, it wasn’t a fancy or powerful park, it was the park with the most nature still intact.
While I was taking a stroll around the park, something amazing happened, I was admiring a rather unusual bird, a lyrebird, and I had told it, “You must be lucky, living where everyone is the same, no wealthier or more powerful.” That's when things got unusual, the bird responded with,
“Do you wish your own world to be like this? You have the power to change this young mortal, but in order to do so, go to the far western side of the continent, our continent is not so big, and I believe you are in the lower part of education? In that case here is a map, and go to Bluelands village, there you will meet a person who greets you with wine and bread, reject the offer and demand him to teach you his way.”
“What way? What will the person teach me?”
“That, you will find on your own.” With that, the bird vanished leaving me a map of our continent named, “Koujin.”
The bird put a little star where I was right now, which was Complexed village, and where I was, Bluelands was at least 10,000 feet from here, and I realized that our place really is small. I went back to the kitchen to pack some food for my short little trip, after my parents and I said our goodbyes, I headed for the village. I was walking in the nice weather of Complexed and it was quite nice, my journey should only take about an hour and forty minutes so it didn’t exactly seem overwhelming at first, but then I was reminded how pathetic humans are. Those who were cocky of their strength came and tried to take all my things, and I couldn’t do anything about it, I couldn’t bargain with money nor could I fend myself with power, the only thing I could do was let them take it. They were all dressed in robes with dark hoods, probably too scared of the police, there was a fire user, water user, ki blade user, and a metal manipulator. They took all my food and left me in the alleyway, thinking I wouldn’t come back for my stuff, which was true once again. After what the bird had told me though, I couldn’t just back down, I ran full force towards the metal man, and the expected happened, I was shot back with little metal bullets with more force than a hose from a fire truck, although it couldn't pierce me, I was still knocked out. I woke in broad daylight looking like crap, they hadn’t taken my map because it was just a useless paper for them, so I got back on the road, only an hour and thirty minutes to go. The rest of the trip went quite smoothly, I found a river to clean myself in and I found a small animal, that sort of looked like a cross between a heatbear and a water- lily- wolf, that I could catch with my bare hands, and made a fire with wood all around and tried my best to cook it with the fur off. That little guy lasted me for 3 stops, and by then I could see Bluelands village. I quickly ran towards it and sure enough, a man with a scraggy black beard with kind black eyes, with no hair, offered me some wine and bread. I had declined like the lyrebird told me to and told him to teach me instead. The man said that technique was very risky and asked if I wanted to learn it for sure, and of course, I replied, “I would like to learn it.” It turns out the bird set me up for something impossible, the man was talking about how to teach me earth manipulation, and it was hard for me to confess that I can’t actually use my ki to any special traits but before I had any questions he started with, “Well then, let's start by moving rocks out of my backyard with ki.” with a concerning smile.
