Something's Up With Background Character D

Chapter One

Chapter One

Apr 09, 2022

After the transmigrators came into the world, the world’s consciousness made up a bunch of information to cover up the plot holes of this novel.

One such information was the rest of the characterization of Background Character D.

It decidedly used Zhang Ming (the reborn one) as the template. The character was then named ‘Zhang Ming’ just like him (It would be pretty awkward being called ‘Background Character D’ all the time you know). Aside from being quiet and unassuming, they made him a closeted gay guy as well. He didn’t have much hobbies, but he has always been open to trying out new things to which Zhang Ming would definitely start doing as to not end up bored whenever he wouldn’t be at school.

Weirdly enough, even the character’s family was modeled after his own.

Wow, the world’s consciousness didn’t have much originality, creativity, or even the least bit of imagination (¬_¬)

The Zhang father and mother both worked average-waged jobs. Formerly, the Zhang mother stayed at home to take care of the kids. But after the youngest started becoming old enough, she went back to working. With the two’s jobs, they weren’t too pressed financially.

The Zhang family had two children. An older daughter— who had just started office work after graduating college— and of course Zhang Ming himself who’s still in highschool.

They were very similar to Zhang Ming’s own original family and so after transmigrating, he didn’t feel too out of place in the family dynamic and all of them seemed very familiar to him.

After waking up, Zhang Ming quickly located the school uniform from the closet and changed into it after taking a quick shower.

He checked the study table if there were any homework or school books that the previous character may have forgotten about. Once he was sure everything was in his school bag, he slung it on his shoulder before heading out of his room.

He passed by the living room when he smelled breakfast wafting through the air. He immediately made his way to the dining room.

“Good morning Ming!” the voice of a woman chimed up.

“Ah, good morning as well mom,” he said to his mother.

Rose Zhang 张肉色 (with Kogane as her maiden name), was plating up the last of the sunny-side-up eggs she was cooking and set them on the table.

Zhang father, Zhang Yefeng 张也风, also piped up with a greeting “Good morning, Ming’er.”

He was sitting at the head of the table with a cup of tea nestled in his hand. He put down the tablet he was reading the most recent news with beside his plate as soon as his wife sat on the chair to his right.

His older sister, Zhang Ling 张灵, just waved in greeting then started scarfing down her share of food once their mother put down the last plate.

Zhang Yefeng raised an eyebrow at his eldest child’s actions in amusement before starting to eat as well.

Zhang Ming snickered at her (he got a tongue poked out at him for his troubles)  as he sat down on the remaining seat available and nodded his thanks to his mother. She smiled at him before starting to eat the breakfast.

He hummed appreciatively as the home cooked meal settled into his taste buds and slowly filled up his empty stomach.

“This is amazing, Mom. Just what I needed to start the day!” he selled meng at his mother who laughed and patted his head.

Ahh, there really is nothing like a home cooked meal prepared by your own mother! (^ ρ ^) /

As he bit by bit finished his breakfast, he continued to think about the new world he’s in. That’s when his mind went to the school his character goes to.

A-Country’s East Hill High was one of the best high schools in their area, as well as one of the most cost effective one. All kinds of teenagers would get enrolled there so there was a fair mix of differing financial and social statuses between them all.

It was settled around the east (obviously) of the city.

…the problem was, Zhang Ming absolutely had no idea how to get there (—__— )

Did the original Zhang Ming ride a train, taxi, or uber? Maybe his parents or big sister would drive him to school? (That’s kind of lame though—) Maybe he owns a bicycle and he’d take that?

“It’s not often that you stay to eat breakfast with us, Ming’er.” Zhang Yefeng said.

Zhang Ming paused in his chewing with eyes wide. He quickly swallowed, almost choking, “The breakfast mom made just smelled too good and I couldn’t really resist.” he answered sheepishly.

Zhang Yefeng raised an eyebrow at him.

…Zhang Ming feels as if the eyebrow is just Zhang Yefeng’s normal response to anything stupid his children say or do.

Still, Yefeng nods in ‘acceptance’ to his answer.

Thank the heavens he didn’t pry any further (>_<  )

Zhang Ling was the first to finish her breakfast and immediately stood up. She walked around the table, giving a kiss to their mother’s cheek and giving their father a hug, “I’m off to work everyone!”. Then she hurried out carrying her bag with her.

One after the other they finished breakfast, however they didn’t stand up yet. Zhang Yefeng was finishing his hot tea and continued reading on his tablet. After Zhang Ming finished, Rose Zhang stood up to grab all their dishes and put them in the dishwasher and started it up.

“I’ll be going to work now as well,” she said and kissed Zhang Ming’s head before sharing a kiss with Zhang Yefeng, “Yefeng, please take out the dishes and set them in the cabinets before you leave okay?”

Zhang Yefeng nodded before giving his wife another kiss.

And with that, she left the two at the table.

Which still left Zhang Ming the problem of how to get to school.

“If you could help me to take out the dishes then wait as I grab my things, I could drive you to school on my way to work.” his father said, finally finishing his tea.

Take about a save! *(^o^)/*

Zhang Ming quickly nodded his head.

This author has something to say:
Do I know Chinese? ...just a teensy weensy bit
Are the Chinese names right? It should be, if it's wrong somebody tell me XDD (or actually, maybe not so I don't have to change anything nalang XDDD)

Also! We will be meeting all of the main characters of the OG storyline next chapter! :000
Although, Zhang Ming won't brush against the World System until at least the third or fourth chapter (not sure yet)

Anyways, I hope you all enjoy! :DDD

Zhang Ming ended up getting transmigrated after getting hit by a truck.

...that's so cliché-

In all other worlds, that would probably be a good thing. Second life, second chances and all.

Sadly, his transmigration story isn't at all like the ones he likes to read about.

There are no golden thighs to cling to, there was no face-slapping or revenge, there was no OP system he can use to his will.

The only thing he has was an average storyline without any grievances or glory, a world system who won't let him OOC, a cliché and horribly-written novel world, and Second Male Lead who just won't follow the storyline-

Wait, a Second Male Lead who won't follow the storyline? (¬_¬)

Yes, a Second Male Lead who won't follow the storyline.
