Week 4, 17XX
I feel like this is some kind of payment for the last week’s visit cancellation.
I’ve already given up trying to make sense of all of what’s happening this week since the moment I’ve nearly died by the lady’s throwing session. The amount of people who were, and are, traumatized has increased to a two-digit number.
And the first digit is more than 1…
Although this week’s incident may or may not leave even more people scarred and terrified
Because we had another visitor in the manor.
Well, it’s more like a ‘have’ rather than had and more towards ‘family member’ rather than a visitor.
Lady Azelina has gotten a pet…
More precisely, she had escaped the manor, went into the woods and after almost a whole day of frantic searching combined with the panic moments from the Valjean family, she finally appear out of thin air cuddling a small creature in her arms.
It was bizarre, indeed. Until now, we don’t know why she did that and how she did that.
It’s not like the manor was unguarded. The Valjean family is one of the royal family’s biggest supporters, managing some of the biggest businesses in the kingdom. Which such big power and a big responsibility, it’s a given to know that the Marquis himself had some enemies waiting in the dark, waiting for that one golden opportunity to strike either for greed or revenge.
Because of that, the guards have been carefully selected. Noble nor commoner, as long as you have proven yourself that you are loyal to the Valjean and dedicate your life to them, you can be chosen as a knight.
And even then, they are strictly trained to both defend, attack and even detect someone’s presence even in the dark. Trained to be ready at any moment to take action against the enemy. Even the king has acknowledged the Valjean knights as people who have high chances of winning in a war.
So how in the world did lady Azelina manage to escape her room, past all the guards and went to the woods without anyone noticing… in plain daylight?
No matter how much the Marquis and Marquise questioned and pleaded their daughter to answer, the lady wouldn’t open an inch of her mouth. It’s the only time the lady has acted as the cold lady we’ve faced and not the beloved daughter.
As for the creature, we have no idea where it came from. We deduced it’s between a wolf and a cat. Its black feature looks beautiful though and the fluffy fur makes me want to touch it. Even though it is a wild animal, the Marquis reluctantly let it into the family as lady Azelina’s pet.
Mostly because the lady will not let even a single finger touch her precious animal, let alone pick it up.
Although it took time trying to accept an animal living inside lady Azelina’s room, it does cheer up her life, even if it’s a little. Her throwing session had lessened a bit and she look more content and calm rather than the usual anxious guarded face whenever one of us went near her.
Even the family gradually spend time with the fluffy creature (they’re the only one who can touch the lady’s pet). The twin was so happy playing with both lady Azelina and her pet that they spent the most time in her bedroom.
Sometimes, watching them having fun brings a smile to my face. It brings up distant memories of being normal children before I was forced to work as a maid to pay my family’s living expenses. It feels both nostalgic and sad.
I hope in the near future, the lady would let me touch her pet too. I wonder what name will she choose?
