While the people of the world have always tended to talk about the Three Eyed Cąȶ, they often forget that Death was a creature too. Yet human’s fear of Death was so strong that most could not face or even acknowledge Death when they were around. It was much easier to talk to and blame the Three Eyed Cąȶ, who was tricky and mischievous. So, few knew what Death was really like. If they had gotten to know Death, the people of the world would have learned some important things. First, Death was not a somber, sad creature. Rather, Death had quite a sense of humor. It was one reason the Three Eyed Cąȶ was their friend. They enjoyed jokes and tricks as much, if not more than, the Three Eyed Cąȶ. It was why sometimes Death would dawn ridiculous outfits and spook humans as they walked home at night. Seeing the poor humans yelp and scramble away in terror was pretty funny to Death.
Second, Death was kind. Aside from the occasional prank, Death never hurt anyone in any way. In fact, they were much kinder to humans than humans were to each other or to Death. By nature, Death cared and loved people greatly, taking pity on them. Since everyone was too afraid to look at Death, they never knew what Death looked like and, thus, failed to see that the one helping them was often the creature they considered a curse. Third, Death didn’t actually cause people to die, but rather Death’s presence in the World of the People required people to die to manage the balance between the worlds. This was because Death, as the Deity’s shadow, was a massive spiritual presence. Their abilities were grander than even they knew. Thus, even if all the people’s souls returned Nӕse, the spirit world, there would still be a deficit in Nӕse.
Finally, the fourth thing the people of the world didn’t know was that Death, as the Deity’s shadow, had dreams of sight. These dreams were not visions of the future like the Three Eyed Cąȶ had, for, after all, shadows do not come before but after the thing they mimic. Death’s dreams were dreams of connections. As everyone and everything in the World of the People had shadows, they were all connected in unseen ways. Death, sometimes by choice and sometimes not, would have dreams about people they had met or missed. In these dreams, Death would see anything from a person’s distant past to the present day. It was actually one of the ways that Death kept track and found the Three Eyed Cąȶ when they wanted. Unlike the Three Eyed Cąȶ whose first eye saw people’s past, Death’s dreams were more personal, allowing Death to experience things from the perspective of the person they were dreaming about. Most of the time, Death found this to be a blessing for such dreams allowed them to experience many joys and to be close to the Three Eyed Cąȶ when Death missed their friend. Unfortunately, sometimes the dreams were painful as people began dying and leaving behind loved ones. Sometimes the dreams were scary as the evil parts of some were revealed. And it soon became clear that no one and nothing could be hidden from Death, no matter how much Death wish for it to be so.
