Jay ran around the kitchen, putting dirty dishes into the sink and putting leftover food from the wedding into leftover containers.
“Hey Jay,” Griffin said, walking into the kitchen. “Do you need some help?”
“That’d be great,” Jay said with a smile. “Could you please start on cleaning those dishes? Thank you so much.”
“You’re welcome,” Griffin said, heading over to the sink filled to the top with dirty pots, pans, plates, bowls, cups, and utensils.
“I’ll help you after I finish putting up all the leftover food,” Jay said, walking over to the fridge carrying three containers of what looked like different types of soups.
“Sounds good,” Griffin said, scrubbing a pot.
Jay quickly put up the rest of the leftovers and walked over to the sink to help Griffin clean the dishes.
“Thanks again for helping me,” Jay said, picking up a dish and a sponge with soap on it.
“You’re welcome. I figured you needed it after all the food you made for this wedding, including a giant wedding cake,” Griffin said, setting a clean pot to dry on a kitchen towel laid out over the counter.
“Well thanks,” Jay said, scrubbing a dirty plate.
“So how do you feel about your brother being married?” Griffin asked, cleaning another dish.
“More single,” Jay said with a laugh.
Griffin laughed.
“No, seriously though. I’m really happy Noah and Cora are married. They’re great for each other,” Jay said with a smile.
“They are,” Griffin said with a smile.
“I wonder if Oliver and Natalie will get married next? I mean with Oliver getting sicker and sicker by the minute and everything,” Jay said, putting a plate onto a drying rack next to the towel laid out over the counter.
“Yeah. Me too,” Griffin said. “I do know that Oliver loves Natalie a whole lot.”
“I know Natalie loves Oliver a whole lot too,” Jay said.
“You wanna know something?” Griffin asked, putting down the dish he was cleaning back into the sink. He then turned to face Jay.
Jay put down the dish she was cleaning back into the sink and turned to face Griffin.
“What?” Jay asks, curiously.
“I’ve noticed that pretty much everyone either likes someone or is in a relationship,” Griffin said. “Noah and Cora are married. Natalie and Oliver are dating. Georgia likes Eli and Eli likes her back. Isabella likes Jackson, but Jackson doesn’t notice that he likes her back. I’m pretty sure Mateo likes Mackenzie too.”
“Whoa. I’ve never noticed that before,” Jay said, looking surprised. “What about you? Do you like anyone?”
“Yeah,” Griffin said. “I’m pretty sure they don’t like me back though.”
“You don’t know that for sure,” Jay said.
“Eh,” Griffin said. “Do you like someone?”
“Yeah,” Jay said. “We always hangout and he always helps me out when I’m struggling. He’s really nice.”
“Sounds like a lucky guy,” Griffin said, looking down at the floor.
Jay grabbed Griffin’s chin in her hand and held it there for a moment.
“It’s you, silly. I like you,” Jay said with a smile.
“I like you too,” Griffin said, smiling back.
Jay then leaned in and kissed Griffin.
Their kiss was soft and sweet. Gentle and warm.
Butterflies fluttered around and around in circles in both of their stomachs as they kissed.
“So…do you want to…maybe…be my girlfriend?” Griffin asked, after the amazing kiss.
“I’d love to,” Jay said, pulling Griffin into another kiss.
