As Clement laid in his Hut, slowly waking up, he readied himself for the day, knowing it’d be very busy, and more than likely quite long. He was one of the head workers at Harmony Haven, a secret Camp or Sanctuary, where a handful of Therians and Humans lived in relative harmony, with a population of around 50, including roughly 22 Humans and 28 Therians. He knew he had a lot of work to do today, as usual, and went to get up. He then realized he could feel a fairly heavy Weight or Pressure on his body. He was puzzled for a moment, and then realized. He sighed a bit, and looked up to see Sonia laying on top of him. She’s a Sloth Bear-Type Therian…and his lazy girlfriend. He shook her side a bit, to get her attention.
“Sonia…” Clement said, still a bit tired. “Come on, I need to get up for Work…I can’t lay in bed all day.”
“Mmmhh…” She groaned, sleepily. “That time already…?”
“I don’t see why you can’t just sleep in your Hut…” He said.
“Aww, it’s just so much more comfy in your’s~” She said, teasingly.
She lazily got up, and yawned, as Clement got off the bed, and stretched his legs.
“Probably a big day, as usual…” He said, as he stretched.
He stepped outside, and was momentarily blinded by the sudden bright light. Sometimes he hated the Sun. All around, there were Therians and Humans alike Working, Playing, and relaxing together. They didn’t have much technology, aside from Phones and some TVs in the more…advanced Huts, so most of the inhabitants typically went outside to enjoy themselves. TV’s depressing after all. He went to the Chief he answered to, being Riley and Ruby. Sounds like two people, but they’re actually a Southern Black Racer Snake-Type Therian, who was born with a rare two-headed mutation/ As such, they share a body, but have two different heads and personalities. One’s sassy and a little mean, and the other’s nice and sweet. He walked up to them, still a bit drowsy from waking up.
“Hmph! About time you got here, Clement!” That was Riley. The Sassy one. “You got a long list of stuff to do, as do the other head workers!”
“H-hey, go easy on him, he’s only Human…” And that’s Ruby.
“It’s fine…I gotta break the habit of sleeping in anyway…” Clement said, taking the List and reviewing it. “Collecting Wood, Catching Fish and Insects for Carnivores, Collecting Fruits and Vegetables from the Farms for Herbivores, Checking the Perimeter and Defense Walls, Checking the Wi-Fi and Cable signals, Double Checking the Perimeter and Defense Walls…jeez…lot more than usual…did something come up?”
“The Head Chief is concerned that the Therian Government might be searching for us, so they want us to be prepared. Most of the other Head Workers are helping to work on defenses and weaponry.” Ruby said
“Yeah, so YOUR Schedule’s actually light!” Riley said. “Me and Ruby are dealing with a problem of our own.”
“Right…I better get started then.” Clement said, running off to collect wood.
He had reached the cliff, when he was tackled from behind by Sonia, causing them both to tumble down the hill, and land at the bottom, with Sonia on top of him, on his back.
“O-ow…” Clement said, a bit pained. He was a little used to it. “Seriously, Sonia…?”
“I know you didn’t think you were gonna run off without me, Clement!” Sonia said, getting off him and helping him up. “I’d be SO bored without you!”
“Jeez…for an Animal-Type named after a Sloth, you sure know how to move fast…” Clement said, dusting himself off.
“You lovebirds done flirtin’?” Said Ricky, an Indian Rhino-Type Therian.
“I thought you’d be busy, Clement~!” Said Lillian, a Ring-Tailed Lemur-Type Therian, who was sitting on Ricky’s shoulder, as she ate a piece of fruit.
“Oh hey guys!” Clement said, popping his back. “Yeah, I AM gonna be pretty busy, but what good is Work if there’s no fun to break up the monotony, right?”
Rickey and Lillian ran off, to complete some work they’d been assigned, and Clement went to cut a tree down. He was struggling with his axe, so Sonia just walked up and pushed the tree over.
“...Huh. I guess being 7 Feet Tall, 250 Pounds, and made of Muscle isn’t so bad.” Clement said. “...O-oops! Sorry, I didn’t mean to bring up weight-”
“Oh, it’s fine! For Bear-Types, being referred to as Heavy or Plump is a compliment!” Sonia said, helping him break the tree up into pieces, and put them into a bag.
He and Sonia went down the plains, collecting more wood, before deciding to move on, Sonia caught insects to bring back, since Sloth Bears have a knack for finding insects, and Clement went to the River to catch plenty of fish. He took off his Sandals, rolled up his pants legs, and spent at least an hour in the River, catching over four bags worth of Fish. By the end of it, he was tired, and feeling sleepy again. He sat by the River, with his feet in the water, knowing that he had at least Eight or Nine more hours worth of work to do. He wiped the sweat from his forehead, and noticed it got a bit shadier. He turned to see Sonia standing next to him, holding some containers of bugs.
“Feelin’ tired?” She asked, setting the containers down and sitting by him.
“Phew…totally…” Clement said. “I already feel like going back to sleep.”
“Take your time, man. Humans have much lower limits than Therians, so breaks are necessary. I’m sure the Head Chief would agree.” Sonia said. “...Well I could use a break of my own~”
She dove into the River, and started splashing around, playfully. Clement chuckled, watching her play in the water. She was like a big teddy bear, and damn he loved her. She made the hard work he had to do to sustain their Sanctuary worth it. Just knowing that with Harmony Haven maintained, they could be together, maybe even be accepted one day, was enough to keep him going through a long day of work.
